Astro of New England, LLC. was established in March of 2000. The President of Astro, Chuck Lamendola, Jr., first started in the moving industry in 1978 as an Owner-​Operator for Wheaton Van Lines. By bringing his 30+ years of experience and quality of service into his own agency, Astro has been successful with providing both their commercial and residential customers throughout the U.S. the highest quality of service. Chuck has instilled a «customer first» approach to all levels of his company. By surrounding himself with professionally trained Drivers, Movers, Office Personnel, and Sales Representatives, Astro has grown rapidly as Rhode Island’s premier mover and is known for their outstanding service.

I hired Astro of New England to help me move recently from Providence to Cranston. I could not have been more impressed. They arrived on time, were friendly, and were super fast. Some movers can drag their feet racking up the bill, but not these guys. They also did the setup up on the other end and made sure I was happy with where everything was. Literally the moment they finished they contacted the company to keep the time exact. They were careful with all my stuff. It was one of the best customer service experiences I’ve had in a while and it was worth every penny.

We are currently in the middle of a move and our total cost estimate was underquoted by 62%. Astro quickly resolved the issue the next day and solved this crisis. While I probably won’t use them again, they did make good on their promises.

When they first came to visit my 80 year old mom, they were very thorough and gave her a verbal estimate, followed by a couple of days later by a written estimate. When they came to pack on a Saturday, they did an excellent packing job and then returned on Monday to move it all. My mom’s cat freaked out (cuz that’s the way the cat rolls) and the movers were really super nice and helpful to help settle the cat and get her out of harms way.
The move went really smoothly. They showed up on time, it took the amount of time they estimated, nothing got broken, the movers were really good about moving furniture to where my mom wanted it, one of the movers took a lot of care to get my mom’s bed set up, etc. My mom even ended up paying a few hundred dollars less than the estimate because she did some packing up front.
She would use them again and was treated more than fairly — very nicely.

The owner chuck is a complete jerk, has no patients or consideration for seniors citizens and is nothing more than a thug with a business license.

I couldn’t have asked for better service and pricing in moving a dining set from RI to NJ. Price was very reasonable, crews were professional, punctual, careful, and friendly. I was always kept up to date on the schedule, and my calls were promptly returned. I highly recommend this company to anyone!

I couldn’t be happier with the service I received from Astro. One of their associates came out a week prior to the move to provide a quote, I was emailed an estimate of the charges and was told that it was rare when they go over the estimated moving time, and they were easily accessible via email. On the day of the move, Astro showed up at exactly the time they said they were showing up (8am) and they exuded professionalism from beginning to end. The foreman (Tim) worked with his two associates to ensure the move was done right, and they wouldn’t leave until I was satisfied with the location of the furniture. They performed the move in less time so the final bill was $ 170 lower than the estimate. That was an awesome surprise.
I recommend Astro highly, and would want to caution anyone using a moving company that doesn’t come out to examine the contents of your move as not doing so can result in a wildly inaccurate quote. I almost went with a mover based in Central Falls because their hourly rate was $ 17/​cheaper, but the owner of that place didn’t want to come to my house, he rushed me on the phone when I was trying to tell him the contents of my house, and then he mentioned that he uses a 24′ truck (Astro uses a 36′) so it would take a couple of trips to do the move. No thanks.

I moved from Newport to Bristol recently and had Astro move all my furniture. So I can’t comment on any packing services but the guys that moved us were great. They were on time, efficient, extremely responsive, cheerful, and in short, made the move go well… even moving heavy items up a tiny staircase in an old house. The price was entirely reasonable. I would hire them again.

Want to indulge yourself the next time you have to move? Tired of schlepping those boxes of books and CDs up and down numerous flights of stairs? Does your idea of packing glasses and plates involve throwing everything in a box and covering it with a towel?
Do yourself a favor and call Greg at Astro — hiring a mover isn’t cheap, but it’s not as expensive as you might think either. Greg figured out the level of service Astro could provide while staying within my budget and didn’t attempt any hard selling tactics. On moving day the crew showed up — and I was very impressed by their level of professionalism.
Now that I’m in my new home and finally finished unpacking, I’m pleased to report that not one item was broken or misplaced. These guys are highly recommended if you are moving from or within the RI area.
