Gotham City Diner

This place has gone down hill. First, it’s dirty, there’s flies everywhere and the bathroom looks like a gas station bathroom, filthy! The food is overpriced, it’s fair lawn not Beverly Hills, my almost $ 20 salad was crappy and not fresh. Get a cleaning service in and take care of your diner. I’ll stick to the clean ones in waldwick and Paramus.

HIT OR MISS!!! I ordered a deluxe cheeseburger with fries and both came out stale! This isn’t the first time that its happened. Very displeased.

Came for brunch on a Tuesday. This diner is located right on Route 4, with plenty of parking. It’s large, clean, and they have an ice cream counter and dessert bar. Our waitress, Jackie, was very friendly, even though we were a little slow to order. She also came by with drink refills very quickly.
I ordered the corned beef hash and eggs. it was very standard, nothing special. But they did burn my corned beef hash as I had asked. Home fries were a little different than the standard since they seemed to be made with red potatoes, which was nice. The prices are actually much lower than the other diners in the area, which was surprising.

Our Waitress was fantastic! HOWEVER, the diner is not very clean. The coffee mug I was given was filthy! It definitely wasn’t cleaned properly. The menus stuck to each other and were disgusting, I didn’t even want to touch it. Once our food came out, there were flies all around us. The food wasn’t thoroughly cooked. I mean come on.
It’s sad to say but I will never come to eat here again. The location is convenient and the diner itself is nice but the diner needs attention. Management needs to be aware of this. Your diner has gone to crap since the last time I’ve been here with my family.

Friday night expected wait time, but took way too long to get food. Bacon tasted like the oil it was fried in, salad was gross. Perhaps I got the wrong dressing, but it definitely was the awful Cesar dressing that ruined the salad. Mixed greens salad was mostly iceberg. Tomatoes not ripe, and the chick peas were gross. Bread in onion soup was rock hard. Rib eye was fatty, broccoli was hard. Mashed potatoes were ok. Tums when I got home. Ugh.

Get the breakfast menu! Even if it’s at night, get breakfast. That’s where this place really shines. I always get the avocado benny, which has never failed to amaze me.
Not exactly cheap, but portions are pretty big. Service has always been pretty good and I love the overall atmosphere inside.

One of my favorite Jersey diners. I’ve never had a bad meal.
Always get a cup of Onion Soup.

A bit pricey for a diner honestly, but quality is better than that of a diner so I guess one offsets the other. Pretty good spot although I don’t eat here too often. Ordered take out and only complaint is it was slightly mushy.

Super Nice Restaurant waiter’s are prompt and egar to make your Visit plesent. Restaurant setting has a very interesting feel to it with décor from all around NYC from street signs to classic coke bottles. Food and drinks are amazing great for groups and dates.

My food was quite bland… As I suspected it would be.
This place doesn’t exceed the late night diner expectation.
I ordered a chicken sandwich on a pretzel bun and it was soooo tateless!

Not your average diner! The décor is really unique and they have a large selection of food options. Service is pretty average but food is delicious. Try the Carolina dry rub wings!

I used to come here every Friday for dinner and the service and quality of food was amazing, I came here alone a few weeks ago and the service was really bad but I figured since it was close to closing time I’d let it slide and give it another shot. So I start by ordering a cappuccino and it looked delicious but when I took a sip and it tasted like someone poured pancake syrup into it. I spoke to the waitress and asked if she could send me out another one with no sugar, she said sure then sent out another one. This one was all steamed milk and no espresso, so I asked if they could send me a little espresso to add to it. Then I order eggs and bacon with the bacon well done, it comes out pitch black falling apart burnt. Then as I’m eating my home fries there is a curly black hair mixed in. My hair is red so it wasn’t mine. Then I go pay the bill and I see I was charged $ 7.00 for the cappuccino. Never returning again.

A great variety of choices at a reasonable price! I’ve tried their Bari wrap and smoked salmon benny, and I’ve loved them both. I’ve tried a few other dishes too, but I can’t remember them at the top of my head.
When my boyfriend and I feel like going out to eat but don’t feel like spending much money or driving more than 10 minutes, this is our go-​to.

While this diner is one of the better in Bergen County, the service I experienced tonight was inconsistent, and not what I am used to from Gotham. If I hadn’t been here several times prior, I’m unsure if I would have returned. Luckily, the food quality is outstanding and made up for the experience I had tonight, which is why I’m giving Gotham 4 stars instead of 5. Our server brought out the wrong food for two people in our party and completely forgot part of my meal until I asked him for it.
This aside, the food, as usual, was great and fresh. There are plenty of options to choose from and you never leave hungry. We are used to excellent service from Gotham and were a bit let down tonight, but I’ll continue to head to Gotham when I’m in the mood for a diner.

BBQ Cobb salad was delicious. Portion size is very generous and the service was great. I would definitely eat here again in their diner style booths.

Ordered breakfast… first messed up my order and i let it go. Went to taste it and the omelet had no flavor!
My hubby ordered sliced skirt steak sandwich… complete mess… wasnt even sliced it was just chopped up in chunks!
My son ordered a burger… couldn’t blame him for not eating it. NO FLAVOR!!!
Only thing that was edible were the fries and even that needed some salt n pepper

One of my favorite diners in northern NJ. Always clean, fast, and has great food. I like to make my own omelet– asparagus, tomato, onions, and motz cheese & egg whites. YUM YUM YUM
Their HOMEFRIES are the Best I’ve had in northern NJ, fresh and crispy just the way I like them. They have a huge variety of Benedict’s. Try the avocado Benny. It’s so delicious! And comes with HOMEFRIES :) they also have a good variety of specialty French toast. We had the s’mores and the Boston cream. Both delicious. Our waiter was fast and came back with coffee and water refills several times.

I have been coming to Gotham City Diner for many years now. I remember when it 1^st opened up, it was one of my favorite places to go and everything was amazing. The restaurant underwent new management and I started going less and less. The vibe of the restaurant changed too to more mellow. The prices went up and the staff constantly kept changing. However, still a very solid diner.
As for the menu, the mashed potatoes here are the best ive ever had. Some of my favorite dishes are the Asian chicken salad, Thai Skirt Steak Salad. The bbq chicken wrap is definitely one of my favorite things ever. But this was in the old days.
I went last night for Father’s Day. Our server was such a sweetheart and very patient. I ordered the BBQ Cobb Salad which was a good portion and did not skimp on protein. The bbq sauce was SMOTHERED in bbq sauce which made the chicken taste way too sweet and im pretty sure the bacon was imitation.
The interior is so cute, very nostaligic of New York City and the subway signs are very cute.

One morning when my friend woke me up at the ass crack of dawn we decided breakfast was a must but we didn’t want to go to our local spot and run into our entire high school so we b-​lined it here to Gotham City Diner.
We walked in and were greeted rite away by the hostess and brought to a booth as requested. As soon as we sat down we were brought water and menus not that either of us needed them because we always order the same thing… a cup of coffee, two eggs over easy with well done home-​fries, bacon and sausage.
My coffee arrived hot and fresh and my food followed shortly after. Eggs were cooked perfectly along with the bacon and sausage. Home-​fries could of been crisper but they never listen to me when I ask for well done home-​fries no matter where I go. no big deal. Over all a good place to come and grab a bite to eat with fast and friendly service.
Side note they do not serve alcohol until after 12 so no Bloody Mary’s for you!

Ambiance/​Décor/​Atmosphere: I don’t know why but when I look at Gotham City I think train terminal from yesteryear. The accents are pretty cool and are reminiscent of an older New York City, or some part of Grand Central Station. Overall, the interior is a bit funky in a good way. You wouldn’t think this place is a diner, but it is.
Noise/​sound level: This is a relatively popular restaurant, but the noise level isn’t really distracting. Your experience won’t require you to shout at your friends and guests.
Menu: Believe it or not, but Gotham City Diner is a diner, and in that respect the meun is full of the run of the mill diner selections. And, as a diner the menu is larger than it needs to be, but not as large as most diners. Pretty much anything you want from a diner can be had here.
Service: Better than typical diner service, and still friendly, warm, informative, welcoming, and all the good stuff you’d want from a restaurant. Ticket times are decent for the most part.
Food: Even though this is a diner the food is done in a higher quality than a standard diner. But, like most other diners the chefs have trouble hitting burger temps. However, most of the items I’ve had were cooked correctly, seasoned sufficiently, and tasted well.
Bar: Full.
Price: Since this is more or less an upscale diner the price points are also a little upscale. But, the quality is higher than other places like Saddle Brook Diner, so the prices are slightly justified.
Overall: A better than standard diner, but still a diner. In this area I’d rather go to Gotham City than Saddle Brook, Elmwood Park, Parkway, or Chit Chat diners. The food is above average, place is clean, service is pretty good, and you can drink your ass off while eating disco fries.
