Les Baguettes

This deli is temporarily closed due to the gas leak that caused the explosion/​fire at Princess Diamonds Jewelers next door on 1÷14÷15 that injured 3 and is estimated to have caused a million dollars in damages. The owners are using the closure to renovate and reopen with new items, including Peruvian chicken!
When I was much younger, this location used to be called Catalina. When Catalina opened they sold a baguette that didn’t harden after a day. For Vietnamese families, that was a huge deal. My mom used to purchase bread from them frequently even though it was more expensive.
Anyway, I have purchased banh mi, baguettes, and pâté chaud from Les Baguettes recently. They bake their bread in-​house, so it has a slight advantage over other delis. The filling isn’t as tasty, but if you eat it there in the shop, it’s worth the $ 3.50. If you take to go, do as the Vietnamese do and request the pickled vegetables separately. You can keep the sandwich a bit longer this way.
The pâté chaud is a generous size and is a great treat with coffee in the morning. It’s much larger than the other bakeries in Eden Center.
The baguettes are thin and slender and not much of a crust unless you bake it. Much like their Catalina predecessor, I discovered that the baguette took about 3 days before it got stale. Since I’m the only person that consumes bread in our house, this was great. It also a great value and costs $ 1.67 with tax!

The bread here is tasty! The baguette is crispy, airy and light. The proper way a banh mi baguette is supposed to be.
Also, they make great pâté chau. A vietnamese puff pastry with a well seasoned pork meatball surprise.
For the west coasters, this is not your typical lees or Che cali. Although the toppings aren’t as up to par with those in little Saigon, the baguette makes up for it.

Great sandwiches for the price and definitely hit the spot when you’re craving banh mi. All of their sandwiches are $ 4 and under (except one special beef sandwich, which is $ 5). This is my go to spot whenever I’m in eden center!

I came here with friends with a bulk order for Bubble/​Boba Tea, and we will not be coming back here. First of all, the person that took our order had trouble following our order even though we had everything laid out clearly to him.
Then after we received our tea, their straws, cups, and the vacuum seal lids were of very low quality. It was almost impossible to break through the lid with normal strength. When I finally just tried stabbing the straw through, the cup broke. Even worse was the tea itself. They fill the entire cup with ice, so the actual amount of tea that existed was very minimal (the pressure and density of the ice probably contributed to the breaking of the cup). I have also never seen any asian places actually put ice in their their Boba tea because everyone knows that it waters down the flavor of the drink.
After I broke my cup, I guess the owner thought it would be in good form to get me a new one, which I was thankful for. Except when it came out apparently the entire store just suddenly «ran out of Boba» and «ran out of straws». When I finally got a straw from another store, the tea tasted strange. I tried my friend’s of the same flavor and it was completely different from what I ordered.
Horrible and Cheap Service, Horrible and Cheap Equipment. and I’m most definitely not heading back here again.

After a long day, my sister and I stopped in to grab some bubble tea. It was hard to understand the guy at the register, but he was very nice and had no problems ordering.
I would rate this place a lot higher, except I saw a baby mouse scampering around behind the counters. At first I thought it was a stuffed animal, but I realized it was a REAL MOUSE after I looked away briefly and it was gone.
While the bubble tea was fine, I am concerned about the cleanliness of the kitchen/​the place in general after the whole mouse encounter.

The bread is amazing, nice slightly chewy crust and soft center! We just bought bread from there because we had just finished lunch at another restaurant nearby. The loaves were nice and warm from the oven and survived an hour trip up North. The wonderful aroma filled the entire car. It was a bit of torture, being that the bread was in the trunk. We would love to try their sandwiches on our next trip down!

Best Bahn Mi I’ve had in and around DC, without a doubt. What sets it over the top is the long skinny baguette. The grilled pork is a safe bet. Delicious.

I ordered the #9 tofu banh mi for $ 3.50. It was amazing! I highly recommend this place. There was no wait! The restaurant is very new. The service is great.

My mom wanted to get banh mi from here instead of DC Sandwich because she thought the banh mi would be better and cheaper from here. Turns out, it wasn’t cheaper. I don’t think the banh mi tasted better either, but maybe my mom thinks otherwise. In any case, the bread is longer and thinner than I am accustomed to but still crispy on the outside & chewy on the inside. They were sparse on the meats, which I can see some people liking… the French do the same.
Not my favorite banh mi place, even in Eden, but it’s fine. They also sell pastries from Shilla, which I thought was interesting.

I was so dissapointed at this place. After reading all the rave reviews about this place I decided to give it a try. I usually like going to DC Sandwiches for my banh mi. Unlike other places, here you buy 4 get one free. I ordered the combination and meatball. The bread and long and skinny, it was fresh. But they did not give you enough meat and other ingredients.

#3 Grilled Pork Banh Mi. Yum!
About $ 3.80 (tax included) per sandwich. The baguette is delicious. Slightly toasty on the outside, soft within. Fresh and a generous size. That grilled pork is some good stuff. It reminds me so much of the Chinese Roast Pork. That stuff would be great over some rice and bok choy. If you’re taking your sandwiches to go, ask for the veggies on the side. This way, your sandwich isn’t soggy by the time you get home. The veggies are fresh and crisp.
Seating is available. There is a TV in here. The store offers other snacks and baked goods. I personally go elsewhere for baked goods and snacks. Similar items can be found around Eden at a cheaper price. Their homemade flan is good but not great. A bit too watery for me.
Employees are sweet, friendly, and quick. Definitely a great place for Banh Mi and freshly baked Baguettes.

This place holds the crown for best new banh mi place! They fresh bake their baguettes and use higher quality toppings, well worth the money they charge. They perfectly proportion their banh mi’s, with just enough bread (crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, not too much), with slices of pork meat, pâté, house mayo, and picked veges. When I first ate here, they didn’t give enough veges or pâté, but they have since changed it with time and evolved their banh mis to a deliciously higher level. It’s long and one will fill you up! The combo and grilled pork banh mi here are my favorites.
It doesn’t seem too packed yet, probably because it opened recently and everyone in Eden Center has their «favorites», but you cannot miss this one! Not only do they serve higher quality (at least from the other places in Eden Center) goods, but the décor inside is pretty nice too. This is a place you can take an «American» friend who is not used to a dingy, dirty, not well-​maintained place that Asian markets/​bakeries (esp in Eden Center) can be. This place is clean, fresh paint, and décor was well thought out. This doesn’t reflect in their prices too! Most of their items are on par with other places in Eden Center. The egg rolls are also a steal at 60 cents per egg roll, I think it’s actually the tastiest ones in Eden Center as well.
The Pâté Chaud (which recently got named the top 10 things you must try in Eden Center) was actually just ok to me. The croissant is nice and flaky, but felt they had too much dough and not enough pork. The dough-​to-​pork ratio was slanted heavily in the dough side, and felt it was just too much bread! Other than that, the banh mi and egg rolls are solid. I’ve still yet to try their bubble tea, but I bet it will be delicious. Give Les Baguettes a try if you are looking to break from your usual favorite in Eden Center!

went on a sunday afternoon to get banh mi and Viet Ice coffee. We usually go to Song Que but it was just so packed.
Banh mi was good. Very good bread and good filling (had the number 1 classic banh mi). Definitely not as good as DC sandwhich banh mi but it was a solid nonetheless.
Ice coffee and Thai ice tea were very good, strong and flavorful. And a good price ($ 2.50 each).
Shop was not busy either which is nice not having to fight crowds on weekends at Edan Center.

I remember this place used to be Catalina. Boy, they had great baguettes back then but their service was horrible, especially that lady manager.
Anyway, I decided to give this place a try. I got the special #1 with everything. Their bread is very crispy, almost as good as the French Bakery down in South FL that I love. I also bought a few Pâté for weekend breakfast.
Give this place a try if you are looking for something new.

So far, my favorite Banh Mi place yet! They bake their baguettes there, so the bread is fresh (and that would be a deal breaker for other places who serve not-​so-​good bread). I have been here a few times in the last 2 – 3 months and like the Banh Mi with Thit Nuong (grilled pork), the bread is fresh, has a good crust yet soft on the inside, the toppings are yummy, esp the pickled carrot/​root, and there is some seating in the café to sit and enjoy your banh mi while its hot.
They also serve boba/​bubble tea here. My friend and I both got the Viet coffee, blended, to go after our sandwiches were devoured.

My favorite place to get plain bread in Eden Center. It has a great crust, and soft chewy center. The service is top notch (well, for a Vietnamese establishment). Of course, some old Vietnamese ladies like to cut, but here, they don’t put up with it, it’s first in line, first to be served and the ladies behind the counter enforce it. Their pâté chaud is also very good.

My friend and I decided to check out Les Baguettes because it was the most mellow establishment in Eden Center. My first visit to this shopping center was akin to a pilgrimage to mecca. I had seen Anthony Bourdain visit Song Que years back on No Reservations and have been salivating over the thought of real Vietnamese food since I had the privilige of spending some time in Sagion close to a decade ago.
Eden Center on the weekend is very comparabel to actually being in Vietnam, mostly in terms of the throngs of people you have to navigate your way through. Song Que and Rice Paper were impossible to eat at so we decided Les Baguettes was a good alternative. My chicken banh mi was delicious… until I bit into a HUGE chicken bone. I was grateful I didn’t inhale the sandwich out hunger, which I was close to doing, because choking on a bone inches long would not have ended well.
Overall, the place has good food, but unless they become more cautious about what they are serving, I’m not entirely sure it’s worth the risk.

This bakery recently opened up in place of Vy Bistro at the Eden Center. I was originally quite sad that Vy Bistro closed down since I saw so much potential. I was skeptical of this new place at first, but when we tried the banh mi. boy. Let me tell you right now, it’s great! The bread is made on the spot inside the place and everything seems fresh. They also sell a lot of other food/​snack knicknacks. But if anything else, I think their banh mi is the main star of their bakery. It’s actually my new favorite place for banh mi and I visit every weekend to get some.
The reason why this place didn’t get 5 stars is because of the pricing. It is quite pricier than other banh mi, and as far as I’ve noticed, their other stuff is a little pricier as well. But because it’s so good, I don’t mind their items being a little more expensive.
