Honestly, I did not know what the hell I was in for when I attended my first Hula Aerobics class. I seriously thought that there was going to be hula hoops and we were going to work our hips. But, that’s not how it went. Yes, there is Hawaiian and local music and yes, you most definitely work them hips. And, I love it. But no hula hoops or hula skirts. Pamela, the instructor, is so outgoing and so forward. So, stay away if you don’t like that! I was a little unsure of her at my first class but this lady will work you and she will work you good. So, I came back, again and again. I’ve lost 2 inches off my waist and I fully anticipate losing 2 more! Whether the workout includes weights or not, I always feel really good after our 45 minute class($ 4.50/class if you buy a 10 class punch card). It’s like, getting a mini boot camp kicking or a nice pilates/yoga session in for the day. It just depends on everyones’ moods because she goes off the vibe of the class and tries to be very accommodating for each class. Pamela helps everyone focus on what they want to work on(whether it be hips, things, or tummy pooch). She will tell you the best way to do it, encourage you to breathe, and correct you very kindly(even when you think she’s not looking). This attitude comes from her personal trainer side and I appreciate that about her and the class. Now, for the location. You can NOT beat the location of this class. It is on the beach in the West side of Oahu. What a way to unwind after work… on the beach… with a breeze… feeling good. SOLD.
