Cal Customs is a very unique little gun shop. For the size of the store they have an amazing selection, not only in new firearms but they are one of the few places that consistently carry surplus firearms. Great for the budget minded or college bound. Dave is a bit rough around the edges but I think that’s to be expected from a man of his age and profession. I’ve been in there a few times and the only time he actually talked to me was when I was serious about buying a rifle. Even when I bought some ammo once he didn’t talk to me at all through the whole transaction. While the girls are a lot more«customer friendly» Dave knows his stuff. My only complaint is the price on ammo. But it is understandable when you figure in what a little Shop they are and can’t afford to sell as cheap as Walmart or Turners. Overall worth a stop, as it has a great selection and you’ll be helping out the little guy which to me is worth way more than the price tag on their products.

My PCP(Pre– Charged Pneumatic) air rifle was shooting off and needed service, Looking for a licensed repair place within less than a 100 miles was Cals. Cals is unique in it’s European underground style and nonchalant store front. Service was friendly and I like how everyone keeps it real discussing guns and or airguns. Prices for the guns seemed reasonable and there are even a few airguns and some Cold War ammo and pellets there. I’ll be back.

Lived in Fallbrook from 1987 – 2006, go back 2 – 3 times a year and stop in every time. Dave’s selection rivals those big discount outdoor places, and he almost always has stuff you just can’t find anywhere else when it comes to older handguns and rifles. As for service, Dave and his wife are getting older, he is still very knowledgeable, but his eye sight is getting a bit bad and his hands are getting shaky. He can be a little cranky, but understand he has to deal with a lot of younger riffraff coming in all the time. Over all he is one of the best gun shops in the state, and I’ve been in a lot.

awesome little shop!!! I went in looking for powder I’ve been waiting for for almost 18 months and they had it!!! Kristy or Christy was super helpful and even took my contact info as I had a special request. Very helpful. While I only went in to look for reloading components and didn’t have much time to browse, all the racks were filled with long guns and the cases were all filled with handguns. Great place to say the least

I find it very hard to believe the good reviews this location is getting. Not only were they very rude but were completely unable to repair my AMT Rifle. I left it there for almost a month only to get it back, not working, filthy dirty, lost the removeable stock, lost the original clip. I had to search the store myself to finally find the stock on the top of a shelf. I never did get the clip back. All this and I had to pay $ 60 for the experience. I would not trust this place with a water pistol!

I have heard so many good things about this store, and being a Fallbrook local, I love to support local businesses. However, I have dealt with this company twice, and both times I felt mistreated. The first time around, I brought a gun in for repair. I told him what was wrong with it and without a word, he took it into the back room and returned to hand me a ticket. Without once looking up to make eye contact, he simply said, «We’ll call you». After a few months, I got no call. I called them and he got grumpy on the phone, «There’s still 80 guns ahead of yours. I’ll call YOU when it’s ready». OK, I thought this must be a high demand service and I’d just have to wait. Finally, after almost a year, I walked into the shop to ask if I could just have my gun back. By then, I had misplaced my ticket. Boy, did he give me hell for not having the ticket. I was about to walk out and tell him to keep the gun when he finally decided to go back and look for it. It only took him 30 seconds to find it, so why did he spend 5 minutes giving me hell for no ticket? The gun was done, but they had never called me. On the ticket was a hand written note, «Called June 22». That was the date that I called them. He told me that they tried calling me to tell me that it was ready and I never called back. That was over half a year ago. Were they really only going to make one attempt to call me? On top of that, when I dropped off the gun, I had asked him to gun, I had asked him to call me with an estimate BEFORE the work was done. OK, I got my gun after more than a year in the shop. The price was fair enough, so I paid up. While I was there, I found a used rifle I really liked. I told the lady I was interested and I’d like to know more about the gun. She turned around(without responding to me) and a couple minutes later, placed a purchase contract on the counter. I told her I didn’t know much about guns and I wanted to know more about it before I could make a decision. She told me they were a gunsmith shop, not a gun school. OK. For some reason, I told her I wanted to buy the gun anyway. When I came back to pick it up, the same lady provided more poor customer service. I handed her my ticket, she went back and got the gun and laid it on the counter. I handed her a check. She walked away without saying a word. I thought there must be some other business remaining since she never even said«Thank you» or «Have a nice day» or anything else to let me know business was concluded. After about 10 minutes, she came back and asked, «Do you need something?» Well, I got one gun fixed, and bought a gun. I’m happy with both of the guns. The customer service was just horrible.

I remember going in here in high school to «Browse» the only gun shop in town. The place had been there for a long time at hat point. I decided I wanted a new Ruger 10⁄22 and called around to find the model I wanted. When she told me they had one and what the price was($ 20 less than on the Ruger website) I told her to set it aside and I’m on my way. Living where i do it’s not far but it’s not close either especially when you factor in Friday afternoon traffic and the stupid Hwy 76. I arrive a while later and she retrieves the gun from the back room and it’s exactly what i was looking for. SOLD! We do the required paperwork and it goes into«Gun Jail» for 10 days till I can come pick it up. Two weeks later I’m the proud owner of a beautiful stainless Ruger 10⁄22!!! Sadly 3 weeks later I have not run one round through it for two reasons: 1.) Stupid president has the country in a panic and I have a better chance of winning the Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes than finding 22 shells. 2.) I have been too damn busy! Hopefully that will change this weekend! Go see Dave and the crew at Cal– Customs! for a while way back then.

One the most knowledgeable sources you’ll find anywhere. Cal knows his firearms and accessories. Prices are fair, selection is very good, service is hit or miss.

Nice Gun Shop. Family owned and operated. Well stocked but when they need to order something in for you, they do. Quickly. Used gun section is fun to peruse. Nice reloading supply selection as well. Go there.
