n December of 2004, Blue Duck Hair Salon opened its doors to serve a wide range of clients in Evansville, IN and the surrounding areas. At Blue Duck Hair Salon, we are truly dedicated to making all of our clients feel nurtured, welcomed and pampered, while allowing them to feel confident and beautiful, both inside and out.

Blue Duck Hair Salon employs some of Evansville’s finest professional hair stylist that believe in one set of goals: To be the best hair salon in the tri-state through a continuous process of self-analysis and creativity; to inspire inventiveness in everyone we affect by offering stylists who have been educated at the highest levels this industry has to offer, building lasting relationships with our clientele and using exceptional products; and, to have a total blast doing it all!

Larkan James — Owner/Stylist

I have lived in the tri-state area my whole life born and raised.

I opened the Blue Duck Hair Salon in December of 2004, and have been a stylist since 1998. I have also attended multiple Bumble and bumble classes in New York City which included Business Emersion, Design Workshop, Design Studio, and Styling.

I Love Highlights and could do them with my eyes closed! I also love doing Up-do’s because they allow me to be creative. I also love working with all hair types, but I have a knack for finer hair.

I am a total nerd at heart. I have 3 kids. I play World of War craft (don’t laugh) I love 80’s music. I’m extremely laid back. So much that I’m not afraid to go to Target in my Pajamas. I taught Yoga for 2 years. I love to laugh.

I love my job and the Blue Duck!

Love my new hair! Larkan took 2 sessions and a total of 5 hours to make the change to my hair that I wanted. It turned out better than I thought was possible. I’m getting a lot of compliments. The people are laid-back, cheery & professional at this salon.

Ok… So I’m really hoping this doesn’t come across snooty. I have been living out West for the past 12 years and became accustomed to a huge selection of stylists that offered edgy haircuts. I have been to some high end salons and have paid anywhere from $ 45-$ 95 for a haircut. I have very fine hair that I keep short. Not everyone knows how to properly shape, texture, and point cut. If done incorrectly, you look choppy and masculine.
Today I stumbled upon the owner Larken. Both my sister and my 3 year old daughter also received haircuts today. Here’s the honest deal: this gal could charge $ 200… She’s that good! It was an amazing cut. She is well versed in her craft, warm, and extremely talented.
Her prices are ridiculously low…
I highly recommend her. The other staff were very friendly as well. If you want to look and feel like you just went to Beverly Hills or New York City but are struggling to find a stylist that can deliver. Look no more! She has the skill set to give you the best cut you’ve ever had!

While visiting Evansville/Henderson this past weekend, I realized I forgot to pack my hair products. I decided to get a quick trim and wash, and had a difficult time finding a place that had anyone available on Saturday around noon. Luckily, the Blue Duck Hair Salon was friendly on the phone, and got me in within 30 minutes of my phone call.
The salon is in a new shopping center, and is clean on the inside and out. Everyone on the inside is really friendly, and unique in their own ways. If you are anti-tattoos in the work place, don’t go here. BUT, being from out of town, and having tattoos, this place was perfect, because no one was rude, or judgmental.
Kristin was the stylist who cut my hair, and she was so nice. She was really helpful, knew what she was doing, and was very friendly while she was doing it. My trim was perfect (it sounds weird to say that, when it’s ONLY a trim. BUT I despise going to get a trim when I’m trying to grow out my hair, and they butcher 3 inches off). She even hooked me up with a few trial packets of products since I left mine in Texas.
