Interstate Irrigation

When a service person is sent out to check out a problem and a part is needed, they will never follow up. I had to have them out four times. There has got to be a better business model… it can’t be cheap for the owner???

One of the two worst companies we’ve ever made the mistake of using. We regret the day we let Interstate put in our irrigation system. For two years, we’ve has nothing but problems. The system is only two years old. When you call because your system is not working, they don’t even have available slots for more than a week. You take the slot, 10 days away, water your dying lawn & landscaping daily and then wait. Our tech was due between 8 – 12. We confirmed via call and email, ahead of time. No show and no call or email. What is the point of a $ 6,000 irrigation system that breaks several times each summer. Today is the hottest day of the year and I got the privilege of missing work and spending 40 minutes spraying my yard with a hose because of the no show. Our system is 2 years old and it was very pricey. For that kind of money, we expect a functioning system, competent staff and reliable communication. The worst. Beware.

Their hours are not so flexible. They’re only available during my work hours. You have to be off from work to accommodate them so I look elsewhere to save my vacation time and I could find other irrigation contractors willing to accommodate me. One time I hired them to do work and when they came they did the fall shut down service which was not what I want them to do! Their workers were mostly hispanic, and it appears that hispanic are dominating the blue collar contracting work. You’re going to have to learn spanish to communicate with them to avoid misunderstanding.

Interstate did a trenchless sewer replacement for me in October. I’d have reviewed them sooner, but life gets in the way. First, if your home is older and you’re fond of the trees in your yard, trenchless sewer replacement is for you. The workmen dig a hole to expose the sewer connection at your house and another to expose the connection at the street. Then they bust out your old sewer line and replace it with a sturdy PVC pipe, all in one piece so there are no joints to break or leak. They pull it through the hole left by your old sewer line and your yard and trees survive.
Interstate sent a representative to my home promptly and he was very professional. The workmen showed up the next day, got their work done by that evening, and filled in the trench, restored the minor landscaping and seeded in the lawn they disrupted by their digging after the work passed inspection the next day. So far, five stars. When they went up on my roof, they disturbed the eaves trough, which they could have repaired by simply driving 3 nails back into place, but since they said the eaves trough was «old» and declined to do this and I got to fix it myself, subtract one star. Also, I believe one of the workmen loosened the packing nut on my outside faucet to make it leak and then tried to get me to hire him to fix it the next day. Fixed it myself. Delete a second star. However, after they finished putting in the sewer line, and it was late, and the workmen were tired, I tested the sewer line and found that it was blocked. The men worked at unblocking it until it worked perfectly. They might have waited until the next day, but they fixed it so I could shower that night. Restore one star. Four stars for Interstate Irrigation & Lighting. Could have been 3 stars, but with a little extra care, it would have been 5.
