Wow, I remember buying sandals at payless for super cheap, like $ 10-$ 15 bucks. Now they’re’ $ 19-$ 39. With those prices just go to DSW… which just so happens to be next door, actually! You can get better deals at DSW on the main floor, and even better finds on the reduced rack. I would rather pay $ 40 -$ 50 for leather, than $ 34.99 for man made upper, aka plastic!

This location is great! It’s in Fair Lakes near a ton of other shops and right down from DSW, so if you can’t find what you need here, you can go down a few shops to DSW. The workers here are always nice and usually inventory here is good. I will say that the prices have seemed to really increase here. I saw shoes that cost $ 60-$ 70 which seems pretty expensive for Payless.

What can I say, really? It’s your standard Payless shoe store… It’s bigger than the Fair Oaks Mall store, so there are more options in comparison. There are usually at least a couple of pairs of each shoe on top of the shelves in case there is something wrong with the ones left open to try on. I’ve always been successful finding at least one pair of shoes here that I like. And who can beat their BOGO deals? Buy one pair, get the second one 50% off. Always suckers me into buying another pair. To note, this store is kept clean and orderly. Employees are also helpful. When I was clearly searching around for a particular pair of shoes my mother liked, the employee shelving new shoes stopped what she was doing to assist me. She took the initiative and was successful in finding what I was looking for… when it was right in front of my face(and I still couldn’t see it! haha). She had a good sense of humor about it. She also helped to check us out when we were finished shopping.

Talk about smart store placement! Payless is nestled right next to the much larger shoe behemoth DSW in Fair Lakes — and gets plenty of traffic for those who don’t find what they like in DSW. I have always loved Airwalk shoes, but hadn’t seen or had a pair for years. But they have them at Payless!(Subsequent research told me why — Airwalk is owned by the same parent company as Payless) I snagged a comfortable and delightfully tacky-looking pair of Airwalk slip-ons for $ 20. My wife rolled her eyes when I bought them — which is exactly the response I was looking for. But in all seriousness, I have a bit of a short, wide foot — and Airwalks have always fit me the best. The overall selection and service here was fine, so I’ll be back for more.(Airwalks that is)

Payless is well known for its cute shoes at affordable prices, and I’ve been going there since I was a wee child bouncing back and forth between my divorced parents. Besides shoes, they have jewelry and some hair accessories, as well as purses I believe. Its all relatively cute, tween-y stuff you’d expect to see at Claire’s. I would say this review is for 3.5 stars because I was a little disappointed with the selection. Each size gets about half of an aisle on one side, and if you’re looking for a particular style of shoe(forever in flats!), you don’t really have many options. Add to that I’m not a big fan of oversized bows and I then had about 3 pairs to choose from. They make up for the lack of selection with the price, right? That’s sometimes true and sometimes not. I did get a cute pair of velvety brown flats for $ 8, but the comfortable black ones I got for work were $ 27! That doesn’t seem like a real great deal to me but I needed them because I’m on my feet all day now and I am in a cycle of perpetual dresses(sneakers will not do). This place is A-OK, hence the rating. The cashier was also very nice, reminding me several times that if I needed help, just ask. She told me when I was checking out that she actually lives in Maryland and sometimes drives an hour and half home! That is rough. Get this girl to a more convenient store Payless!
