I live in the neighborhood, and if we wanted it to be a place we stopped in for cheap drinks in a divey type atmosphere it’d probably be perfect. Thing is — the food is only«ok» and their selection of spirits is so so. It is very clearly the local«hot spot» for the 40+ set. I suspect that everyone that frequents this Restaurant does so because they have always done so. Prices are really reasonable(drinks were cheap) and the bartenders and staff seem really sweet and friendly. The food just isn’t that great, and my guess it was once upon a time.

Food was OK. Service was extremely slow. Our waiter was so polite and friendly. We started off with chorizo as an app. Then ordered surf& turf entrees. Our meals took FOREVER to come out, and when they did they were not a sirloin steak. It was extremely fatty and thin. Not lean like a sirloin should be. Our server was very apologetic that our food took forever and gave us deserts on the house. The chocolate mouse was good. However, I simply wouldn’t go back because the food was just alright and there’s a ton of better Portuguese restaurants in Fall River.

I hear a lot that they’re not really the best Portuguese food and that’s probably true, but I have been coming here since I was a kid and still drive 45 minutes to them for dinner a few times a month so I would say they’re pretty good. I’ve been all over and this place is still a favorite. My Dad and brother used to get the shrimp mozambique and little necks every single week.

Edible Portuguese food at a decent price. The foods a little bland and the staff could be a little friendlier and punctual but you get what you pay for.

Love this place, has great Portuguese food and specials(octopus, goat, etc.) the Carne Alantajana is fantastic and of course a huge portion. The best dish at this restaurant is easily the Fried Calamari, it’s in a house sauce which is just absolutely delicious. Give this place a try.

This restaurant is a staple to the area! On the afternoon I was there, the staff seemed a little distracted! there was a lot of noise, music and laughter coming from the kitchen(BOH). I wouldn’t mind that so much, if I had someone come out quickly to take a drink order or to offer Portuguese bread. I’ve been here before for supper and the service was much better! Maybe I caught them on a bad afternoon!

Good portuguese spot in Fall River. 3 stars because parking sucks and my steak was very dry. Sandwiches are large and prices are affordable. Very basic seating inside and small. Fries with steak sauce were good and rice is yummy too. Every now and then i crave portuguese, so i travel from Taunton to O’gils and overall it fulfills the need. However, im sure there are better places around.

I took my family for a day trip to Fall River and picked O’Gill based on reviews from Trip Advisor. I was not disappointed. From house wine, kale soup, cod cakes, to the combo dishes(steak, eggs, rice, shrimp, fries), plus portuguese cod. Brought up fond memories of my trips to Lisboa and Sao Paulo. Unpretentious soul food, with reasonable price, and friendly, honest service. Too bad Fall River is more than an hour away from home. I look forward to another day trip in the future to have more of these gem of Portuguese/Acorean cuisine.

As stated in another review the takeout system is terrible. Parking is terrible and you must wait in the dining room for your takeout, your literally hovering over people that are dining in. Takeout system needs to be revamped! Now to the food, we ordered the Ogil’s house sirloin portuguese steak and a chourico sandwich for takeout. Steak was cooked properly(medium rare). Sadly, there was a hair in the steak. I obviously threw the dish away and contacted the owner the next day. I spoke with him the following day and he agreed to give me a replacement steak dinner. I decided to go and pickup the replacement steak dinner for lunch this afternoon. Steak was decent flavor but not cooked properly. Was cooked to medium well and not the medium rare that I had ordered. At least it did not include a hair. It appears that there is clearly a lack of consistency and carelessness in the kitchen. With so many choices here in the city, I will not return here again.

I used to live in Fall River and I ate there regularly. I absolutely love this place its a quaint wonderful little place, yes it’s in a neighborhood area but you can eat at the bar or you can use the family style restaurant. It’ may not be fancy, but the food is absolutely amazing. They have great parking next door to the restaurant and you will never be disappointed with any of the dishes they serve. Portuguese steak, fresh breads, shrimp Mozambique, clam boils. Chourico & chips, the hits keep coming. Don’t listen to anyone else, go try it for yourself and you’ll give this place a five star no doubts.

Great local spot, weirdly in the middle of a residential neighborhood. We always eat on the pub side. For apps the little necks & shrimp Mozambique are always winners. Then, we always order the O’ Gil’s steak … Portuguese steak @ it’s finest. Relaxed atmosphere, jeans and t-shirt kind of place.

Take Out: PARKINGWASHORRENDOUS; I WOULDHAVELEFTIFORDERWASNOTALREADYCALLEDIN –weird set up to pick up takeout. I felt awful for the people I had to hover over as I waited for my order –Chirico Sandwiches was our order. Size was surprising but didn’t make up for the quality. Over cooked Chirico and soggy fries. There are other Portuguese style restaurants in the city I will go to first before returning(with acceptable parking)

Dollar for Dollar, really good Portuguese food. House specialty is the House Steak. The 180 ounce pitchers for $ 23 aren’t too bad either. It’s not fancy, really a low key spot where two people can have a good dinner with a couple beers for under $ 30.
