The Home Depot

I don’t go to Home Depot often, but when I do I usually have no idea where to find what I’m looking for and end up wandering around the store for a while. Luckily at this location they have SUPERB customer service so I can always find a helpful, knowledgeable staff member to help me find what I’m looking for.

I am not a person who usually writes reviews. However, our experience today needs to be shared. My husband and I visited the Everett Home Depot last week and were given a price of $ 49/​sq ft for a granite countertop. This included free installation and a free sink. Great! Went back today to place our order. Saw the posted $ 49 price and we thought we were good to go. We sat with the saleswoman for about an hour setting our order in motion. Now the problems… First of all the sink is not included. Then, When our order was entered, the price came up as $ 53/​sq. ft. Finally had to get the manager on the phone. Our saleswoman tried to have him honor the posted price, but he refused. He said the reason was that the vendor wouldn’t allow it. However, we were offered the opportunity to place and pay for our $ 2700 order today and try to get the contractor to give us a refund later. We also intended to purchase an $ 800 stove today, as well. This is certainly not good customer service! We left and they have lost our business.

Why do cashier at this h. d act like they own the place? Just ring ppl up and stfu. This trailer trash «manager» at the registered acting like she owns the place. My company spends thousands and thousands of dollars and she talking about I can’t get 5% for using my h. d card when I’ve been using their card for years. Gtfoh!!!

Way understaffed!
I was here on tax free weekend, so that may have been part of the problem. But even though the store actually wasn’t that full of customers, it was like pulling teeth to get help with anything.
There weren’t prices or any information at all on half the washing machines and dryers, which made it really difficult to shop around. After waiting 20 minutes for someone to help us (since they only had 2 or 3 employees in the whole appliances section), we finally flagged down an employee, and she just looked up the Home Depot website on Google to find the prices and information. What?! I was tempted to go around with my iPhone, a pen, and post-​it notes and put the prices and capacities on all the washers and dryers myself.
There’s no excuse for a store to not even label its inventory. Don’t come here unless you’re trying to make a career as a detective!

I think the management of this store has gone downhill. As others have noted, the unmotivated staff far outnumber the motivated staff. Their inventory is unpredictable and they don’t keep good track of it. Many items are actually returns that have been repackaged and often have parts missing.
Interestingly, last Christmas we bought a tree from them, and it was a rather good tree, which was surprising and the person who helped us with the tree was very good.

I have never written a review on Unilocal before and am not typically a complainer, but this place warrants the worst ratings possible. This particular Home Depot is the closest one to my house so I have had the unfortunate pleasure of coming here several times over the last few years. I’m sure that some of the employees are fine or even stellar, but the many staff members I have encountered have been either extremely rude, disinterested, or incapable of doing their job.
Tried to get some boards cut last year, had to wait 30 minutes because out of the many employees on shift only one guy had the training to run the saw and he was nowhere to be found. Even the assistant manager couldn’t help me. When the saw guy finally did arrive, he couldn’t care less that we had been waiting and chatted with one of the other employees for another 5 minutes then couldn’t answer any questions I had. The tool rental guy is super rude and acts like it’s the biggest inconvenience ever to do his job. Had a sprained ankle and hobbled in to get a few things from the garden department, could the two employees with no other customers around check me out at the customer service desk so I don’t have to limp all the way down to the registers? Nope. Hire some better people Home Depot. Train them and get rid of the ones who give your store a bad name.

I go to this HD a lot because of the Costco right next to it. Sure, some guys there know more than others, but, the two people I’ve actually needed to rely on for assistance as I’ve been renovating my kitchen were both quite helpful.
Quick background on my renovation knowledge is, I’ve never done it before, but, I Google, I watch a lot of HGTV, that kinda thing. So I know the basics of good kitchen design, but, that’s about it.
The cabinet guy Rao has seriously spent at least 4 – 5 hours with us. We came in with an initial floorplan in mind, but we’ve had to change it 3 times since (our floorplan has proven a bit tricky due to some pipe placements.) He had a bunch of ideas, some of which we took, some of which we didn’t. He’s called Kraftmaid 3 times to try and get us a new model of cabinet (foot-​swipe activated auto-​open trash cabinet) which they have not yet distributed to HD. He told us a bunch of ways we could get discounts, and we ended up getting 15k worth of Kraftmaids for 11k. Really enjoyed working with him.
Also worked with John F in the Doors & Windows dept, spent 2 hours with him trying to design some custom windows with some very specific dimensions and decoration.
Talked to the manager there once about something, she was totally fine and friendly.
Only not giving it 5 stars because, well, you can’t 5-​star a Home Depot, that kind of just dilutes the meaning of the 5-​star.

Ghost town near closing. Quite simply not the hardware store of our forefathers. The helpful/​interested service staff to terrible/​disinterested service staff seems close to 1:43. How can there be so many people wandering around yet unsure of where things like «packing tape» exist on shelves for purchase.
Why oh why.
Compare their staff with other hardware stores (ahem, starts with A and ends with ice minus the i). I often play games with their staff by asking where oddities exist. They. Always. Know. How? I have no idea but it has proven to me that hardware store staff CAN know where products are located within their place of work.

On the very plus, an employee helped me jam a fully-​assembled dual smoker/​gas grill in to the back of KG’s whip. With –3 inches to spare, he ran back inside, snagged some tools and returned to detach the chimneys, lift the meat charring chassis and wedge it in the trunk. Is that a hand raised? Yes, yes sir, do you have comment?
«That’s what she said.»
Real mature.
Anyway, the whole thing took 20 minutes and the staffer did it with a smile.
On the negative, you get what you pay for and that includes free assembly for purchased items. Said grill had loose bolts, missing pieces, a broken grill grate (they replaced it with one from the floor model) and the kicker… the gas and smoker hoods were swapped. Kinda hard to infuse cherry wood in to a pork butt when there are massive vents on the rear of your smoker top. Meanwhile, if the jets die on the gas side, you’re basically accumulating an explosive cloud of propane.
Net net: service is a plus, assembly is a minus, inventory is standard Home Depot.

The customer service at Home Depot seems to be going down the tubes. I was a looking for a particular light and online it showed the store has 67 lights. I called same night to make sure and the person told me that yes, they are in stock. I made a special trip the following day to finds out that the lights are no on the shelf and «maybe on a truck» and was todl to come back. This situation happened to the Home Depot in Watertown and Waltham. THe assosiates working in those store do not even care about the customers and did not even want to show a good effort to try to help me.

Okay, so why am I writing a review on Home Depot? I’ll make it short and simple. I’m moving, and I needed bubble wrap for my more fragile items. First and foremost, Home Depot sells bubble wrap that is GREEN. It’s not just that it is colored green, but it is made from recycled plastic. Second, I wanted a 100-​foot roll, but on the night I was there, the store only had 75-​foot rolls and 125-​foot rolls. After staring quixotically at the shelf, someone came over (plus the store was closing) and asked if I could use some help. I pointed to a few rolls shoved on the shelves between aisles and asked if those were 100-​foot rolls. He climbed in and checked for me, but they were just more 75-​foot rolls. He yelled to the cashier closest to us and told her that the 125-​foot roll of bubble wrap he just handed me was to be $ 3 off, so that it would be the price of the smaller roll. Now that’s good customer service. It’s the little things that count/​matter.

Home Depot is getting better and better at delivering consistant experience across all their stores. Folks keep most of the shelves well-​arranged and I never left without what I was looking for. Might be the time to buy some HD stock.

The staff new exactly where to go when we asked about a certain item. Seemed to have a good selection of items and well laid out, although we weren’t fully shopping so I can’t be certain about the whole store. The store was clean. Staff at checkout was even overly nice, going out of her way to be super pleasant.

How much does Home Depot suck? Well, I went to the Home Depot in Everett, AM today. I went get a water filter for the refrigerator. So, I went to the appliance department and the moron there told me to go to Aisle 9. What was in Aisle 9? Water purification systems. So, I asked another Einstein where I could find water filters for refrigerators. He sent me back to the appliance department. After going back to the first department I was at, I was told be another genius that she did not know where the filters were. I gave up. I then went outside to find some landscape stakes for outdoor weed fabric. A third genius told me that they were at the other end of the store in lumber. Of course I started to feel that these people were all on drugs, and I walked 5 FEET down the aisle from where I asked the third moron, and lo and behold, there were the landscape stakes. No wonder why Home Depot is losing business. Morons. Not one of them could tell me where to find a thing, even though they were less than ten feet away from the product.

Noticed much improved customer service at Home Depots across the board. Employees are pleasant and helpful. They are knowledgeable and goes above and beyond to answer your questions.

I enjoy walking around home depot in Everett, the store is set up so when you browse around you can get ideas for your next project !!
I resently went to paint a room the most helpful employees are their from the Time I found my paint to mixing, and assuring me to try paint brushes, I might not have chosen, it made my painting much easier also ask about painters tape which made it so easy not to make huge mess !!
On to the lighting found awesome light that accent my room without over matching ‚
And as I was browseing I found small area that has custom blinds and guess what, you guessed it they showed me how to measure and pick out the most beautiful blinds and the latest styles ‚

Will 100% be going back for my next project!

This Home Depot has pretty decent service for a Home Depot, better than the Somerville one. It’s nice because it’s in the same shopping center as Bed Bath & Beyond, Target, Petsmart, and Costco, so if you are into efficient shopping like me, this is the place to go! I can’t say too much else since most Home Depots pretty much have the same materials in stock.

Nice staff, clean store.

Its Home Depot which I love & this store never really seems to be swamped so that is a plus for me…
