Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa

Two stars for the ambience. The staff are ok. I’ve been here a multiple times and I have tried my best to like it. My expectation is that the facial is cleansing– with extraction. I’m sure there must be certifications that do not allow the staff to do it. Not their fault but wish hey had that option– European facial. The clarisonic brush will do the same at home with the right products. Next hot stone massages do not get rid of aches. I tried their other massages and I’m convinced they are extremely cautious and wary about the possibility of inflicting pain. I also tried the other location it is the same service. So if you are looking for a massage or a facial with lasting results then look for another spa, medical grade spa, dermatologist, massage place … Just go somewhere else.

While the technicians were extremely nice and the service was fairly good, it is by no means worth how much we paid. I got a manicure and pedicure. Manicure was French acrylics with gel. They looked amazing, until I noticed that on three of the nails the acrylic was already showing a massive amount of air bubbles and space between the acrylic and the actual nail (an hour after I got it done!). The pedicure was nice and my nails looked great but the same day I saw chipping! Honestly I could get more for at least half the price at tons of other salons. I would only return if I had a gift certificate but voluntarily would 100% go to another nail salon because it would cost at least half of what I paid and I would get much more.
I have to revise my review, I lowered it to one star because I paid a ton of money for gel acrylics and three of them fell off after 3 days!!! This is outrageous and honestly I should get a refund.

I love this spa! I am a regular customer of this spa for years. Staff is always friendly. Moreover, if you need the best facial always request AZIZA. She is ah-​mazing! Other technicians are ok but when it comes to your face you need an expert and this is Aziza! Now, nails pro is JENNIE. I would not trust my nails to anyone but her. She always does a superb job! Both Aziza and Jennie always go above and beyond to make sure their clients 110% satisfied.

Evangelina listens to your needs and delivers! I have light colored eyebrows and she is a miracle worker at making them look great. Evangelina also gives an excellent facial. Everyone makes you feel at home — what a great neighborhood gem!

I hate not giving my beloved Red Door that I have been going to for over 10 years less than 5 stars, but today I had my first meh experience. First off I go every few months to Wendy to get my hair cut, love her!
Today though I did a half spa day for belated mother’s day present I created myself (massage, facial, mani, pedi, eyebrows) and my experience was both 5 star and 1 star all in the same day (so I took the average for my 3 rating).
I got my massage from Kay and it was the 5 star experience I’m use to for Red Door. She did a great job and I could of stayed there all day.
My facial was pretty good, I came home and noticed she missed a few extractions and I had to do a few more tweezing than I would of liked for the price of my eyebrows… but still pretty solid 4 stars…
Then my day went down hill. I got a mani and pedi from Daniel. He was a little rough in handling arm and seemed really uncomfortable especially with eye contact that made it really weird. I for sure thought he was new. My mom met me for this portion and even though I asked the front to sit us next to each other, I got a mani while she was getting a pedi (not a huuge deal but still it was the reason she came!). So when I was done with my mani, Daniel said there was a back up at the pedi station and I would have to wait. So I moved my drink, but went to talk to my mom while she was getting her pedi… then a seat next to her opened up… I was told it was for someone else… ok not a big deal… I waited another 10 – 15 minutes and then… I got seated next to my mom in the empty spot that was open the whole time!
…then Daniel asked if I wanted to upgrade to the signature pedi like my mom. I had booked the intensive pedi (their most expensive) and he said no I had the warm cream (least expensive. It took me showing him on my phone my itinerary for him to believe me! Worse I think he would of given me the warm cream if I was by myself and my mom wasn’t there!
I happen to mention this to the front desk just because I was a little irked and they responded ohh he must of had a bad day… really? That is your response to someone who spent half a day at your spa? So I was a little disappointed in Daniel and how the front handled it.
I love my Red Door, but I’m buying my next spa gift card to Salamander and making the hike from Falls Church to check it out!

I’ve recently had a microdermabrasion facial by Sahba and now I’m hooked, I left with my skin feeling amazing. Sahba knew what was best for my skin type, and did an amazing job. She always goes above and beyond for her clients and she is what keeps me coming back to Red Door. When it comes to waxing and facials — Sahba is the best there is!

Highly recommend facials with Sessa.
She is so sweet and kind… and professionally, she is the best! I can feel years pealed away every time I go :)

The best massage I’ve ever had! Margarita was awesome! She focused on my «areas of concern» and took care of them! I was so energized afterwards! Never mind the cost because it’s definitely all worth it!

I received some gift cards to red door so I decided to go and pamper myself :) I booked an appt for a 80min deep tissue massage and after the reviews I decided to book with Ben.
I went to check in and after I was escorted to the changing room which was small but had everything that was needed. They had a bunch of lockers for our personal belongings 1 changing room a shower and a restroom along with all toiletries. I helped myself to a plush robe (they were so soft and warm!) and a pair of slippers just regular rubber slippers. After changing I walked myself to the relaxation room where they had coffee tea cucumber water and lemon water to help ourselves to. I choose the cucumber water it was nice a refreshing … While waiting for Ben I filled out an information form which was pretty basic and helped myself to some magazines. Soon after Ben met me and escorted me to the massage room. Nothing spectacular but the bed was nice and warm. The massage itself was wonderful he hit all my knots and really released a lot of tension 80 mins is a long time but man I wish it was longer :(I was sore after but I could really feel that a lot of my tension in my back neck and shoulders was released and his use of pressure was perfect… After the massage I took a shower using all the products they provided the shampoo and conditioner smelled great and wasn’t to strong. They also have a shower spray with eucalyptus that was really nice! I would definitely return although the prices are a bit high I can definitely understand why they do a great job here and the therapists definitely are worth the money!
There were a lot of people waiting for mani/​pedis perhaps I’ll have to try them out for a mani/​pedi next time :)

I have a $ 300 gift certificate for this spa and I have been trying to make an appointment and I can’t get anyone to answer my calls. For the past 20 minutes I have called 5 times without an an answer and yesterday twice without an answer? I’ve checked the number and hours and according to their website, they are open. Would love to use my birthday gift but looks like I may be trying another location. You’d think that as pricey as these places are they would have a receptionist manning the phones and if they didn’t, why wouldn’t they have a voice mail box for customers to leave a message?

I went to Elizabeth Arden for a haircut and pedicure on 3÷5÷16.
Elizabeth Arden is more expensive than what I am use to paying for a haircut. (I am generally more of a «super cuts kinda girl» when it comes to haircuts.) Although, I am not in love with my new haircut; my stylist was very professional. The shampoo treatment which included a scalp massage was really nice. My hair felt a lot healthier when I left. I wouldn’t hesitate coming back for a haircut. I felt the extra cost for the spa like touches with my haircut were worth it.
Elizabeth Arden also justifies a higher price point with special touches like coffee, water and juice available throughout your spa treatment. I never felt ignored.
I’ve been to salons with a lower price point and have come to expect to wait for my appointment (even if I am on time). This is not the case with Elizabeth Arden. I got the impression that they are very respectful of your time.
They also have a nice waiting room for you to use if you’re getting a massage or in my case letting your pedicure dry.
The pedicure was great and the women who worked on my feet gave me a much needed calf massage. I also liked the ambiance of the manicure section in Elizabeth Arden. It was very clean and very comfortable. In contrast to other nail salons, I did not feel like I was sitting in someone else’s lap.
Although I enjoyed my pedicure experience, it would be hard for me to justify the extra cost for it. (It was over $ 50.00 for my pedicure and although nothing was particular wrong with in it would be hard for me to personally justify the cost when I know I can get a very similar experience [minus the comfortable seating area] for almost half the cost.)
In a nutshell, I really enjoyed my experience and wouldn’t hesitate going back but I cannot justify the up charge on all their services.
Tip: The entrance is a little confusing to Elizabeth Arden. You have to take the elevator to the 2^nd floor to get to the spa.

I’ve been to other red door spa locations in the DC area– I love the Willard– and this one did not impress. I had a warm cream pedicure that was anything but warm– the cream was cold, towels cold, room cold. Not entirely relaxing. To make it worse, the location of the nails rooms is adjacent to the hair room, so you get to ‘relax’ while listening to blow dryers. The woman who did mine was pretty rough and finished 15 minutes early… not even close to worth it.
Lady checking me in didn’t let me put my belongings in the spa either, which was annoying. In fact, most things about this place were just the antithesis of lux– very common, if not below par

For my anniversary, my very generous boyfriend got me a $ 200 giftcard to Red Door and I meticulously planned which Red Door salon I would make my appointment at. I decided on this location because of the rave reviews. It is located in a shopping center and its location is somewhat hidden. I had to circle around the buildings for awhile to finally locate the upstairs entrance leading to an elevator. Lovely if they would have mentioned that.
Everyone was friendly enough upon entering; cute hair, cute makeup. They explained the dressing room and locker situation, where the robes & slippers were, and guided me to their relaxation room. I have been to a couple other Red Door salons, both in Richmond, and I have to say, not too impressed with this relaxation room. It was very clinical and void of Zen. Their cucumber and lemon water is inconspicuously located in the hallways, which is hard to see. So you have to get up and leave the room to go get that. And when you initially walk into the relaxation room, you’re greeted with STARK lighting from the 5 open windows and all of the lights on. That’s not relaxing. Further, the entire 20 minutes I spent in there, staff continued to come and go, asking people if they needed anything or just walking back and forth. That doesn’t put me at ease, that makes me anxious and unable to relax. People were in there on their laptops and phones and just generally looking uneasy. I was the only one attempting to relax and rest. Overall, I found the relaxation rooms at other Red Door spas to have a better, more intimate flow to the space as well as more privacy and seclusion.
With that said, I scheduled with Iris for an 80 minute massage and could NOT have been more pleased. She is amazing, her fingers are like steel rods of magic. She uses an interesting combination of traditional Swedish massage combined with many eastern techniques, such as reflexology, reiki and even ends the massage with a face and scalp massage. And wipes the massage oil from her hands before doing so (I think we’ve all had a masseuse who failed to do that)! Unfortunately, that was her last day working there, as she is now opening up her own practice. She did reccommend Brian as the next best therapist in her absence.
A lot of the expense of Red Door are all the extras and amenities; unfortunately, I found this specific spa to not particularly be worth that extra overhead. And because I found my massage guru, it is likely that I will follow Iris to her new location because of the amazing work that she does. If it were not for Iris, I would be giving this review 3 stars simply because I have experienced better. I do believe they have amazing massage therapists who still work here so if you’re willing to shell out the big bucks, go for it.

I had scheduled a signature massage days before I was supposed to have major surgery so I could relax. I showed up for my 1pm appointment at 1240, where I waited until 145 PM for someone to come and tell me that the lady who was supposed to massage me wasn’t there, and they forgot I was waiting. I waited for over an HOUR!!! I’ve never been somewhere so unprofessional, and it’s supposed to be a high end spa??? How do you forget about a paying customer???

Went to this establishement for the first time on 12÷13÷14 and fell absolutely. My mother treated me to a relaxing day at this spa that I will never forget. This was my first time at a spa so I did not know what to expect but everything was on par. I had an amazing facial and an amazing massage. I truly cannot wait to go back.
The only «complaint» I do have is the lack of snack options… how about more of a fruit variety or cheese tray? Other than that I would give it a ¹⁰⁄₁₀.

I don’t go anywhere else for my massages! Rochelle is the absolute best — you can tell she’s been a massage therapist for a long time. Her skills and perfect pressure to your liking is on point! I’ve been to the Reston and Vienna Red Door locations and neither are as well put-​together as the Fairfax. Very clean, never have to wait in line too long to check in/​out, relaxation room most grand. I think they also recently upgraded the relaxation room — there’s a new machine, fresh green apples, and new curtains — always nice to see a ‘face lift’.
I’ve also had Iris and Jenna when Rochelle isn’t available, and both are great massage therapists as well.

I had the very best — and most expensive — brow wax ever today, and it’s all thanks to Sondes at Red Door Spa. Now, I knew walking in that this wouldn’t be your average $ 15 brow wax, and while I did experience a sliiiight sticker shock at the checkout counter, I still believe my experience warrants all five of these here stars.
First off, I didn’t have an appointment, and this is the kind of place where you make an appointment. But, I happened to be in the area and in desperate need of a little brow TLC, and so I figured I’d just walk in and take my chances. They were fantastic and accomodated me right away without a peep about me being a walk-​in.
The space is really beautiful — it smells great, and the waiting room where they bring you is really nice. Lots of comfy couches with pillows, magazines, and, of course, your choice of cucumber or lemon water (or coffee or tea if you’d rather that!)
Sondes whisked me up before I had too much time to enjoy the waiting area, however, and immediately got to work on my brow sitch. She was amazing! She took such meticulous care of my brows, first waxing (they use that special kind of wax that doesn’t require fabric strips, it hardens and then they just peel it straight off — quite painless!), and then carefully plucking and tweezing every single stray morsel of extraneous hair.
My brows have never looked better, and even though, as mentioned, this was not a cheap experience, it was definitely worth it. I look forward to coming back here and spending a lot more of my money pampering myself in the future!

I had to give an updated review — removing a star.
I was concerned that they use Essie nail polish, which isn’t all that great. It only took 3 days for the polish to start chipping :-(

What a sweet gift!
B surprised me awhile back with a gift card to Red Door Spa. It’s located in Fairfax Corner. Parking can be a bit difficult to find depending on the time you come here. There are a lot of other stores and restaurants in the area sharing the same lots.
Upon entering, take the elevator to the 2^nd floor. It’s really nice inside. The lady at the front was friendly. Come a bit earlier than your appointment, so you can enjoy some tea and relax on their comfy couches. Their changing room has everything: robes, towels, toiletries, a shower, lockers, etc. It’s organized and clean inside. I really enjoyed the massage, it was incredibly relaxing. I felt amazing after the appointment: D
Would recommend this spa.

1÷7÷15 my dream team has a new member! Sondes performed a microdermabrasion facial on me for the first time. First off, she has the softest hands and while attending to my skin, she walked me through the process. I loved the steam on my face as well as the extractions. Weird, I know. Once she was done, my face was hydrated, glowing and super soft. I will add her to my frequent appointments.
Next the Spa provided lunch due to a gap in my appointments, so I enjoyed a dish from Ozzies. It was on point as well.
Iris (magic hands and original member of my dream team) got me right together with an 80 minute signature massage. She listens to my aches and pains and gets right to it. My back was a mess and Iris performed new techniques that put me in a deep mode of relaxation which is exactly what I needed. 80 minutes sounds like a long time but it’s really not! LOL. Iris is my only go to person for massages in the DMV! Simply the best. See you next month!
Crystal (top nail tech and original member of my dream team), she’s my regular monthly appointment for mani and pedis! She has me hooked on gel manicures and olive oil pedicures. She is very accommodating and takes great care of her clients. See you next week CC.
