From small additions to complex remodels, weekend cabins to expansive mansions, single-​family developments to multi-​unit apartment complexes, our office can provide full structural engineering or simple lateral engineering. We can also provide retention vaults for developments.

Commercial

We are experienced in design with concrete masonry, tilt-​up panels, steel frames, and conventional wood framing and can provide full engineering support during construction.

Foundation

Regardless of the characteristics of the soil, we can provide a foundation system to make it work. We are experienced in rockery walls, retaining walls, deep foundation systems, soil retention systems, pin pile foundations, auger cast piles, and soldier pile walls.

Structural Investigations & Upgrades

We can assist you in many aspects of engineering including retrofitting and remodeling existing structures, determining the feasibility of a remodel, or provide structural recommendations following a fire or windstorm. We can also perform site visits to determine the seismic resistance of older structures and provide retrofits.

Business Owner

Chris Covington, Principal Engineer and Owner of Structural Design Associates INC (SDA), was a carpenter for 12 years prior to earning his Civil Engineering degree at the University of Washington. His extensive field experience and education are a rare combination in today’s market. Able to consider construction from the design and builder’s perspective, Chris and his team of engineers create designs that are economic, functional and elegant.
