Fairfax Family Dental Care

I finally found Family Dental Care after 10 years of searching for a good dental practice that did not talk you into unnecessary procedures or use overly fancy equipment. They have the nicest hygienists who do a great job keeping my whole family’s teeth in great shape. I’ve recently begun orthodontics as an adult and all my nervousness was eased. Dr. Simanek was very patient with me as I struggled with the decision. He worked with me on a payment plan because my insurance did not cover it.
My children, 6 and 8 also began going to Fairfax Family Dental care a year ago and have said «I love going to the dentist now.» This is because the hygienists know how to focus on what’s important and teaching the kids good dental care and not so much on how to distract the children with movies and quick care.

I am 30 years old and still had my wisdom teeth. One of them started bothering me so bad i couldn’t open to eat anything. Pain was spreading down my neck and up to my ear and temple. I found this dentist after googling «emergency dental care that accepts medicaid.» I called and requested an emergency appointment, telling them i was scared of an infection and that i was 12 weeks pregnant. They had me come in in an hour! They were insistent that i needed an x-​ray, but took every possible precaution, including having me wear THREE lead aprons! After, they informed me that i needed five extractions, four of them wisdom teeth, and one seriously broken molar. They gave me the option to do it right then, or reschedule for later. I decided to go ahead and do it immediately and get it over with. Dr Simanek performed the extractions, he was amazing! I could not have asked for a more gentle, professional dentist. I was anxious and terrified, and probably not the most cooperative patient ever, but he was patient and talked to me the whole time reassuringly.
I will continue to see him at this practice for any dental procedures, from root-​canals, to cleanings! So happy I found a great dentist out of this emergency situation!

I have lived in the area 8 years and my only regret is that I just found this place in February. My old dentist said I had 8 cavities but when I went here they said I have zero. Its not about the money so much as the customer service. Tanja did my cleaning today and it was by far the best cleaning I have ever had. I will certainly refer this to my friends. Too bad I am moving :(

Just a bit of what happened to me. I made my regular appointment. The night before my son got sick really bad fever, the next day (day of the appointment) I called to try and reschedule … We are a military family so I’m here alone, no family and my husband was not here. I had no one to watch my son and I needed to take him to see the doc. When I called the office the lady says, sure I can reschedule you but we still have to charge you a fee for calling the same day it’s $ 100.00. I tried to explain it was an emergency and my son was sick, unexpected, I didn’t plan for this to happen, she said it was policy that they still had to charge the fee, even after I said I could get a doctors note. So in my opinion, I think this place stinks. Because life happens, and urgencies, unexpected life things happen, like sick kids. So what happened. I took my sick Motrin/​Tylenol up’ child with me to a tooth cleaning. And I will NEVER be back here or recommend this place. EVER

I wish I could give this place no stars. I had the worst dental experience ever here. My wisdom tooth decided to make an appearance and then proceed to get infected. I woke at two in the morning not being able to move my jaw, and the whole right side of my face was throbbing in pain. I searched emergency dentists, and found this place. They provided an emergency number and I called. The only nice thing about this place is that someone actually answered at two in the morning. They told me to come in at 7:30 in the morning. I got there and waited a bit, no big deal, until they brought me back. The dental assistant took some pictures of my mouth with a nice digital camera. Positioning my mouth in all these crazy ways with this contraption. They kept barking at me to bite down, when I told them many times I could not close my mouth all the way. Then they took a panoramic x ray. Then, the Dr came in. He looked in my mouth and a second later he said, «The tooth needs to come out, it will be around $ 400 dollars.» I told him that I had started a new job and that my insurance took a month to start. But I asked if he could bill me or wait till my insurance kicked in to then submit it. He refused and said he would not do anything unless I paid in full up front. However I looked at their website and found it said «FLEXIBLE PAYMENT PLANS» and «FINANCING»
I told him I don’t have that money and he said «Sorry» rudely, and walked out.
These people do not care about people’s teeth AT ALL. They let me walk out with a swollen INFECTED mouth, and didn’t even care. They did NOTHING AT ALL to try and even help me or work with me. I admit I left there crying, and still in agonizing pain. I later found a dentist who was MORE THAN WILLING to help me and provided me with an option to hold me over and kill the infection until I was able to get the tooth taken out, and they gave me NO hassle at all. They cared that my mouth was healthy. I may just be one person but when you treat people like this, they do not come back.
Please, if you have a problem do not go here. They do not care about your health or your teeth. Trust me.

This is the 4^th review I have posted for this dentist and for someone reason Unilocal IS DELETING MY REVIEWS. I have no agenda other then informing the community of my wonderful experience with this practice.
My daughter had her two front permanent teeth broken during an after school activity and we were unable to get an appointment at our regular dentist.
We were able to get an appointment in 10 minutes with. Dr. Kirksey. Dr. Kirksey and his staff are fantastic. My daughter had to have 2 route canals and temporary teeth done, the process took 5 hours but Dr. Kirksey and his staff were professional from beginning to end. Dr. Kirksey was wonderful and caring with my daughter during the entire process and my daughter’s temporary caps looked almost as perfect as her original teeth. I highly recommend this dentist, he made this traumatic event for all of us bearable. Thank you Dr. Kirksey. and your staff for a job well done with our daughter, we will be back, hopefully under preventative circumstances next time.
