Specialties
We teach self-defense strategies that can be used effectively by men, women, and children. Our dojo has been in the south Everett area for over 12 years, and our instructors have deep experience and expertise. Our chief instructor, Shevitz-sensei, has studied aikido for nearly 20 years and continues to train with one of the original pioneers of the art.
History
Established in 2002.
Our dojo began in a small YMCA in the South Everett area. Over the course of five years, our membership grew to the point where we needed a space to call our own. Over the past six years, our dojo has become well-known for its quality of training, its entertaining and instructive childrens’ classes, and our community atmosphere.
Meet the Business Owner
Dave S.
Business Owner
Dave Shevitz holds the rank of Yondan (4th degree blackbelt) and has been a practitioner of Aikido Kokikai for nearly 20 years. He first saw Aikido Kokikai at the University of Washington. There, he was amazed at how powerful one could become by focusing on core principles of centeredness, relaxation, posture, and confidence. After he graduated from college, he continued his study and enjoyment of Kokikai Aikido.
When David moved north of Seattle, he began teaching at the Southeast YMCA to share his enjoyment of Aikido with others. His students enjoy the fact that his classes are a combination of rigorous training and humor.
