Tint FX

So I decided to get my car tinted on short notice. Called the shop and spoke with Emily. Very knowledgeable and she put me on for an appointment that day. And this was yesterday, Friday. I got there late, still was taken in, showed me a few cars with tint and decided on 35% all around. It looks dope on my white car. I’m pleased with the work, professionalism and for Eric to chat with with I waited. Did I mention it was on only 45 minutes?! Omg! Great company.

Had a great experience getting my vehicle tinted. From the email correspondence to the in-​person interactions everything was top notch. They explained all the types of tints they offer and had had a good demo of the different shades. I am very satisfied with the tints and the service — certainly will be coming back when I get another vehicle

TintFX did a wonderful job on my Mercedes c300. I asked for VA legal and it looks great. Very seamless, in fact it looks like it came this way from the factory. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for quality tinting at a reasonable price.

Took my new car here after setting up an appointment. I was in and out in about 40 minutes. So far everything looks good. Good thing they put a sticker over the window buttons reminding me/​not letting me roll them up or down for a few days. I got to work and immediately wanted to roll my window down to enter the garage. I may take the wife’s car here if we decide to tint the front windows.

I brought my car to be tinted at FX Tint. It has been a year and my car still looks awesome! Also, the best value I could find in DC area. A++++!

Awesome job! Car came out perfect, I had an issue with a door panel and they took care of it no problem. I had my wheels plasti dipped, I was skeptical because if it’s not done correctly then it looks horrible, it’s an unforgiving product. I can say that they did above and beyond a professional job on my wheels, they look better then factory. They guarantee their work and have addressed all my concerns about having work done to the car. I’m sure if the wheels need to be touched up it won’t be a problem. They take a lot of pride in their work and it shows.
The dude that does the rear window is a tint surgeon, watching him work was like magic.
I love the way my car looks, and I get compliments daily.

I would not recommend Tint FX. I went to Tint FX to get my old tint removed and get a new tint below Maryland’s legal limit (35%). I specifically told the technician that «I need something lighter than 35% to pass the inspection.» He told me he knows exactly what to get and told me not to worry. He did it for $ 65.
Today I got reinspected and failed the inspection again because of the windows I got retinted from Tint FX are 1% higher than the legal limit (34%). I am furious that I wasted my money for nothing and I naively trusted the technician at Tint FX who told me he knows exactly what I need.
Tint FX failed to deliver the promise they made for me and wasted my precious money and time. I would never return to this shop ever again.
*The shop quickly reached out to me, apologized and offered full refund. But it’s been over a week and I still haven’t got any refund back yet. Last time I called the shop, they said «I’m sure it’s on the way.»
*It’s been three weeks. Refund never arrived.

Tint FX is the best window tinting service in the DC area. The staff is extremely friendly and very knowledgeable about their products and can recommend the right one for you if needed. I showed up about 30 prior to my scheduled appointment time. They immediately took my car back and I was in and out in 45 minutes. Would recommend to anyone looking for great tint work.
Side note: The business is located directly behind the Ted Britt Smart Wheels building so you don’t miss it.

This is like heaven for my car! Well check this place out!!! I would say this is the best best best place to customize ur car in va only if ur in love with ur car lol. Well i already started recommending this place cause first of all very reasonable price they do not force or bullshit you to spend more even they will suggest u better what u should do to ur car, secondly they works very fast so u dont hv to wait for days. And last but not the least when u leave the place you do not feel like ‘shit i waste a lot of money’ but ‘holy shit every penny worth, im coming back’

My wife mentioned to me that she wanted to get the windows tinted on her car, so I started looking up local business reviews in the area. I then started asking various social media outlets, Twitter, Reddit, Facebook and checked review sites like Unilocal.
In an overwhelming response, the top answer was to come to TINT FX. So I sent them a message through their website and I received a response within the hour for pricing. Their next open spot on a Saturday was three weeks out. I was sort of shocked but then again this place received such great reviews I can understand how they would have a waiting list.
They open at 10am, and I always try to get to a scheduled appointment early, so I followed WAZE to the area but I didn’t see the business, so I checked their website at a red light and saw that they were behind another business named «Smartwheels» so that made sense. I slowed down on the road as I came across the turn into the parking lot and pulled in and saw it behind the dealership. And I was sort of thrown off.
It’s a garage. I don’t know what I was expecting but it wasn’t this. It looks like a detached BIG garage with on bay door and a door off to the side with a padlock. I was a little unsure but I thought since they got such great reviews and I was already there I may as well give it a shot. I got there at 9:40am. They opened right at 10am, and before I walked up another customer walked up asking a man (I found out later to be the owner, Eric) about prices and scheduling. Eric spoke with me immediately, asked me what I wanted, we joked about wives and street legality and police, and he walked me through the tinting process and shades of tint and different brands. I picked one he said «okay, you can wait in here».
He pointed to a door. Again. I didn’t know what I was expecting, maybe something like the waiting room of Pep Boys where the chairs are uncomfortable and a TV set at an odd angle on the wall. But I walked in and it was a little office area with a couch, five or six chairs, a desk and a small TV with a DVD player. It was hot and humid outside and inside this office it was nice and cool. I’d say about 70 degrees. It was a nice waiting area and the couch was comfortable, and I found out they have free WiFi to connect to while I wait.
About five minutes in Eric came in and sat behind the desk, put on «In Too Deep» and we talked about life, kids, dunkin’ donuts, and work. I met his girlfriend (I believe) and co-​owner Emily and Before I knew it, my car was done a quick hour later (it’s a smallish sedan), and he was going over the lifetime warranty and the avoid-​using-​ammonia cleaner.
Overall. Great experience. I’ll definitely be returning for my SUV. Great people, and great work. I’ll try to remember to update in six months on the quality if I remember.

I can’t say enough good things about the guys over at TintFX. From the time I spoke with Eric on the phone until I was driving away with a beautiful tint, these guys were awesome!
Called them earlier this week to see about an appointment, they offered an appointment during the day but I wouldn’t have been able to make it down there from Herndon and back in an hour. So they got me in tonight at 6.
I showed up a little early for my appointment and met with Eric who talked me though the different films and options I could do. I chose to just have my front windows tinted to match the factory tint not he rear windows. They used a light meter and matched it perfectly!
They are done in under 15 minutes and they look amazing!!!
After Eric went over the details of not using my windows for a few days and some tips on what to clean them with I walked out to me Jeep, I was in love all over again. They really do look like they came that was from the factory. There was even a little reminder sticker over the window controls telling you not to use them for 3 – 5 days.

Eric’s crew did a great job on my baby. Only thing, the brake light was cut out instead of pushing the tint down in front of it. I now know to ask what their technique is before having my next vehicle tinted. Down south where I’m from its customary to not cut out brake light because it provides a sleeker look. Overall I highly recommend and will go back for next lease. Thanks guys!

DON“T BELIEVE THE HYPE!
This review will probably get buried in the filter but I feel I’ve got to say this. I called Tint FX today, 6÷25÷2015 to ask one simple question about the VA laws on the darkness of tint and how visible light transmission (VLT) is measured. I don’t know the name of the person that picked up the phone but he was definitely having a bad day. As I was reading information posted on Tint FX’s website to the gentleman on the phone, out of nowhere, he says to me, «I don’t know where you are getting your information from.» before I could even finish my question, I said I’m reading this right off of your website. The below is what I was reading to him, off of their own website —
VIRGINIA?
Darkness of tint is measured by Visible Light Transmission percentage (VLT%). In Virginia, this percentage refers to percentage of visible light allowed in through the combination of film and the window.
Windshield Non-​reflective tint is allowed along the top of the windshield above the manufacturer’s AS-​1 line.
* Front Side Windows Must allow more than 50% of light in
* Back Side Windows Must allow more than 35% of light in
* Rear Window Must allow more than 35% of light in
The guy on the phone kept asking me, «where are you getting this information?» in a very rude and unprofessional manner. Finally, I think he realized how unprofessional he was being and began to finally answer my question but then just went back into another rant as to why I was being so rude to him! I was NOT rude to him, at all. I just kept reiterating to him the fact that the information I gave him was from Tint FX’s own website. I could tell he realized how unprofessional he was coming off towards the end of our conversation as I hung up the phone on him.
I just had a simple question and I was literally bullied over the phone by this guy.
After the phone call, I came here to Unilocal and saw all of the wonderful reviews about this place. I started to worry because I really want to take my car to the best place and I thought to myself, «Damn, where are you gonna go now?» This appeared to be the best place. I was gonna bite the bullet and call back and pretend the conversation I had with the previous person never transpired and make an appointment. But I decided to read EVERY REVIEW FIRST. If you read the reviews carefully, particularly about the quality of their work, it boils down to just «AVERAGE». I read one reviewer that stated his tint was finished in forty-​nine minutes! How much attention to detail can be paid in that amount of time? Maybe that is what people want? Speed over quality? Not me!

This is a tough one as the owners and staff are very friendly, and they work quickly. Overall my experience at Tint FX has been very positive. An example of this is when I had some soap residue between my third brake light and the rear window, and had two members of the staff working their butts off trying to get rid of it. The brake light is almost flush with the window, so they were only partially successful, but I don’t blame them as I watched them really give it their best.
Probably the most important factor in getting a tint job is the tint installation itself. I highly value service and value too, but in a business like this where they basically aren’t getting repeat business from you until you have another car to tint, installation itself is the most highly weighted factor in my opinion. In this category I have to rate them average.
Most of the car came out well, but a couple of months later I’m looking at multiple windows with small bubbles, and one small spot that looks like it has creases in the tint that can be seen from the exterior. This is not my first tint job, so I have what I believe to be a reasonable baseline expectation for what human hands are capable of. In this case I would say it’s an average job. I brought them a clean 1 week old car and they gave me back a good tint job with more imperfections than I expected based on previous experience.

I needed to get my windows tinted and, of course, I checked on Unilocal to see where I should go. I called to make an appointment and was able to get one on a Saturday about 2 weeks out. If you are able to go during the week, you will probably get an appointment much faster.
When I drove over, I had a little difficulty finding the place. It is located behind a small car dealership and you can’t easily see it from the road, especially if you are driving east on 50. There’s also not really a sign at the entrance of the driveway indicating that it’s back there.
The guys are very friendly and knowledgeable. They also have a variety of options for you to choose from with different price points. And they’re fast! They can get the work done in about an hour, if you have an appointment. And I definitely recommend that you have one or at least call ahead.
Overall, they did a great job. I really love how they put a sticker across the window buttons to prevent you from rolling down your window. What a brilliant idea!

So, I’ve been dealing with the same tint guy for over a decade. But he unfortunately moved his place of business to Sterling. So I found this place and saw all the great Unilocal reviews. Called on the 17^th and left a message. 5 minutes later, Emily returned my call. She’s a pleasure to speak with and is very knowledgeable about their product line. She suggested Suntek CXP for my dad’s new Mazda 5 and said to come in the next day at noon. I called the next day and spoke to Erik. I had to cancel because the dealership couldn’t deliver the car that day as promised. He said «No problem at all.»
Car was delivered on ¹²⁄₁₉. I called and spoke with Erik and he said to come at 10:00am the next morning. Perfect! I got there on time and the guys immediately checked me in. I decided on 20 in the back and 35 in the front. I’m used to waiting around for a few hours while stuff like this gets done, so I started shooting the sh*t with Erik. He’s a really personable guy. We both grew up in NoVa and we’re about the same age. Then, just like that… after only 49 minutes, he said «All right, you’re all set!».
I said «Are you f’ing kidding me?». The Mazda 5 has 11 windows. But he had 3 guys working on it all at once, so they were able to knock it out in under an hour on a busy Saturday morning. I actually ended up leaving 30 minutes after they had finished, because we were talking so much about the auto industry (the green phase of the 90’s, and the gold phase of the early 2000’s). But I digress. Great customer service + great product + lifetime warranty = A new repeat customer!

I’ve never had my car tinted before so going into the process of finding a good tint shop was a little challenging. There are MANY crazy and questionable groupon deals for as low as $ 50 but once I saw the reviews for TINT FX I was SOLD!
I was really lucky when I went in for my appointment because it took less than 30 MINUTES!!! CRAZY RIGHT??? I had 4 master tint-​ers working on my Honda Civic Sedan. Normally I read that it takes around an hour to complete the process.
Emily was extremely HELPFUL and and knew exactly what she was talking about. She reccomended what I should get as if it was her car! I felt taken care of and would not hesitate to reccomend this tint shop to anyone looking for an amazing quality job!
