The best Restaurant in Monroe County ! Lasagna, Chicken Parm and Chicken French no other Restaurant can beat them for taste. Alot of these Reviews have to do with«Wait time». Well… You have to wait because the Food is so damn good. Also… It’s important to distinguish the Reviews in the Basement location to the Reviews with the Expansion Upstairs as any issues with Congestion or noise may now be rectified. To me the number one thing I look for is TASTE not if I had to wait or the bartender ignored me etc. And i’m happy to announce my friends… they’re going to «Run the Table» and blow every other Restaurant«out of the water». My taste buds told me this, not my Cerebral hemisphere. Note: Both Restaurants(Lake Ave also) the food is identical.

Superb meal on Valentine’s Day. It was very busy but our server Lauren was efficient and enjoyable. We each had a new and different special, all of which were excellent.

The tiny and cramped bar in the basement is gone(just for private parties now). They’ve created a new space upstairs in the old catering area that is a cozy and inviting bar with a very nice look — natural stone and wood. The food continues to be excellent(peppers for appetizers, chicken parm). The food is as good as Charlotte, the bartenders know how to mix a drink, and now the atmosphere is so much improved. I see some recent reviews that are not based upon food nor service and others that are based upon catering. Too bad, these reviewers are missing the boat and they’re unfairly rating aspects that are not germaine to the normal dining experience. This is a nice casual place that has recently taken an upturn in atmosphere. I originally rated them a 3 when they opened. They definitely are as good as Fairport gets right now which is why they deserve 5 stars.

My parents mentioned this as a restaurant they’d like to try out in passing, and I remembered that for Christmas time. My girlfriend and I decided to get them a gift card to the Fairport location for a nice dinner for the two of them. The reviews looked good so we figured we’d go for it. First, we attempted to email them asking about giftcards and how to purchase one(my girlfriend and I live in Pittsburgh, wanted to have it mailed to us if possible). No response. We then tried calling, except it played a message to call back during business hours and wouldn’t let you leave a message. Problem was, it already was their business hours. We attempted to call THREE more times on different days and all during the time they were open. Never got a response. We called another restaurant to give our business. I can’t comment on the food or the atmosphere or anything in that regard because they never responded to us trying to give them business. They lost $ 100 in business because of this. Not the biggest check in the world, but it was pretty disappointing to not get any help at all.

The new dining room is so beautiful it makes the dining experience very relaxing. The upstairs bar is so uniquely designed that gives a very welcoming atmosphere. The lunch menu offers a variety of dishes at reasonable prices. I split the eggplant parm and it was still a sizable portion. It was the best eggplant parm I have ever had. That being said, I eat a lot of eggplant parm. The waitstaff was incredibly nice and patient, I had my three year old with me and they were very accommodating to him. I highly recommend eating here. This new room is going to be a huge hit in Fairport.

The new owners are giving the Green Lantern Inn, a beautiful historic Fairport landmark, a facelift, adding a new bar, fireplace, etc. We were a party of 7 and everyone enjoyed their dinner. I had the Veal Joseph, veal in a Dijon mustard wine sauce, and it was excellent. Our waitress was sweet and knowledgeable about the extensive menu. Overall a fun evening and I will definitely be back. PS to add to the outing, I suggest grabbing a beer at the fun next door Fairport Brewhouse beforehand.

I was very impressed with the staff and the food for my fiancés 30th birthday party. Eveyone was so helpful in getting everything planned and the food was fantastic as always. The night couldnt have gone better. The renovations look great as well.

My wife and I dined at Mr D’s Fairport location with family on a Tuesday night. There was 8 of us in total. We were seated on the main floor towards the front of the building(Main). What a beautiful building. I ordered a appetizer special which was Anaheim Peppers halved lengthwise, filled with ricotta and broiled. It was very good with a nice sweetness to the ricotta and the hot kick of the pepper. For my entrée I ordered a special which was pounded chicken breast sautéed and served atop rigatoni bathed in vodka sauce, with sliced cherry peppers and mozzarella broiled over the top. This dish had some serious potential but it was unbelievably salty. I’m not one to be overly sensitive to salt but this was over the top. My wife had the veal saltimbocca and it too was overly salty. This particular veal dish is by nature a salty dish so they probably didn’t need to add any. They also went a little crazy with the black olives on this one. I’m not big into reviewing service but I’ll do it here because it was excellent. I don’t recall the waitresses name but she was fantastic. I hope that Mr Dominic’s reads this review. If it wasn’t for the saltiness, the meal would have been a perfect Rochester Italian American meal. I’m going to give them three strikes so I’ll be back. I’m totally on the fence with the star rating and since there was only really one issue with my meal, I’m rounding up.

I was excited when Mr. Dominics moved into the Green Lantern space. I had always heard such good things about their food. Boy was I disappointed. My husband is Italian and grew up eating home cooked meals from his grandmother who taught him to make«gravy» & «macroni». The food was just ok. And like someone else said, to walk through the unfinished banquet area to get to the bathroom was silly, especially when a private party is going on. I won’t be going back to a place that overcharges for ok food I can cook better at home.

After More Than 1 Year, Dominics is Still Not Ready for Prime Time We decided to try this place despite the mixed reviews over the past year. We went on a Friday at 5pm, when they start serving to avoid the seating delays. We parked in the lot and approached the main entrance when an employee told us to enter by walk around the building and go in the basement where the bar and hostess is located. We entered a cramped bar and asked the older hostess for a table for two. She asked for our reservation and I said we didn’t have one. She acted irritated and grumpy and told us to follow her up two flights of stairs. There was no one in the restaurant that we could see. She didn’t ask us where we would like to seat or give us any choices. Instead, she put us in the corner of a small, dark, empty windowless room off the kitchen. As other unrelated people arrived, they were all seated in the next room that was much bigger with lights and windows and away from the constant personal chatter of the wait staff going in and out of the kitchen. The waiter Michael was pleasant but continued to up-sale us with appetizers, drinks, bottles of wine and dessert. The main dishes were good and moderately priced. The salad, as others have mentioned, was very basic, iceberg lettuce with a plastic cup of dressing. Water was served without ice in a small 8oz., well-used, plastic glass. Coffee was served in an off-white, cheap mug with a spoon in it– just like they do at neighborhood diners. To use the restroom, you need to go through the old banquet room that is cluttered with building materials, chairs, old tables, supplies, insulation scattered on the floor. The bathrooms are small for the size of the facility and have not been upgraded in years. In summary, save your money and skip Dominics, you will be better treated at many other customer-oriented restaurants that consistently have better food, prices and service. After more than one year, Dominics is still not ready for prime time.

WOAH… totally shocked by this place. I’ve been to their Charlotte location and enjoyed the food and service. When I got a wedding invite I was curious to see if they could pull off preparing their tasty food in bulk. I cannot tell you how awful it was. I feel like they hired a terrible caterer to cook the buffet food. Canned potatoes? The ziti was blah. Their chicken french was too thick, dry and overly sweet. The sausage was dry and black on the outside. The peppers were mushy and way too overcooked. The bar was a hot mess. Besides not having enough glassware the bartenders ran out of ginger ale and started to «make their own» using sprite and coke. EW. Also, the bartenders could hardly move behind the bar because they had boxes and boxes of beer on the floor, AND they were serving it like that ALLNIGHT. Not sure why they did not use the mini fridges or have coolers etc. I was seriously shocked by this. If your paying good money for open bar, why are guest being served luke-warm beers and how are you running out of soda before dinner is even being served? We left hungry and disappointed. I ended up whipping up some food for 5 people at 12:30am when we got home. Oh, I forgot to mention we were in the basement of this place. I’m not entirely sure if this is normal, but it is in serious need of a renovation.

I had not heard great things about this place when they first opened. But, I do have to say my experience was great. A frequent customer of the one on Lake Ave, a small group of 6 of us decided spur of the moment to come here and did not have a reservation. We sat at the cute bar down in the basement and had a drink or two and waited. They were quick to accommodate us and our server, Mike, was the best. On top of his game! Food was outstanding and they had a nice wine selection. I think it’s safe to say that when people tell you they don’t like a new place, wait it out a few months and then go and see for yourself. I really enjoyed my time here and will be coming back.

I do love that they took over the Green Lantern. The place is huge. We sat up in the banquet area, as we had a large party of 7 for my mom’s birthday. They do have a dining room downstairs but much smaller and louder it seemed. Bread was passed around the table with butter packets when asked for drink orders. I started with the appetizer on special for the day — Arancinis. One with beef and one with spinach. They were not good… very bland, not much flavor and barely any cheese or sauce. I then got their chicken special with was delicious. It was chicken topped with feta cheese, red peppers, artichokes and pine nuts in a white wine garlic sauce with rigatonis on the side. I loved it — very similar to my favorite dish at Carpani’s I always rave about. Just a bit too salty though, but not too much to complain. The meal came with a house side salad that was good as well. Mostly everyone else seemed to enjoy their meal, except for the lasagna. The two people who had it were not very happy with it. They mentioned it was very bland. It looked good though… There is plenty of parking and lots of room inside. So if you didn’t care for the limitations on Lake Ave, come to Fairport. They brought the chef over from Lake Ave, so the food is no different from what it was.

The food and service was excellent. We both had veal dishes. I had the veal Dominic and my wife had the veal Theresa. We both enjoyed our dishes which were accompanied with a side salad and a pasta dish. We chose a marinara sauce, which was a bit spicy more like a Fra Diavalo. Fornutally I enjoy spicy sauces, but was not expecting that. Everything else was very well prepared. We will be back soon

A reservation is worthless at this restaurant. Our group of 4 walked in on time. None the less we still had to wait another 40 minutes. I grew up working in the business, there is rarely a need to wait more then 20 minutes. Most likely they just over fill the place similar to what airlines do. They just want to receive more money and they believe you won’t leave once you get there. I believe in Cowboy logic, fool me once shame on them, fool me twice shame on me. None the less I am still willing to give them one more chance. I will write much more when I give Mr Dominic’s another chance, but I agree to another Unilocal review I read. There are so many other places that are so much better. At least that is my first feeling. I will try next on a Monday night, then give a final review. SECONDCHANCE: 04/21/2015 We came back on a Tuesday at an 6:00, no wait. Not a major surprise Tuesday is one of the slowest days of the week for a restaurant. Do you like Salmon? I love salmon(ordered first time here), if you do, do NOT buy it here, it was so dry it reminded me of dry tuna. We ordered Hot Antipasto, nothing bad, nothing special. Well let me incorrect, it came with french artichoke, that was less then ok. My wife and I both ordered Hot Shrimp Fra Diavolo with linguini which came with a salad. I also ordered as an extra a Meatball, I always like to compare Meatballs from different italian restaurants. I will not say anything bad about this meal. In fact the price was slightly less then other restaurants in this area. The problem is although it is not bad, it is also not great. It is just ok, PERIOD. If you want to go to a restaurant on a Thursday-Saturday and wait 40 minutes even though you had a reservation, then go. Enjoy your PLASTIC water cup, your PLASTIC throw away salad dressing cup and enjoy your fine mediocre meal. My time is worth more then the couple of dollars I saved by coming here and waiting(40 minutes) even though I made a reservation.

Very late to review… went for lunch on my birthday, 9÷5÷14, which was in the first couple of weeks they opened. Delicious! Beautiful home, prime location, enough room to be comfortable to move around and not seated too close together. Like when you go for a massage with an LMT who just graduated & they’re figuring out how to move from one area to the next in a smooth transition, the service is going through the same transition. I’m sure they’ll pull thru and be as great as the original Mr. Dominic’s in no time! I could see the downstairs getting stuffy, and smelly because of the close proximity, so I’m not sure I’d want to hang at the bar down there, but I’d like to go back for dinner soon!

I was so hesitant to come here based on the reviews. I went on a weekday night around six thirty which was a very quiet night. At first I walked into the downstairs area and found it to be very crowded. Thankfully we were seated upstairs. Our waitress was very good and no complaints there. The food was good authentic Italian food and huge portions. I wouldn’t go there on the weekends just because it doesn’t feel like it would have good service then. Everyone at the table were highly satisfied with their food.

Our friends had already made the reservation for this place when I decided to read the reviews and oh boy I was ready for some bad service… perhaps my expectations were low but our service was pretty darn good. And our server was friendly(perhaps they fired the surly waitress mentioned by others). It was packed on a Tuesday night during the holidays so I was surprised that we only had a moderate wait for the entrees. The salads came out promptly so no issue there. The refills on water could have been better but now I am nit-picking. The Veal Parm, Veal Saltimbocca, and Chicken French were all very good and decent sized portions that came with your choice of a pasta side and a veggie or salad for a reasonable price. The dining room in the house is very nice(it did not appear that anyone was eating in the room off the bar in the basement) though it did get a bit loud. We had a 6pm reservation and were immediately seated so we avoided some issues others had regarding having to wait for a table despite having a reservation. Overall we had a good experience…

We went there for lunch today. We were promptly seated. We asked for the wine list and after it was received was probably 5 – 10 minutes before our waitress came back to take our drink orders. A slight annoyance but we were ok with it. I had ziti with a giant meatball. I’ve heard good things about their red sauce so was very excited to try it and it did not disappoint. Per our waitress the meatballs are a 3 meat blend. I could have just had a plate of meatballs and sauce. Hubby had veal parm. The cutlet was beautifully crispy even though it had a moderate amount of sauce on it. The prices are insane — ziti was only $ 8 and the veal $ 10. Definitely get a table upstairs. The house the restaurant is in was built in the 1870s and is beautiful inside. Our waitress was very knowledgable and other than the hiccup when we first arrived the service was great.
