The Back Dorr is an extension of The Front Porch in Falls Church. These two shops are the work of Dave and Joni Foerter, the owners and operators. They have a great eye for finding solid wood furniture with great bones and a wonderful design. Stop by both the locations and enjoy the treasure hunt

Business Owner

I’m Joni, owner and painter, and I can’t wait for you to get a glimpse into my ordered chaos. I am first a wife and Mom. My family is the center of the vortex that is constantly spinning. We are fortunate enough to live, work, go to school, play and pray — all in a little corner of Northern Virginia. I’ve been in Falls Church since the ‘70s.

My background — back in the old days — is environmental modelling. It’s a combination of environmental science with computer science, back when they each barely existed. Thank goodness I don’t have to hold my own in that field today…

I started painting furniture several years ago for fun which grew into a hobby which grew into a home business which grew into The Front Porch. Do what you love and love what you do — totally works for me. I am thrilled to bits to be in a brick and mortar shop where I get to paint and visit with folk, all day every day. And, I get to spend lots of time with my vortex.
