Love the senior menu. Prime rib the best Sundays are not too busy for a leisurely lunch. Great fettuccine Alfredo with chicken nice and creamy with plenty of Parmesan cheese

I want to like this place. I have heard many good things about the owners and I appreciate what they do for the community but the food was below expectation. My boyfriend’s steak was acceptable, but his sides were not. Potato swimming in butter, salad drenched in store bought dressing, dried out veggies, heat lamp warmed potato skins that were made hours before. My salad was also drenched so much you couldn’t taste the decent looking greens it smothered. The prime rib dip sandwich was on good bread, but it was slippery from fat from the greasy meat. The stained flooring downgraded the look from a themed steakhouse to a roadside grease grill. New floors and an emphasis on freshly prepared food will go a long way, but I won’t be back until I hear they’ve improved.

They have a great Monday night football happy hour menu. Few good TVs and the prime rib is a very generous portion.

The family and I have been here several times and I must say the food and service is excellent! I love the consistency of the great food each time we’ve been here. Dinner is great and you MUST order the deep fried avocado! Steaks cooked to perfection and I was surprised how perfect the veggies were cooked as well! Came for Sunday Champagne Brunch. Eggs Benedict is awesome and hubby had country fried steak and is delicious. Hats off to the bartender as well for making the best Bloody Mary we’ve had in a long time! Ambiance is country themed and welcoming. We will definitely will definitely be back.

We had such a lovely evening! My rib eye was the perfect medium rare and Dave’s new York was, according to him, mouth watering. We retired to the bar and I must say, we had the best time out we’ve had in months! The ladies tending bar, Harriett and Lori, we’re charming. They were engaging, but not intruding and we’re so witty! We had planned to attend a movie, but found ourselves enjoying the playful banter and wonderful service, far too much. We have definitely found a new, energy filled environment for date nights!

Good food. Love the live music and happy hours! It has a nice atmosphere. But, the main reason we go is to see the Bartender/server Lori. Lori brings so much character to the place. She makes great suggestions regarding the menu and she keeps the drinks coming. She is really on top of the place. If we happen to go on a day she is off, we have a quick drink and leave. It is just not the same when she isn’t around.

Worst food I ever had. The prime rib was beyond raw and cold If there is such a thing plus it was full of Grissel. My girlfriend ordered a dinner salad and it was a joke. it was the size of a side salad and expensive to boot. I gave the place the benefit of doubt and went back a few months later. Virtually the same result of bad food. Never again.

My family and I enjoy heading out this restaurant when we have the time. It’s about 20 mins from our house. My son loves the town façade and all the fun western décor. My hubby is always happy with his prime rib, it’s all he ever orders. I personally love the chicken with mushroom sauce and a glass of cab to go with it. Service can be a bit slow from time to time and we go in understanding this, if we need something we have no problem flagging someone down to check on it or grab it for us. We’ve never spent time in the bar, but enjoy listening to to the live music when they have it.

Had a date night here with the missus a couple of weeks back. The place is deceivingly large when you walk inside. Perfect for a large party. Food was solid and reasonably priced for a steakhouse. I dig the old school, western theme. Staff was super friendly. Full bar with lots of local brews. Will definitely be returning in the future!

So this is a tough one to rate. The server was nice, friendly and took care of us when she was here. The problem was that she wasn’t here enough because they seem to be chronically short-staffed. My guess, based on how long the food took, that the same is true in the kitchen. So the only thing holding this place back is management of the restaurant. The food was tasty all the way around and if the service had been up to par, the price could have been justified. Quality was good enough on my steak, the ribs and the burgers. We’ll keep trying off and on and hope it improves.

Even though I’m a vegetarian, I enjoy the drinks here, especially the margaritas!!! Get there early on Friday night to listen to the live music. The place has the country atmosphere I love including a stream with croaking frogs!!!

Don’t use your credit card here to be on the safe side. 6 hours after paying with our card, our card number was being used somewhere in Washington. I’m not kidding about this either. Our waitress seemed very nervous at the end. I watched her fiddle with the register monitor behind the bar for a good 5 minutes then take our card and our bill into the back for another 4 or 5 minutes. She came back out and then tried to fiddle with the register screen again. I’m not accusing anyone but I’m highly suspicious at this point. Also, to be even more fair, which I feel Unilocal is not doing, scroll down to the bottom and read the currently not recommended reviews. You will get a true picture of this restaurant. If people in Fallbrook are actually taking the time to create an account to write only one review — this means that their experience was overall hideous enough for them to take their personal time out to vent about their experience. A bad and expensive experience at a restaurant lingers for quite awhile. I think it’s a travesty that their reviews are hidden and not taken into account of this restaurant’s overall rating. I’ve seen 2 reviews in the past few days be put down there on the«backburner». I’m not sure how this current policy of Unilocal will provide a fair overall rating so please do read and consider Unilocal’s unrecommended reviews on any place you may want to go eat at. I sure hope this one doesn’t get axed because it’s important for people to know these things.

We tried Valley Fort when it first opened and had a bumpy experience. Tonight we decided to give them another try. The experience was ok We had the calamari appetizer and it was pretty good. Not huge portions but decent for 2 to share.($ 9.95) Dinner salads were decent My husband order the large prime rib, rare and seared on the grill.($ 28.95) I have to say, it was EXCELLENT. He also tried the garlic mashed potatoes with brown gravy and again, pretty darn good. I order the rib eye with peppercorn sauce.($ 28.95) My steak was just ok — it was very fatty and the peppercorn sauce was not very flavorful. I ordered with baked potato but dish came with mashed. waiter also forgot the peppercorn sauce so back again for that. All in all, it was $ 85 for two steak dinners, one glass of wine and an ice tea. Service was decent, hostess very nice, the ambiance is rustic and kind of nice If we go again I’m getting the prime rib which seems to be their specialty. Our dogs are happy because I brought home all the fat from my steak and they LOVED it way more than I did. Oh someone else commented on the sewer smell outside — that is a problem for them, smells like a broken septic tank — I didn’t notice it when we walked in but it was pretty strong as we were leaving

We stopped in after having driven by Valley Fort’s «happy hour» sign a gazillion times. The interior is pretty old-school shabby, but not unclean. Our waitress in the bar area was mighty unfriendly, and acted like we were idiots when we asked if the burgers and sandwiches listed on the«Appetizers» page of the menu were included in happy hour specials. «Of course not», says she. «Only appetizers are included!» Er, huh? On the upside the draft beer selection was decent. The bona fide, HH-qualified appetizers we ordered were tasty(mini-burger sliders, chicken tenders, and onion rings). And the happy hour deals are pretty decent. Plus we caught to beginning of a live guitar set that wasn’t half bad. I expect we’ll try at least one more time to see if our waitress was just having a bad day or something.

I like the Valley Fort. They have some good music and the food is pretty decent. The wait staff is top notch, so tip them well and they will pay more attention to you. There is a drink in a boot, be careful(STRONG). I’m happy there is a place to go dance here in Fallbrook!

Hidden Gem. Been here a few times now and the food is always great. Had a filet on New Years Eve. On a night when the place is at capacity the steak was perfect. Veggies nicely steamed not mushy. Mashed potatoes were not remarkable but not bad either. Our waitress was a bit overwhelmed with the crowd but when we asked for split checks(after the fact) she accommodated us. Valley Fort has come a long way in the past year. Keep up the good work. Friendly staff, and patrons decent bands on the weekends. Drinks are plenty strong.

We have been to Valley Fort a few times, invited by a neighbor to come and listen to the music on Wednesday nights. I absolutely love the format they have of having new musicians play every 15 minutes on Wednesday nights! The regulars are all so talented and hop in and accompany anyone who need support that is entertaining. It seems all you have to do is put your name on the board and bring your instrument of choice. I have heard some outstanding music here and when time permits will always go on a Wednesday night. We’ve ordered food each time and have not been disappointed. We’ve enjoyed a rib-eye, prime rib, appetizers, and sliders. All were good. If you are going just for an outstanding food experience and your standards are that of ‘CUT’(Wolfgang Puck), ‘PRIME’(Jean Georges) or ‘Gordon Ramsay Steak’, then you are heading to a local steakhouse with the wrong focus. However, if you want a great time, great food with great music and local people who are nice and approachable, then this is your spot. Prices are reasonable, not too high. Their drinks are fine and the ambiance of local flare is worth a visit. I am looking forward to trying it on another night other than Wednesday!
