It’s not the best deal, if you are comparing just price. That said. If you need information and expertise about the choosing which bike best fits your riding style and budget, they know their stuff. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. After visiting Spokes we went to a few other bike shops and compared the products and staff. We went back to Spokes and purchased a Trek FX series 7.2 for our daughter. Excellent staff. They adjusted the seat and handle bars to the correct position. One of the staff even came outside to help load the bike into my SUV. You get great service!

I’m definitely coming back! Very polite staff, clean place, and stellar customer service. Didn’t catch the name of the gent that helped me (gauges and sleeve) but thank you again for adjusting my seat height for me!!!

I walked in needing a new tube. Sam got the tube for me and gave me a little of advice about finding what caused the leak in the old tube so that it didn’t happen to the new tube. I really appreciated him taking the time to do that.

Very disappointed! Bought the wrong type of bike (comfort instead of mountain) since after exploring the trails close to my house saw the bike was not holding up too well. Went to exchange (mind you not even return the bike) as part of their 14 days return guarantee and since they thought it would be tough for them to sell the bike again due to being 2014 model they said they would charge me half the price of the bike to take it back. It took them 4 days to get back to me to tell me this. Also when I went in to pick up the bike did not even tune it as they said over the phone earlier in the day they would and had to wait more for them to do the tuneup in front of me. Just speaks to poor customer service overall. I paid for two trek bikes and this is the service I receive. The manager never really tried to help with the situation. There are a lot of nice bike shops in the area.

I first utilized Spokes in the spring of 2014 to have my 2005 Specialized tuned up. They did a good job! I unfortunately left it outside most of winter & it got a bit out of whack, rusty & filthy. This winter when I brought it in I asked if the tune up would be worth it or if I should invest in another bike. I was relieved that the repair guy guided me to the less expensive option of tuning it up. I also needed new grips because they were really old. He helped me pick out great grips, quoted the tune up and I asked him to clean it up and adjust the front tire release– all for only $ 67. I was happy with the tune up & the grips. The front tire release is the same or worse & they returned it just as dirty as when I brought it in :-(

My wife and I were very happy with the service and products (bikes and accessories) that we purchased from Spokes Etc last May (and additional items and services we’ve purchased since then). By chance, I noticed a mistake they’d made on my original bill, and I brought this to their attention. Joe, the Manager, immediately agreed and took full responsibility for the mistake, and went to great lengths to make it right. In fact, I could not be more pleased with the result. Almost any shop will leave you feeling that you’d had a great experience when everything goes right, but it’s when something goes wrong that you really learn about the quality of the company and its people. I’m pleased to report that Spokes rose to the occasion very admirably when called upon to do so, and am glad to give them my highest recommendation.

just got my TREK serviced there. I went there based on positive Unilocal reviews and was not disappointed. A technician named Dre waited on me. He really knew his stuff. Did a qwik check and found that after 5 years of neglect my bike was still in good shape. Filled my tires and charged me zero for his inspection. Based on this and a need for increased safety I bought front & rear headlights while I was there. I will be a repeat customer.

Very happy with my experience. Despite it being Sunday afternoon’ i got almost immediate help fro Ryan and Warren. I didn’t have technical questions, but they both helped me get what appears to be an optimal fit on my Trek verve bike. The store has a good selection of all the Trek variants (at least hybrids i was interested in). They even let me negotiate the price, which got me a free helmet (more or less).

You know there’s something special about a bike shop when you live in Arlington but wanted to take the ride to Fairfax to visit Spokes. Let me say that this visit was worth it as I left with an awesome bike and an awesome experience from everyone working at the store. Looking forward to future visits to ensure I’m up to date with tune ups and bike accessories. Highly recommended and extremely knowledgeable staff.

On Fri when I went in to test & look at a bike a 2^nd time, Chris was excellent & very knowledgeable. The bike frame I needed wasn’t at that store the Sat before, so he transferred it there for me to come back & try. He takes his time to help you & make sure you get what you need. He also let me test ride this bike, to ensure it would work, since it was a different frame size than the bike I tried on Sat.
All staff are very nice & helpful.
The Sat before when I went for the 1^st time, Carl was also helpful & let me test ride a bike in the rain & helped me narrow down the frame size of the bike that would work best for my height.

Bike selection and the technicians are why I go here. I just had an issue with a bike I didn’t purchase here and they fixed it lickity split and didn’t even charge me. Only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is their accessory selection isn’t as good as other competitors in the area.

Got my bike back in ONE day after drop off for a very reasonably priced tune up.
When I picked it up the technician took the time to tweak a few things for me, and demonstrated how to easily disengage my front brake. Things that would have taken me forever to do he quickly and easily took care of
Love the automatic opener someone at the front door engages as you approach with hands full of bike!

Visit them a few times for test rides, their customer service was good. If I end up buying a bike from them, i’ll update my rating.

I am definitely a fan of Spokes Etc. When shopping for a mountain bike for my wife, we kept hearing about great bike shops all over, but nobody had a great store selection. How do you expect me to pay almost $ 1k for a bike and not give me options to touch and ride? The folks at Spokes in Vienna and Fairfax were great to talk with — no pressure, and they were awesome at answering all of our novice questions. I really like how they let you try out their bikes first before making a decision and they really showed me what you get for the money.
I like the customer service they offered, including the bike clinics you can attend and get 10% off on accessories during the clinic. I would definitely recommend Spokes to everyone. My only reluctance to give them 5 stars is due to the price monopoly out there from companies like Specialized. Specialized evidently forbids internet pricing, so you are basically at the mercy of paying MSRP on the bike unless you have an inside connection at a dealer who will discount off of MSRP.
In fairness to Spokes, they did help me out a «little» when I purchased two MTB bikes from them. You could argue that the selection and service they give you is worth the money.

I recently took my bike in to have a flat tire repaired. Service was excellent (near the end of the day, nonetheless). The service associate promptly took my bike said he could have it fixed in 20 minutes.
The shop is very clean and comfortable with leather seating and a tv to keep you comfortable while you wait.
Prices seem fairly reasonable but I don’t have much to compare against.

Spokes Etc. is one of the most welcoming, customer oriented bike shops I’ve ever had the pleasure to have frequented. I have twice had tune ups done on my hybrid here. The work was always completed ahead of schedule, and the bike always runs smoothly after their master mechanics have repaired all the damage I’ve wrought. I’ve noticed anytime I’ve ever approached the door with a bike an employee comes out to hold the door open for me. Classy.
My most recent positive experience with the shop occurred Monday when my daughter and I decided to see if they could make some adjustments to a bike she was rapidly outgrowing. Though the repair crew were working on another bike, one of them stopped what he was doing immediately to readjust the handlebar positioning, and to properly fit the bike to her size. He did note she probably needed a bigger bike, but not once did he or any other employee try to push us towards shopping for new wheels. This is especially appreciated, as when sales people try to convince you to buy something for a six year old girl, when said girl is present, it can make for an unpleasant situation. After about 5 or 10 minutes, the bike was all ready to go. I pulled out my wallet to pay whatever the service fee was, and the employee refused payment, saying he was glad to help us out! I almost feel obliged now to buy her next bike from this shop to reward their kindness.
The shop has a large inventory of Specialized and Trek cycles, along with jerseys, helmets, and the other acoutrements for a great ride. The only drawback to this Spokes is its location. At the intersection of routes 29, 50, and 236 in Fairfax City, you would be hard pressed to find a less bike friendly spot for a bike shop. I would be terrified to ride through this area unless I was on a sidewalk.

I would like to commend the bike technicians at Spokes Etc for really pulling through for me with a bike build. I had cracked the frame on a carbon fiber Ellsworth bike back in March (originally purchased directly through Ellsworth). Spokes was kind enough to supply me with a box to ship the frame back to Ellsworth. It took three long months dealing with Ellsworth due to production issues of the frame that I wanted. Ellsworth finally convinced me to upgrade (for free) to a different frame. I finally received my replacement frame on Tuesday. I immediately brought in the Ellsworth Evolve warranty replacement frame (along with all of my original components) Tuesday evening. The guys at Spokes Etc turned it around for me by Thursday evening. They did a super job on the build and I could not be happier with their service.
I’ve also purchased a Specialized bike from them back in December for my daughter for Christmas and their sales staff is equally as great as their technical staff.

Spent an entire Saturday two weeks ago going to 5 different stores looking for a mountain bike to purchase. Spokes was my first stop, and after shopping their competition, I returned and bought the bike from them. John and Chris were great — very helpful and knowledgable. Never once tried to over-​sell me like other stores did. I’ve been back a few times since for accessories — they are always very helpful and courteous. Will be a customer of theirs for a long time to come!

TO THE MANAGER /​OWNER: Fire the employee and complete idiot named KENNY if you care about your store’s customer service reputation.
If you’re looking to buy shoes from this store, don’t speak to the moron named KENNY. I asked him if they had shoes that weren’t for clipless pedals (shoes that dont have hard and slippery soles with the screws on the bottom). He said, «you mean tennis shoes?» in a sarcastic tone, implying that I should just wear tennis shoes if that’s what I’m looking to buy. I said, «no — like the 5 10 mountain bike shoes…» He replies with «we don’t carry those or anything like it.» WRONG. I guess he just preferred to flirt with the female employee next to him rather than help a customer.
And I say WRONG because an extremely nice gentlemen named JIM helped me find the exact shoes I described and was looking for. JIM is the only reason I am not giving this store a 1 star review.

There’s a new bike shop in town.
If you are Trek shopping this is the store for you.
They have a full line of Trek’s as well as Specialized and some other brands as well.
The down turn in the economy has hit the bike shops especially hard.
It’s a discretionary purchase and a narrow demographic so it’s been sad to see so many smaller shops close their doors.
Jim & Bob opened these NoVa regional shops to provide a bike shop experience with a local flavor. They support local bike rides and charities.
That’s what I call giving back to the community!
