New Orleans Cajun Seafood

I originally came here for the crawfish and while the crawfish still is great and satisfies my cravings, what keeps me coming back each time are the snow crabs. I always go for spice level 4 (though beware these are spicier than you might think, your lips might swell) — the sauce is very savory and perfect. The sweet potato fries are great as well. The beignets? Not as much. It’s good to make a reservation on a weekend night but otherwise can just stop by. Ask for a bib and order five pounds and get one free and eat away! Plenty of parking outside. Staff is friendly and always great.

Cheaper than HOTNJUICY and CHASETAIL as it is a Chinese Restaurant. Great Service and Nice Food. Our first choice to have seafood. We have lunch in store and order the dinner to go!

Against my better judgement I ate here. I can’t recall being more disappointed. I basically gave away $ 20. Literally.
I was cautious and obviously curious as I approached the place. I read through the menu before I sat down. Tried to absorb the smells and convince myself that maybe there is some Cajun/​creole cooking happening here. NOT!
Couple things:
It’s Asian (staff + cook). Nothing wrong with that. However; doesn’t exactly inspire confidence that you’re going to get a New Orleans esqe experience.
Shrimp were bland. Feels like they just threw it in cornmeal.
As I checked out and barely tasted any of my food, the person (whom I’m assuming is the owner) asked what’s wrong. I said you’re selling Louisiana Cajun seasoning, but I don’t taste it in the breading. He said, «we don’t use it, we have our own.» SMH.
The Fumbo (b/​c it’s not Gumbo). Refer to video. They ought to be sued for misrepresenting Gumbo in this way.
I think the most annoying thing about it all is you asked my opinion while I was in the restaurant. I was honest that I was less than excited and you charged me for food I barely ate. If I could give no stars I would.

Arrived at 12 a woman there was just opening up for the day. She was very friendly and was excited to have customers. We ordered 2 fried seafood platters and they were excellent. Not too greasy and everything was seasoned like you would expect in a different neighborhood. I will definitely be returning to impress a lunch date.

I was never interested in crawfish before (nibbled here and there at different restaurants and homes)…but that all seem to change when I came to this place.
The sauce is the boss, and I know now to just stick with mild!
My friends and I have made it a tradition to order 12lbs of crawfish every month and have a feast!
The manager/​owner, Carrie is fabulous, sweet, and always happy when I speak to her. I really love mom’s and pop’s-like shops, and I feel like this place is definitely underestimated as just another crawfish joint. The staff is friendly and family-​oriented, the music at the restaurant brings back memories from the 90s (think new-​wave jams), and you can just go there to throw down, get messy, and leave a happily-​fed patron.
The crawfish juice/​broth is not salty at all and I don’t get a nasty-​full feeling after having a big feast here. The flavors are fabulous and I’m always looking forward to this treat every month!
Last tid-​bit, New Orleans Cajun restaurant orders their shipment fresh almost daily! Can’t beat that freshness!

Better than chaisin tails and hot n juicy. Not good like New Orleans of course. Beignets are on point though!

All meals were amazing…

We had a group reservation for 12 people at 7:30.
They let in two other groups around 6 – 7:15 (one group of 20, one group of 8)… they told us «it will only be 20 more minutes». they tried to give us free beer to compensate for the wait, which was nice. until it was over a half hour wait, then they told us, «we have 3 people paying the check!»
We put in our orders while waiting knowing that food would take longer… little did we know at 1.5 hours, we pulled together seats for ourselves. and waited. for another hour for food. i would have normally just stood up and walked out, but i was there for a birthday…
We ordered shrimp — the fixin’s crazy spicy (i didn’t think it was CRAZY spicy, it was flavorful spicy). gumbo (too sweet, HARD PASS on that). which should have been the FIRST thing out, but actually was the second to last. and a softshell po’boy… which came out gumbo… and also took an 1 hour to get. Can we talk about the texture of the food too? The shrimp had that weird playdoh texture, like the pre-​cooked then frozen cocktail shrimp that comes in those plastic containers… It was slimy and kind of gross. and the crab. all of the crabshells were SOFT. and i’m not talking softshell crab, i mean, you couldn’t even crack the shells with a shell cracker. it would just pinch the shell together. There is no way that EVERY grab was going though the molting process, so something was definitely wrong.
basically, don’t go there unless you want to wait 3 hours for frozen and thawed and frozen and rethawed food.

I’ve been to chasin tails and hot n juicy plenty of times and this is hands down my absolute favorite Asian style seafood place. They have many flavors and different levels of spicy and be careful because when they say spicy, they mean it. Simply ask for a side of it to try if you’re not sure. Their seafood is always fresh and you can really taste the difference. Their prices are wonderful and they always have a deal going, just ask. Def worth the money and more.
They’re a bit smaller and I believe owned by a lovely couple that works there everyday, usually alone. Since most of the time it’s just the 2 of them, service can be a hit or a miss but they’re very nice people and do try their best to tend to you. So if you need to be waited on like royalty go somewhere else. If you want amazing flavor that’s not only on the shell but actually soaked into the meat for an amazing price, this is your place.

Foods are delicious! And if you are a girl u can post the picture on «what’s up» or «we chat» to get a free desert!

I decided to come to this place after many of my friends and family have been raving about this place. I came here one night with a group of 8. My first impression was this place was not appealing. Looks run down and dirty. We were seated immediately and the waiter took our order. We never saw our waiter ever again. We wanted to order drinks etc but he was hard to pin down. I think he was the only person working there on a Friday night which I find odd. Our food took forever to come out. It took over an hour! So I was not happy about that.
But when the food came. It was amazing. The crawfish was big and juicy and seasoning is impeccable. This is my new go-​to for crawfish. I’ve tried hot n juicy and chasin tails and the flavor does not compare. They have about 5 or 6 different levels of spicy. From mild to very very very spicy. I got the regular spicy (somewhere in the middle of the spectrum). I normally can eat very spicy foods, but my tastes buds could barely handle. I was chugging water like no tomorrow.
Overall, I give service a ZERO but the crawfish a NINE only because the crawfish seemed like a different breed than what I’ve seen. It’s a little prickly when trying to open them up so you may stick yourself.

I was there on Monday nigh with my friends and I had been a regular Custmer for New Orleans Cajun seafood for more than 2 years ! I pretty much visit weekly. And I am never disappointed with my crawfish & clams ! Their crawfish is always fresh, flavor is amazing ! The clam is always just right ! I also like the fact they never charge for any extra sauce, and the price is very good too, u always get one free pound after 5 pound ! I love this place so much so I introduce to all my seafood friends, staff & service is friendly too !

The seafood wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t that great either. I had one order of crawfish with medium spice and my bf had an order of shrimp with medium spice as well. The food came out super late and it was really nothing to rave over. Granted we were with a party of around 12ish people, they were completely unorganized, people’s orders with varying degrees of spice were wrong, and the service was Terrible.
We had called ahead to make sure we had a table for 15 people, but when we got there, they gave us a table of 10 and told us to wait for tables to empty out to add to our table. Not to mention their prices are a little high.
The one plus that this restaurant had was this asian guy with glasses that tried really hard to keep us satisfied and not angry while we waited for our food and additional tables to be added to our table but the owners/​managers just didn’t want to cooperate with him.

Terrible horrible no good awful service. Flavor is good, crawfish is frozen. Smallish side portions. You are better off going to Hot n Juicy or Chaisin Tails.
Mashed potatoes are awful. Cajun fries are basic. Crawfish frozen. Shrimp okay. Sauce decent.
Layout of restaurant is really bad. Staff is not nice or helpful. The only good person there is some young Asian guy.

I’m giving two because I feel bad for the place. So I asked the lady for bread (they charge 50 cents), and to bring it ahead of time, and she didnt bring it, so I got up and went to the counter to ask for it (because I figured she forgot) and she still didnt bring it until the food came out… I told her to take it back and don’t charge me for it.
Then she gave me regular fries and not cajun fries.
And my mom’s lobster came out too salty so we had to send it back, we got fried flounder instead. I had to go up and ask for tarter sauce for my flounder. Neither my nor my mom’s fries came with ketchup but I didn’t even want to get up and ask for that ALSO so I ate without it. She had a bit of an attitude when she brought my cajun fries finally (like it was my fault).
She was the only waitress, they have to hire at least another one, otherwise the service will continue to be bad. When all this happened there were 2 other tables seated in the place.
The other table’s food took forever too.

Why 1 star?
Service was terrible. Well from the guy that took our order who ended up walking away to answer his cellphone ! I mean, who does that ?!?
I ordered the soft shell crab. 5 minutes after ordering they told us it wasn’t available. Come the F ON ! It’s evening time, shouldn’t you guys know what’s available !
Do you guys like side dishes? Well this isn’t the place to get them. I mean fries isn’t so hard to cook, but it never got to our table…
Hot and juicy or chasin tails is the way to go for Cajun seafood …
The only guy that was actually provided great service was the short man with glasses …

New Orleans Cajun Seafood is a hole-​in-​the-​wall. Small tables make up their limited dining space. Soft 80’s music can be heard playing through their speakers with 2 televisions mounted on their walls. Drinks are served in solo cups and entrees come in disposable aluminum foil pans with Styrofoam plates. This restaurant caters mostly to locals and regulars. Being a regular myself, I would not recommend dining in. The owners are very friendly but the service can be dreadfully slow and negligent.
That being said, it is all about the food! Their crawfish is absolutely delicious. The crawfish comes from Louisiana and the sizes can get very large. The heat levels are not to be taken lightly (medium packs a punch), and the flavorful spices of their «mixin» sauce will leave you addicted (I mean it!). I find their weighed portions questionable, but continuously come back due to their savory, addicting taste. Prices are reasonable and the quality of the seafood is satisfying; well-​cooked and always fresh!
I highly recommend calling ahead (20 minutes) to place your order or doing pick-​up. Find good deals (they come often) by monitoring their Facebook page or using their daily «Buy 5 Get 1 Free» special. If you were not a crawfish lover before, you will be after trying New Orleans Cajun Seafood!

Omg where do I began with this horrible place! Let me first start off by saying. I am a new orleans born and partially raise native. My parents is creole/​hatian decent. I was craving for some creole food or some seafood and my husband google search a new orleans place out her around the D.c. area. The reviews look good so we decided to try them out.
Let me first start off addressing the ignorance. Cajun food does not equal spicy food. Any dish can be spicy such as creole food etc. The difference between Cajun and creole is creole uses tomatoes and Cajun food does not. Both can be spicy. Creole food is more of a city food while Cajun food derive from accadians from the country of the bayou. I could go more indepth but i am not.
When we first enter into this place it was humid and hot. Alot of Asians in the place. We were the only african Americans in here. The place is fairly small and not alot of places to sit. When you enter the restaurant you have to seat yourself or wait. Trust me seat yourself because you will be waiting all day. Once we sat down, I look at the menue and then saw the prices. The food is very expensive for its location… quality… quantity. and service. My husband and I eat out at alot of places. especially upscale places. I knew this places wasn’t upscale just thought it would be a nice local eatery with a taste from home. We were not greeted just ask was it for dine in or take-​out (bad) we told them take-​out and had to grab our own menu’s. Again the prices are crazy for a lb of crawfish they charge basically 11 bucks a lb. In new orleans. Florida. .ga. etc you can get a lb of crawfish for 2.99 to 4.99 a lb. I know up north is expensive but that is ridiculous. If im going to pay 11 bucks for some crawfish, i want to see a nice ambience, central air, clean bathrooms, floors, walls, nice customer service. The crawfish looked like a knockoff. Real crawfish is bright vibrant blood red. Their crawfish is sorta of a brownish color. They charge 20 bucks for a lb of crabs!!! that in itself is crazy. The prices does not match up with the place.
So I order a seafood platter that consists of shrimp.oysters. fish and fries you get to choose 2 sides for my sides I order a potato and french bread that they charge an extra .50 for. The potato wasn’t even a real red potato, they seem like they boil it and just threw seasoning onto. Real creole/​cajun new orleans food do not cook their potatos like that. Also anytime you eat seafood you have a red potato. Smh this platter was 13.99 when i recieve the plate (a mini hot dog paper basket they put it in) it was loaded with fries. 1 piece of small fish (fish was good) i recieve 4 shrimps and 4 oysters. The owner forgot my potato and french bread at first. I had to wait additional 10 mins for those two items. Not to mention the shrimp we’re extremely tiny and the oysters. When I saw that brown potato I was literally pissed. The frech bread was a small piece of bread that was over baked and no butter on it. My husband was shaking his head the whole time. Their chicken wings are not breaded, look like they took it out the pack and just threw it into the fryer. Your drinks come into a red paper party Cup that you buy from the store. This is such poor taste and trifflin. Again the prices does not match up with this resturant. I ask the young Asian guy for our check we waited 20 mins for it. I was already ready to go. The people there seems to cater more to their own then us. We had to wait extra long for our food and our part time waiter barley came to our table. I will never come to this place again. These people are a knock off. In the south there are many new orleans creole/​cajun/​seafood restaurants that are better than this place. You get great food portions, cleanness, quality and customer service. A seafood creole platter in new orleans is 6 bucks. You get super big shrimp 3 pieces of fish about 10 oysters, fries (if you do not want fries you can get shrimp, pork, beef fried rice with onions) real french bread with butter on it. These people are ripping off my city/​culture and the history behind this cuisine. I feel sorry for the people eating at this place because they are not getting a real taste of my culture. I will never come here ever again!!! I will post a picture of the seafood platter from them. Ridiculous!!!

This was the first time I was here and I can honestly say that I will be back! I was in the DC area leaving an appointment and had a taste for some seafood so that’s what I put in Unilocal… several places came up but because I didn’t want to stay around DC for obvious reasons I decided to try this place. First off it’s one of those «hole in the walls» and usually that is the first sign that it’s a good place. I walked in seated myself and the owner, I believe, gave me a menu and all I seen was seafood deliciousness… being a shrimp & crab girl that’s what I ordered off too.
Dungeons crab legs, shrimp, and because I was in a New Orleans style restaurant I got a pound of crawfish… spicy! Now spicy is only the 3^rd level of hotness so I thought it wasn’t going to be that hot… boy was I wrong. Thank God they gave me gloves and a bib cause that God a## food was nice and spicy! I swear this is the BEST seafood I’ve ever eaten! Unless I actually got to New Orleans this will be the place I go to when I have a seafood craving! So if Ya’ll don’t know about this place need to try it out… it’s a small establishment but damn that food is good! And because they didn’t that’ve the signature beignets during my visit I got a card for a free order when I go back! Now that’s how you treat a customer! I live in Woodbridge but I will be going back soon!

I went here with a group of friends on a Monday night. We were seated right away. The place itself isn’t very big thus not a lot of tables, so I’d call ahead if going with a big party.
Prices are reasonable and comparable to other places in the area. I’d only get shrimps and other non-​craw fish items from the menu at Cajun restaurants, why? That’s another story… Anyhow, the shrimps here are pretty good, decent size. However, I think the sauce is kind of watery, could use more garlic and spices.
The manager lady was really friendly and checked up on us periodically.
I would definitely come back here for more shrimps
