The Pointe

Moved out last month after several years here. Never expected to be at the Pointe for so long but eventually our situation pointed us to a house in Sacramento vs moving closer to the Bay. Apartments are spacious (²⁄₂) with two walk-​in closets plus 2 other closets. Loved having the washer and dryer in the apartment. We had upgraded floors installed during our stay and they were very nice. I understand that kitchen appliances and cabinets, bath cabinets, etc., will be upgraded for the next tenant. The location is excellent and we already miss the hills and the quiet (we were facing the big hill and were shielded from I-​80 road noise). The rents reflect the fact that the market is way up lately, but then you’re 20 minutes from the Vallejo ferry and could live here and work in San Francisco. Plus, there are 3 pools (1 indoor) and a nice exercise room. Donna, Imelda and Erin (and the others before them), were always very friendly and helpful. Ben and the other maintenance staff were unfailingly responsive to any request. Don’t understand the bug reviews posted – never had any long term problems. Yes, I would definitely recommend the Pointe.

Overall, apartments have a very cheap feel; cheapest appliances on the market, very dated faux wood cabinets in kitchen and bath, plainest white laminate countertops available, and cheap flooring throughout. Parking for guests is extremely limited and the specs for residents are very tight. There are, tick-​infested wild turkeys running all over the property. If you choose to live here, plan on losing your security deposit, because management will find every reason possible to charge cleaning or repairing fees. Overall: this was the worst apartment living experience I have ever experienced.

We moved out of the Pointe apartments this week after a little over one year of living here. Throughout that year we have never had a problem with the staff or our living situation. Every member of the management and maintenance was always helpful and friendly if we had any questions. I would absolutely recommend this living experience for another — a beautiful complex surrounded by hills, lots of amenities including three pools and a sauna, and an overall safe feeling.

I have only been living here at the Pointe since June, 2014. I am blessed to be living here. I feel that the staff is exceptional, from the office management, to the guys taking care of the grounds. Everyone here is very friendly, professional, and accommodating. The entire apartment complex is very well cared for and maintained. It feels very nice living here. I feel very safe here as well. I know that no place is perfect, or invulnerable, but the Pointe is definitely tops in my book. If you know of anyone looking for a place to live, come on down, and check it out for yourself. Plus, there’s ample parking always, and if you know what I’m talking about, you can appreciate that a lot.

I liked the location of the apartment, pool and sauna. However, Someone had access to the mailbox once and stole my mail causing a huge hassle due to identity theft and fraud. Did the managers do anything? I don’t know. They didn’t seem too concerned when I asked if it was reported. They eventually locked the mail room. My biggest issue is I feel like they try to rip you off. When I moved in, I vacuumed the carpets and had a vacuum full of dirt! They said that it was cleaned by professionals before moving in so I had to pay $ 90+ when I moved out. They cannot show a proof of receipt! Cleaning fee is $ 155… Meaning there should be no streak of anything inside the oven according to the manager. That seems very impossible especially when the oven is probably 10 years old!!! She kept saying to not even bother cleaning it coz they’re very strict??? Now I want to visit the new tenants and check whether they actually cleaned it they way they described it! I must say I got lucky to be out of the lease a little bit earlier but instead of prorating me on the day they wanted the keys back, they charged me for 6 more days! According to the manager, I had two choices. first is to stay until my real lease ends and pay more, or they need the key ASAP and pay less (but not prorated to the day they wanted the key back!) because suddenly there was one free apartment aside from mine. I think that is just so wrong! Make sure #1 ask them a proof of receipt for carpet cleaning before moving in… Or clean the carpets and show it to them if it’s got a lot of dirt! #2 take pictures of the apartment including the ovens, counter tops etc and maybe give them a copy of it. Make sure they document them well. Good luck!

We lived at The Pointe for about a year and a half and really enjoyed our time here. As with any apartment complex, location within the complex and neighbors make or break the experience… We were fortunate to have an upstairs, end unit (extra windows!) facing Hilborn Rd, and had quiet neighbors.
The floor plan was spacious (2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms) and we really enjoyed the fireplace. The balcony was great too, although it could get pretty loud since it faced the main road. We used the gym and jacuzzi frequently, and they were always clean and quiet. The only issue we has was with the indoor pool. It was cold, the same temp as the outdoor pool year round, and whenever we complained about it we were told it was a «maintenice issue» and it was «being worked on.» In the year and a half we lived here the pool was only warm enough to swim in a handful of times. We chose this complex over another primarily for the indoor pool, so having it not work was a major disappointment.
Overall, we had a good experience here and would definitely recommend it. Hopefully they’ve fixed the pool issue by now!
PS — we LOVED the wild turkeys that wandered down the hill every morning. Hilarious.

This is a super late review since we moved out at the end of March 2014 but I wanted to write something because I noticed there are so many not very good reviews on here and I seriously don’t know why. First of all, I grew up in Fairfield and this complex is in a super safe area. I’m not sure what that person saying they heard gun shots is talking about but when I read that I laughed. I always felt very safe here.
They also have 3 pools and washer and dryers in the unit and are pet friendly which is amazing. We lived towards the back, but it was always so quiet that I would honestly forget we even lived in an apartment. I also rarely heard our neighbors so I think the walls are pretty thick. Another great thing about this place is how big our 1 bedroom was. I live somewhere else now that is nowhere near as spacious.
I also never experienced any bugs (and we lived on the first floor) and I always felt the maintenance people were very friendly and the complex was kept up well.
The only reason I would give it 4 stars instead of 5 is that the kitchen and bathrooms are a little outdated for the amount they charge now. And my only suggestion is they turn the tennis court that barely anyone uses ad turn it into a mini dog park. I think that would really make the complex feel more like a community because it would be a great place to meet other people and it would actually put the space to use!
I also want to thank Donna in the office for her great customer service. We had an unusual issue with the plumbing in the bath tub before I moved out and although it was an inconvenience, Donna really listened to me even when I wasn’t the sweetest about it, and she actually cared. They ended up really taking care of us and I really appreciate it. Thanks Donna!

I have lived in numerous apartment complexes in different cities, but nothing comes close to my experience with The Pointe.
We were drawn in by the pretty pictures, and when we shopped around the area it seemed like a decent price with great amenities. No one warned us about the BUGS.
We tried to situate our bug issue with the office over and over again, but they told US we were crazy. SPIDERS, KNATS, CRAWLY BUGS… everywhere. Each time they «sprayed,» we would find dead bugs fall out of no where for weeks.
There is a long list of issues we had, but we had enough and took it to them to move out of our lease early. The only reason they agreed was because someone was interested in a 2B/​2B so we had ONE WEEK to evacuate. I was just happy to be out of there and appreciated the arrangement, but then…
3 months later, I received a phone call from a DEBT COLLECTOR to pay the rest of our cleaning bill. I’m just wondering why didn’t they call us themselves. So our deposit wasn’t enough for ridiculously overpriced carpet cleaning and painting? When I moved in, it didn’t feel like they cleaned the carpet at all… there were bugs on it. We stayed there not even for 5 months, and the entire time we were hardly home so it’s difficult to believe «cleaning» was over $ 600. I made sure to clean up before leaving, and definitely less than $ 600 worth left. So they sent us to a debt collector without any bill or notice for 200 bucks… seriously?
It leaves such a bad taste in my mouth. I would not recommend this place to anyone looking around in Vacaville.

I would NOT recommend anyone to live at The Pointe. It is OVERPRICED for what I had to deal with. It may look great on the outside and the staff may look nice, but they are less than accomodating. They showed me a beautiful model, and when I first moved in, all I saw were bugs. There were bugs EVERYWHERE. They were able to get into the apartment because the windows weren’t fully closed, had little gaps in the windows. There are even bugs coming out of the vents. Maintenance never came the day that I need it, sometimes it will take them 2 days to come in! The place was run-​down, I must have called the office to fix things almost every week.
They also have speckled carpet… probably to cover up the bugs! This is by far the worst apartment I’ve ever lived at. When I complained about all of this, they just acted like it’s not a big deal. Also, parking is a NIGHTMARE. It’s a huge complex, so there have been times where I had to park on the other side of the complex.

After a year at The Pointe, I am moving on, but I wanted to write this review. The price for a two bedroom for the area was alittle high but worth it. I was lucky having very quiet neighbors and the apartment was well laid out and I have no complaints other than some people thinking the jacuzzi was a kiddie’s pool. I always found the staff exceedingly helpful and accomodating and they deserve a raise!

I lived in several apartments while attending school so I know the basic routine. This place may look nice on the outside and the staff may appear friendly, but it’s a different story once you sign the lease.
My wife and I moved in for 4 months while we were looking for a house to purchase. The location is nice and is close to the freeway. The apartment is nice, but everything is old. The cabinets are water damaged and falling apart, sink has rust stains and looks disgusting, shower and sinks would back up every week and not drain, and to top it off, you can hear EVERYTHING the upstairs neighbor does… and I mean EVERYTHING.
Alas my wife and I found a house and it was time to move. Being a renter in the past, I know the routine on cleaning the place up and making sure it’s in the same condition as when first leased.
Everything was removed, windows, walls, kitchen, oven, bathroom, fridge, EVERYTHING was cleaned. The carpets were replaced prior to us moving in and were in the same condition when we left, no pets or heavy furniture. There were a few spots on the wall that I filled in (hung a couple family pictures) and just needed to be touched up. I went into the office every day for a week prior to us vacating, asking for some touch up paint (small foam up size) or even a paint code so I could go to the local hardware store and purchase it myself. Every day the office said someone would be by to drop it of, no one ever came.
Once vacating we dropped of our keys, and gate remote and told Imelda that everything was clean and the walls needed to be touched up in a couple spots but I had no paint. She assured me it wouldn’t be a problem.
3 weeks later, a check the mail. I was charged $ 165 for carpet cleaning and $ 54.02 for paint. There were literally 4 pinholes that needed to be touched up that I had already filled back in…
Upon calling and asking about the carpet cleaning I was advised that it was standard procedure for them to call an outside company to come in and «sanitize» the carpet and that it didn’t matter if I lived there for 4 months or 4 years, they would still call someone in to clean it, no matter how clean it already was.
This is bad business, these people will take advantage of you and try to do anything they can to keep your security deposit. This is by far my worst rental experience. Stay away!

I have lived at The Point Apartments for several years. While it is in need of updating in the kitchen and bathroom areas I have really enjoyed my time here. I like my neighbors. I feel safe here. The office staff has always been friendly and responsive to my requests and my needs. Since I am retired I spend a good deal of time walking the complex with my dog. I don’t see crime at the complex that others have eluded to. While their have been incidents I don’t think it is unusual for a complex this size. I would definitely recommend The Pointe Apartments to others.

The pointe has decent apartments compared to the others we looked at in Fairfield. They do need to be updated with better quality appliances and fixtures.
What I am really unhappy about is the maintenance. It is hard to get them to come to your apt. When they do come, they never really fix anything the first time. My ac broke down during a heat wave. They came to «fix» it. They replaced the thermostat, but did nothing to the actual ac.
The same thing happened when our dish washer and garbage disposal broke.

I lived at the Pointe for a little over a year and I really enjoyed it.
It has quite a few positives…
— The property is very pretty
— The management is extremely nice.
— Any maintenance issues were handled quickly and efficiently.
— Size of the apartment was great and who doesn’t want indoor laundry!
— The gym, while small, is nice, clean and a nice plus.
— Oh, and they allow pets!
There are a couple of negatives. This is why it did not get five stars from me…
— The cabinets throughout are very old and could use updating for the price you pay for the apartments.
— I love, love, love all the trees but keep Windex in your car. The sap is a pain in the a – .
— I feel like the apartments are a bit pricey. I also feel like prices in Fairfield are higher then what they should be.
All of that being said, I would definitely rent here again. I did read a previous comment about the deposit. Here is the low down on getting all of your deposit money back. If you don’t want them to clean the carpets for the next tenant, then don’t walk on them. If you don’t want them to paint the walls for the next tenant, don’t touch them. If you don’t want them to have to clean the place when you leave, then clean it like a pro. The cleaning part is a tricky one. We live in California where expectations from the government are high. If you do not leave the apartment clean enough for California’s standards, any complex manager is obligated to have it professionally cleaned. Do yourself a favor, opt for the move out clean through the management office and save yourself the time and trouble of cleaning it yourself. I know that cleaning is the last thing I want to do when I’ve been packing and loading a truck. Don’t make the mistake of leaving it filthy though, that might cost you.

I lived at the Pointe for a year. For the rent you pay for this place you are better off renting a house! You pay as much for a house anyways. The only thing that brought me to this place is the location and the size of the units inside. It was close to work and my parents. The staff is attentive but do play dumb. There was a crime in the complex at the times I lived there and police cars driving in almost everyday. The apartment complex surely needs to be updated. The Kitchen & bathroom is horrible almost like trapped in the 80’s. I had bad mice problems, spiders and other creepy crawlers in my apartment. I ended up paying more than needed. So just yesterday I received a bill stating I owed a difference. The Pointe staff not once called me to verify my address and I moved out almost 3 months ago, but they sure called me for other things that I didn’t need to know or just random. I remember giving them in person my new mailing address and of course the address was incorrect so it put me to collections. How does that happen when I was not informed or aware. Thinking that this whole time I was done with that place. Come to find I owed more. I say this, if you are charging people way to much for rent at least update the apartment complex and hire people who know what they are doing.

Just as we walked into the lease office to talk to someone about prices and availability, the only staff, who was talking to another couple, looked at us and said, «Hi, yah, I really gotta take a lunch right now, actually it’s way past the time, and ya I really have to go, come back later around like 5.» We said, «We have another appointment at that time…» so he replied, «Ya, I really have to take a lunch.»
It was getting close to 3:00pm, and how about a hello?
Talk about rude staff. Grab a snickers. We didn’t bother to come back. Yikes.

I will be nice and fair about the pointe, at first glimpse it looks beautiful however that’s not the case. Old bathrooms and if you look closely not at the model but your apartment you’ll see how things are reused to the point where it should have been trashed. Rude office staff and simply they lie or play dumb extremely well. A lot of crime, police was at the complex seemed like once a month and not for a good reason. They scam military and simply over priced for what you get. Houses with more, where cheaper to rent than the almost 1500 a month they charged. Horrible place stay away, trust me save yourself the headache.

I have been at the Pointe for a little more than a year now, and my experience has been interesting to say the least. The office staff, and maintenance crew have been nice and pretty attentive. The neighbors are the worse I have ever experienced in any complex I’ve lived in.
The positive attributes of the complex is definitely the size of the units — very spacious living quarters and nice floor plan designs. I also like the location — tucked away on the side of the hill in a residential neighborhood gives it a more «home like» appeal.
The negative aspects — the walls are paper thin!!! Which leads me back to the neighbors! There is absolutely NO privacy in these apartments. I can hear my neighbors coughing, talking, and every other type of «noise» you can imagine!
If you decide to move into this complex, choose your unit wisely! I think the upper level section of the complex is a much better location than the lower… That’s my 2 cents!
