Fair Oaks Auto Repair

Absolutely do not get your car repaired here — especially if you are a woman! I dropped my son’s truck off for a diagnostic check in the early afternoon. The shop never called me to provide a diagnosis or estimate. The next day I finally called them at 1:30 as I still had not heard from them. To my surprise, they had already completed the repairs. I asked what the cost was and said I would be in to pick it up. However, when I arrived to get the vehicle, the had just about DOUBLED the price I was quoted on the phone.
It was one of those repair shop nightmares you worry about experiencing as a woman. NEVER AGAIN. Do not trust these people!!!

PLEASE DONT GO HERE! they will scam u out of your money! I took my car here they charged me almost 500 bucks n didn’t fix my car. They took the only money I had to fix my car. lied to me n sent me away with a car that has the same problem I started with. Then when I brought my car back to them they tried to charge me almost another 500 bucks n told me that they fixed it already n that there’s another problem!?? How is it fixed when it’s doing the same thing I brought it there for? I wouldn’t give them any stars if I could but unfortunately 1 is the lowest u can go. Save you’re money n go somewhere more credible these guys ARE NOT! legit mechanics smh.

This is in regards to the complaint made on October 9^th 2014. On Monday October 13^th I received a call from CarHop stating they were going to pay for the oxygen sensors and the shift transponder. Julie stated that she spoke with John at fair oaks auto repair agreed to refund my card because CarHop is covering it. I take the car in this morning, ask about the refund John tells me he will post it to my card when u pick up the vehicle. I just picked up the vehicle. John tossed both receipts at me and said the key is in the car. I ask about the refund John then throws the better business bureau complaint at me and says he is NOT REFUNDING MY MONEY until I retract my complaint and write a letter of apology. So this shop just got paid twice for the same repair. I filed fraud with my bank. This is the worst run auto shop ever. I will also be filing a lawsuit for this company charging me when my warranty paid for it.

Omar and his team are the best. My mother in law referred me to Fair Oaks Auto Repair over a year ago. While some time has passed since we’ve been there (we got a new car), their outstanding service and work always stand out to me whenever someone asks for a reputable shop.
I had a Chevy Monte Carlo that was giving me issues. I explained the problems to them and they asked to observe and test it for the day. They were not able to find the exact cause of the problem initially. Instead of jumping and repairing things and then telling me the cost, Omar called me and broke down what I could do vs. what a smart, financial decision would be. (the car needed to go… it wasn’t worth me putting more money into it than it was worth)
Not only was he honest, he only charged me half of the fee to look at it since he had no solid answer. Awesome!
I am generally a very good sense of character and could tell Omar had my best interest in mind not his pocket book.
Also, my mother in law would take her Prius to them for routine service and would always have raving reviews!!!

They talk the talk but no way do they walk the walk. I don’t think they have any understanding of how to repair import cars. I’m still being held hostage by their ongoing repair costs. I brought my smooth running car in for some minor repairs and now $ 4,000 later it still is not street worthy and cannot be driven out of the shop.
This is an update to the above review. In other words Part II. I sought the services of an intermediary concerning my less than desirable experience with Fair Oaks Auto Repair. That person and Omar Carrasco worked together to come up with a resolution that was acceptable to all parties concerned. Work was redone and this time without a hitch. This time around Omar had much more input which was to our betterment and satisfaction. He conducted himself with absolute total professionalism. It is my opinion that Omar could step into a position as a Service Manager at a high-​end auto dealership in a heartbeat. He is truly the «nuts and bolts» of Fair Oaks Auto Repair.
Epilog
I would recommend diligent customers to visit Fair Oaks Auto Repair and confer with Omar Carrasco concerning their needed auto maintenance and/​or repairs.
Current update:
Omar left this shop over a year ago and it has gone downhill ever since. I have had warranty work done there and it was like pulling teeth. The same part that was replaced twice keeps failing. I finally took the car to a dealer to have the repairs done correctly. John, the owner needs to retire and close the shop for good. Read others that have had similar problems with this shop. Stay away from this very bad repair shop.

This shop is great! Nobody likes to have their car repaired but it has to be done and this place its a great choice. Totally great customer service. I never get the feeling I am getting ripped off. And the staff knows what they are talking about. I would recommend this shop for regular maintenance or repairs.

Top notch customer service! These guys are very professional. In the office you will hear them call customers by their title, «Mr. Lastname» or «Mrs. Soandso» and they remember you if you are a previous customer. They want you to come back so they are honest with you about what your car needs and they don’t rip you off. I read all the other reviews on Unilocal and noticed there are a lot of great ones that have been filtered. Don’t just take my word for it, read the reviews that aren’t showing up on the main page! If you are looking for a shop with a personal touch that will repair your car the right way without charging too much then give them a call for sure!

A solid shop with all the equipment. They work on all cars and even on my vdub. I’ve been here several times. Great technicians who get the job right quick n fast!

I have been taking my car to fair oaks auto repair for over 20 years. They are always cheaper than the dealer and know the best way to get and keep your car running. They are open on Saturdays if you need your car during the week to get to work. They are they best.

I was refered to them for help after Mak’s Smog Check recommended them to me. I have a very particular type of issue with my car with the O2 sensors being buggy, so another mechanic decided to «solve» the problem by resetting it to zero. Problem was that screwed with getting my car registration smog check, so the mechanics here took a look at it. The nicest part is that besides doing extensive research on the issue is that they didn’t charge me anything for the evaluation and advice (drive to San Francisco & back to log enough data, which worked). Since then I’ve used them twice for repairs and been really pleased. Sometimes repairs aren’t cheap, but overall it’s been way more affordable and unlike going to the dealer service department, they’re there to solve a problem for you, versus selling you a whole suite of goods. And like I said, they are generous with their advice as I had another issue (road debris tore off my fender mud guard) where I was wondering if it merited repair. Also they do actually remember you as their customer, versus other shops, because anytime I’ve called Omar knows how I am, my car, and the history off the top of his head.
