This store is awesome. The employees are very knowledgeable about the titles and are eager to help. There’s also a clothing section where rare things like Spider Gwen hoodies are sold.(They’re sold out online currently) There’s a sign posted in the front of the store that says please don’t read the comics if you’re not going to purchase it. If an employee asked you to put it down, you were clearly reading it for a long time. I’ve never had an employee breathe down my back before from looking at the cover or flipping through it to see the art style. I’m not sure why other reviewers said that. Anyways, Everett is a bit of a drive for me but the content here is unique enough for me to make my way up here again quite often.

Being new to comics, and also wanting to get my son into comics, we decided to stop by the store on July 3, 2015 at 7:45pm. I picked up a copy of «Scott Pilgrim», having seen it on my friend’s FB a few times. I flipped through it to see if it’s something I’m interested in, and it was then that the employee rudely interrupted me. She said, «Excuse me, you have to buy the book before you read it!» Startled and in disbelief I replied, «I’m just browsing. I’ve never heard of it before.» To which the annoying, impolite employee *audibly huffed* and said, «Well, that’s why we’re happy to tell you about it.» And that is why the Comic Stop won’t be successful, and won’t be seeing me anymore. The only people in the store were mall rats and friends of the employees. The only prospective customer, me, was made uncomfortable and left with my wallet in tact, ready to spend somewhere else.

I came in to find an issue of a comic I’ve been wanting to get my hands on. Saw another comic that I may have wanted to pick up so I grabbed it. Decided otherwise and put it back exactly where I found it. The employee proceeded to accuse me of not placing it back properly. I felt a bit uncomfortable that the employee just assumed that I didn’t put back the comic book correctly. During the duration of my time there, I purchased the comic, but the employee was a bit too pushy with trying to find something I wanted even when I said it was alright. I understand upselling is part of the job, but that was bit much. I wouldn’t go out of my way to visit this comic store again, but if I was walking around the Everett Mall — sure.

I’ve been a satisfied customer of this and the other Comic Stops for quite some time. I go there and get great help from everyone concerned. The staff helps me find things and their suggestions when I solicited ideas for new things to check out have been excellent. The collections are current and updated with alerts on social media, weekly. Having said that, I have *NO* idea when the people writing negative reviews here stopped in. I can only surmise that the Everett Mall secretly opens after hours and brings in shambling zombies behind the counter. Or using Occam’s Razor, maybe the reviewers are of the human species that feels bad about themselves and can only feel better by berating captive employees behind the counter, whose customer service skills prevent them from snarking back. It’s so sad. So VERY sad.

Fairly good selection, with some hard-to-find stuff that you wouldn’t think they have. Todd, the kid working the counter, was a little dickweed though, and thought he was above everyone. Probably has Napoleon Complex, as he is vertically challenged.

The Comic Stop in Everett is convenient and has an adequate selection of recent comics and TPB. From what I can tell everything is priced at MSRP. The staff is mostly friendly and it beats Borders for selection because of that it’s your best option for comics in South Everett. If you’re looking for a wider selection try their Lynnwood location.

The best thing about this shop is that it is located in a mall, so that makes it easy to find… If you are looking for something more than the norm, you would be better off going to Barnes & Noble or Borders… this place only carry the books that will sell that week. On the plus side, The Comic Stop is the group that puts on the Emerald City Comic Con every year, so they are the only place to goto if you want to know whats going to go on at the next con…
