I ordered beef lo mein from them and they instead sent me beef fried rice. My kids already dug in when I called them to complain and the lady said she’d send some one out. They actually tried to take back the fried rice like they would re sell to someone else how gross!!! And then the delivery driver proceeded to yell at my husband for the eaten food. This place is horrible. We called back to complain and the lady yelled at me and called me a liar! The last time I order from them after countless times they made mistakes!!! I’d honestly give them zero stars if I could!

Stopped by since I was famished. Was greeted by a rude impatient lady. I asked her for something moist and with a lot of gravy and she had no answer for that. She kept getting impatient so I finally ordered beef schezwan. It was full of julliened carrots and celery with barely any meat. Some of the meat was grizzly. Overall no flavor in the food. I could cook better at home.

This has been my go to hole-n-the-wall take-out Chinese spot for YEARSSS. Simple, no frills, delicious, fresh, and consistently good. Do not let the strip mall deter you. Take Out: Yes, they deliver within a 3 mile radius. $ 12 minimum order. The delivery man is extremely sweet. If you are ordering pick up, your food will be ready in 15 minutes. Lunch Specials: If you can take advantage of them(Mon — Friday 11AM — 3PM) are a generous portion of whatever you order, pork fried rice(or plain white rice), an egg roll and a soft drink. Sadly, it’s been years since I have been able to. China Shanghai has never gotten my order incorrect. In fact, when requested, they even make my food spicier. For the Burke/Fairfax Station area, this is my preferred Chinese take-out spot.

Great food, extremely quick delivery service, quick chinese meal and lots of leftovers. This has been our goto Chinese carryout since we moved to the area 13 years ago. Its as good and quick today and it has been all along. Food is tasty, prepared to order and delivered very fast. They usually tell you 45 minutes to deliver when you order, and frequently its at the door in 20 minutes. Even though this is in a strip mall, don’t let that fool you. Its a great find and I highly recommend you checking it out. By the way, their drivers aren’t afraid of a little snow, or even a big snow. They delivered in storms where more than a foot of snow was on the ground and had no problem getting the food to our door. Reliable, good and quick, what more could you ask for!

Don’t let the«strip mall» image, and lack of eat-in service put you off of China Shanghai. The food here was quite good. My family and I decided to give China Shanghai a try after our favorite go-to place recently closed forever(we are still grieving). Reluctant to «go big» and risk disappointment we did not order as much food as we typically would. Instead we opted to share two appetizers, soup and an entrée. I wish we had ordered more! We chose Chicken on a Stick, Egg Rolls, Won Ton Soup, Hot & Sour Soup and Sesame Chicken. The Chicken on a Stick was really tasty, with generously sized portions, and cooked to perfection. The Egg Rolls were very good — crunchy without being greasy, and the filling featured an outstanding fresh cabbage taste. Both soups were very average, and not hot enough. We fixed that issue with a quick zap in the microwave while we enjoyed the Chicken on a Stick and Egg Rolls. Sadly, even after being re-heated the soup was still disappointing. The Hot & Sour soup was bland in terms of flavor, but did have a nice, spicy kick to it. The Won Ton Soup had a metallic taste that I disliked. The Sesame Chicken was excellent. A very appealing presentation, even in the takeout container, the meaty, bite-sized chunks of chicken were fried but not greasy, and were topped with a really tasty sauce that complimented the dish rather than overpowering it(which is a pet peeve of mine when it comes to Sesame Chicken). The entrée was served on a bed of gorgeous, steamed broccoli that was fresh, crisp and yummy. We will definitely be ordering from China Shanghai again! And now for what my kids thought… Kid’s Corner by «Stewie» China Shanghai was a good restaurant with a good selection of dishes that varied from a nice, crispy egg roll to a juicy piece of Sesame Chicken. The food was prepared quickly, and the owners were polite, kind and patient while we looked at their menu.

GREAT prices, especially during lunch! Good food and speedy delivery, but usually I just order for pick up since the restaurant is less then a mile from my house. The Crab Rangoons are the best, and cooked perfectly. Family owned, and the people are nice. I continue to enjoy food here and a problem has yet to occur.

Favorite Chinese take out place in Fairfax /Burke area. Try the curry chicken — they can substitute for broccoli for the usual onions.

We did take out in this tiny place next to the Twinbrooke Outback. It’s definitely a no-frills place but they appeared to get a good takeout crowd. We ordered the won tons(too greasy), the fried rice(strange color to the rice, but good portion), and the lo mien(not my fav, too many noodles, not enough combo items), and the beef and noodles(good). Would I go back? Not sure since there are quiet a few places in the Burke/Springfield area. This was just the place that was nearest to my local errands that night.

It is the only Chinese Restaurant in the area that has a Healthy section(Health Diet Special) and it’s good and simple Stir Fry. I like HOT n SPICY and they listen. I seem to always get their D5 and it is for a selfish reason. I eat the Shrimp and some of the Veggies for Dinner and pack the Beef and the rest of the Veggies for lunch the next day. Also, the Szechuan Wonton gets better and better after a couple of days, marinating in that addictive wonderful sauce. They have a terrific selection for all tastes– Szechuan — Hunan –Mandarin and American Style Chinese Cuisines. They have Take-Out, and Delivery(3 mile radius) Check it out !

China Shanghai is a little hole-in-the-wall in the Twinbrook Shopping center at the corner of Braddock Rd and Twinbrook Rd. It’s strictly a no-frills take-out place with 2 seats, a table(for waiting, not eating) and a large drink cooler. I haven’t eaten much on the menu(my wife doesn’t like their crab rangoon) but whenever I go to my parent’s house I always make a point to get a take-out order of crystal chicken. I love the crystal chicken. But that’s about it. I know they have been closed from time to time for *cough*healthcodeviolations*cough* but to be honest that’s never stopped me from getting an order of that delicious, magical crystal chicken.
