Hole in the wall sushi place. Had the 911 roll along with the dragon roll. Best sushi I’ve ever had; the hotness(spice) was perfect, and the salmon was amazing. I will continue to roam around Seattle in search for the best seafood, but so far, this one takes the cake.

My boyfriend and I went to enjoy a lovely dinner Thursday night before they closed. We love it here because its a quite, clean and the service is exceptional! We ordered the sashimi + tempura combo, nabeyaki(seafood) udon my favorite and the ahi tuna poke salad(special order I always have to get it made at sushi joints). The sashimi combo came with salad, miso tofu soup, rice, mixed tempura, and the fresh fish plate. Amazingly a good deal for $ 38 between two people in my opinion. My favorite udon has to be served here! Although the price point is a little expensive on certain dishes, it’s very well worth it!

I usually like to try a place a couple of times before reviewing them but I’m not sure I’d go back. Not to say that anything was wrong, per se. Just nothing special about it at all. In fact, it took me a couple of minutes to remember what I ordered before I started typing. I tried a pork katsu, deep fried tofu and one piece of my friend’s sushi. The cutlet needed seasoning. Heck a little salt before breading would have made a huge difference. The sushi was good but ordinary. The spicy deep fried tofu on the other hand was fan-freaking-tastic.

I’ve been here twice, both times on a weekend. Both times, this place has been empty. I’m guessing the owner was our server. He is the best server ever. He comes at the perfect time to take your order, refills your water at the perfect time and picks up your plates at the perfect time. The food comes out in a flash. Let’s talk about the food now. We ordered the seared salmon roll… oh my. It is the best roll I’ve ever had. I can’t even explain the flavors, it’s too good. We also ordered the yakisoba and it was delicious. The potstickers are homemade! I feel bad they don’t get more customers, I want them to stay in business! This is my new favorite spot.

I have eaten sushi from tons of places and Sushi Zeng is hands down the best and freshest around!!! They are always quick and I never wait more than 10 minutes for my pick up order! They also have other menu items such as the Teriyaki Chicken which the kids LOVE! If you’re in the area try it, if not, it’s worth the drive :)

I went back here about a week ago. I ordered the Saba Seafood bento again with two pieces of super white tuna. The fish is super fresh, and the people are kind. Well, I ended up getting the Salmon bento that they brought me instead… it was okay, but not as good as the saba… also the cuts of fish are WAY smaller than I remember them, but at the same price…

Very attentive staff, consistently excellent food, the owner is willing to accommodate your palate, and the background music is pleasant and calming… not like some of the Asian restraunts that have techno-pop blaring… I appreciate you Suishi Zeng. Vickie D.

Sometimes sushi chef create roll for me to try. Amazing. I love spicy and their 911 roll is the best!!! Very important thing is foods are always consistent because sushi chef is there all the time!

I don’t go up to Everett much but one Saturday evening, my dad and family friends dragged me up there to go to Sushi Zeng. I figured, I needed food and I can never turn down sushi! I ordered a chirashi bowl. It wasn’t cheap… something like $ 27 but man did it come stocked! Looking at the photo, I’m thinking more than 10 varieties were in there. Tuna, salmon, white tuna, mackerel, sweet shrimp, octopus… etc. The sashimi was fresh and cut well. Everything tasted flavorful. I was pretty happy with my dish… er…bowl. I haven’t been back since because I don’t go up to Everett much, but I would not turn down a second go at this place if I were in the area!

I tried Sushi Zeng twice now, and both times I walked out not too impressed. I don’t understand all the great reviews here; at the best, Sushi Zeng is a OK Japanese joint for being in South Everett. I’ve tried few specialty rolls, and I have no complaints. They were fresh and tasty. So thumbs up for the sushi chef here. However, other dishes, udon, yakisoba, teriyaki dishes, etc(seems like all dishes from the kitchen, instead of the sushi bar) are sub par. They all remind me of cheap fast Chinese restaurant foods…, lots of grease, overpowering sodium and other taste enhancing chemicals. The quality of food is just not that good. Their tempura was ok, but all other dishes are comparable to Panda Express at best. Despite their decent sushi rolls, the reason why Sushi Zeng only gets 2.5 stars from me is because of their price. I have no problem paying good money for good food, but if I’m going to have so-so food, I expect to pay so-so price. Here, the price is noticeably higher than other Japanese restaurants in the area. Their lunch bento box is $ 15 – 16, when comparable bento(that are more fresh and tasty) are $ 10-$ 12 in other places. Donburi, katsu, teriyaki, udon, etc. are all slightly higher in price than their neighboring Japanese restaurants as well. Even the sushi rolls are more expensive than other places, but at least the quality and taste are good. Unless you are craving for sushi, this place is not high on my recommendation list. On the upside, the staff is quite friendly.

This place is rawrsome. My wife ordered the gyoza as an aside for the kids, but man, they appeared to be made of pure love or win — I’m not quite sure which. They had a delicate thin pastry and with just the right amount of sauce and the contents did a small explosion in your mouth. 99% of the Sushi was awesome. Kids loved the yakisoba. The pictures of the udon of and soba looked appetizing. I’ll have to try them on a very cold day when I’m in the mood. The eel appeared to be having an off day. Presentation was very nice, but it had slight fishy taste. Probably should have went on a Tuesday for the freshest. I don’t think they realize that the tinted windows on the front of the establishment make the place slightly uninviting, hiding the clean, well decorated restaurant within. Service was prompt, excellent, and extremely friendly, as the other reviews have mentioned. That said, if you Unilocalers ruin this for me and make it super popular so the staff become bitter, overworked, and chef sloppy I’ll be super pissed!

One of the best sushi restaurants around. Their sushi rolls and sashimi are really fresh and very tasty! We always get the 007 role(slightly fried, has cream cheese in it and very good!), the Red Heat(8 pieces of spicy tuna roll with fresh sliced magura tuna on top) and the Godzilla roll(shrimp tempura, unagi, cucumber, tobiko and avacado, so good!). I had the paradise roll one time and its ok but i wont get it again, but the 911 roll is fantastic! Overall, very friendly service and amazing tasting sushi!

What a strange name for a Japanese restaurant, a mixture of Japanese and Chinese. I guess it’s because the place is located in South Everett and most people here wouldn’t know the difference. For me personally, a mishmash of names typically means that it isn’t good, but once you start eating, it was very, very good. The décor was strange since they have a Chinese style landscape mural on the walls and a standard sushi bar setup with a TV on the wall. What was weirder was the country music playing, not your normal music in this type of establishment. The service was excellent and very friendly. We were greeted by the host/waitress upon entering and by the sushi chef. The waitress was very attentive, but not in a way that would be interpreted as a pest. About half way through the meal, the main chef came out to ask how we were doing and if everything tasted fine. I ordered the Zeng Bento(B), which had about 8 pieces of sashimi. The fish was very fresh and excellently cut(meaning no gristle). The tempura was very crispy and had no taste of oil. For the tempura novice, the heavy taste of oil means the cooking temperature was too low and the oil is old. The bento also included teriyaki steak and tonkatsu, both cooked very well. The tonakatsu wasn’t pounded or pressed so it was very tender and juicy. The steak cooked medium rare and covered with sauce. This sauce was a little too sweet for me, hence the 4 stars. The true test of the place is how clean the rest rooms are. They were very clean, neat and didn’t smell. In my opinion, if a restaurant pays attention to this detail, they are paying attention to all of parts of the restaurant. In regards to price, it is a great value. For some reason Japanese restaurant owners feel they can charge a premium price. However Sushi Zeng gives you a high value. If you are up in this area, I whole heartedly recommend this restaurant! You will not be disappointed.

Sushi joint in a strip mall off of 99 in south Everett? Yep, it’s a winner. No, really, it’s good. The interior is a mishmash of things(Chinese style mural paintings on walls, tiki hut style roofing over sushi bar, Japanese wares, Korean pop?/electronica dance music one time…) but the food is fresh and priced well. Here are some individual item reviews: Sushi Lunch Combo: 3 pieces of sushi, your choice of california roll or spicy tuna, salad, miso soup ~around $ 8 or $ 9 –it’s a decent sushi lunch for a great price Zeng Lunch Bento A: sushi, teriyaki chicken, tempura, tonkatsu, rice, salad, miso soup ~$ 15.95 –this lasted me two meals. sushi and hot items were all good, just heavy on the teriyaki sauce. actually, he’s heavy on the salad dressing, too. Katsu Donburi: pork cutlet cooked with eggs and onions and sauce over rice. ~$ 9.50 –his version has glass noodles. pretty tasty. Kitsune Soba A: hot soba(buckwheat) noodles with tofu pouches and spinach ~$ 8.95 –he used tofu pouches used for inari sushi, which made the bowl of noodles way too sweet. try using«abura age» next time, sushi zeng! by the way, it’s like they say: the owner is friendly. he’ll come around to check on you and the food. don’t be shy in giving feedback – i think he appreciates it~

Sushi Zeng is in a super unassuming area in Everett, but it’s worth the drive for the sushi they serve. We ordered the Yummy roll, the 911 roll and the Paradise roll. The Yummy roll(shrimp tempura, avocado, cucumber, crab, cream cheese w salmon on top) lives up to its name, though the pieces are a little large. The 911 roll, made with spicy tuna, shrimp tempura, with tuna on top and covered in spicy sauces hits the spot, though I could definitely feel the heat on them. The Paradise roll was tasty, but didn’t live up to the deliciousness of the other two rolls. The staff was very attentive to what we wanted to try and helped my mom(who is on crutches due to a broken leg right now) with making sure she was settled and comfortable. Can’t wait to go back again soon!

Came back second time for sushi & tempura with some friends. The sushi was fresh and crisp. The owner even recommended me some fresh fish of the day. The tempura was lightly breaded and crispy, doesn’t taste greasy either, you can tell they use only fresh ingredients. We ordered Salmon Skin roll, Caterpillar roll, Spicy Tuna roll, and tempura, we were stuffed afterward. The service was friendly as ever. Everything that I ordered in the menu has exceeded my expectation!

I would like to start off with the fact that I do NOT eat seafood and I have pretty much had a fear of sushi until this review. However, my boyfriend took me here and insisted I would love it, so here I go. I had the teriyaki chicken, yakisoba noodles, mimo/miso soup?(lol) and it was SOOOO good. It was even better than other teriyaki chicken I’ve ever tried. They serve you Edamame as their version of an appetizer(peas in a pod, lightly salted). OMG, amazing. I even went to the grocery store after and bought some lol Now onto the huge factor: SUSHI. I tried his rainbow roll, spicy tuna roll, AND the california roll and I absolutely loved it. I never thought those words would leave my mouth! I have no tolerance to hot things, so I thought I was going to die eating the spicy tuna roll, but beyond the fact my mouth was on fire, it was absolutely delicious. The california roll is probably my favorite, and I’ll definitely be back here to eat it. YUMMM :]
