Ponce de Leon is a 30+ baseball league with divisions in Northern Virginia and Maryland. It’s probably the best league to get back into baseball without a whole lot of time commitment. There are three seasons: Spring, Summer and Fall, each lasting about 10 weeks each. Games are played once a week, usually on Sunday. This is a good and bad thing. WIthout any practices or really even any team workouts, it makes playing in the league much easier on the schedule. However, it also ensures that playing performance will suffer. For me personally, I’m playing well below my potential because I just don’t get the opportunity to practice and get my skills back. But the mood of the league is recreational, so if you are looking for stiff competition, look to another league. The rules are modified a bit to allow everyone to hit and to even the competition. Generally everyone has a good time and doesn’t get too worked up over a win or a loss — though everyone is definitely trying to win. League organization can suffer a bit now and then, with schedules coming out late or other communication issues. But, I understand it’s a part-time thing for the league organizers and they generally do a good job. Would definitely recommend Ponce if you’re looking to get back into playing baseball, but only have a couple hours per week to do it.
