Anejo Mexican Bistro & Tequila Bar

Falmouth is known for its seafood restaurants, and justifiably so, but reviews of The Añejo (and the recommendation of friends) seemed to call for further investigation. We went in hoping for a winning combination of modern Mexican cuisine and fresh seafood, and we were not disappointed. I had a sashimi tostada, a crispy corn tortilla smothered with sushi-​grade tuna, cubes of watermelon, and arugula. Not what you’d find on a Tijuana food truck, but extremely refreshing. My wife had a spicy chipotle lobster bisque followed by chorizo-​stuffed quahogs, also not traditional Mexican cuisine, but another Mexican-​themed dish featuring local ingredients that made for a great meal. In short, we were glad that we followed the positive reviews and recommendations, and are happy to respond with one of our own!

Meh. Their food is not terrible, but it’s not real Mexican food, so I can’t really give it anything higher. Their prices are extraordinarily high (even for the Cape) as well. No thanks. I can finally get better. It honestly seems like they’re trying harder to be preppy and hip, rather than focusing on great food.

Yummy food with options to eat inside or out. Great variety to the menu and very kid friendly. Portions are just perfect, and the appetizer portions are generous enough to make a meal themselves. Chicken tacos with pineapple pico are amazing.

This was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had at a restaurant. The prices were spot on with great value. The bartender on a Sunday night was spectacular, very informative and lead us in the right direction. I had the steak tacos and they were amazing. The atmosphere is great and the locals were friendly.

The scallop tostada was tasty, but the portion was small and overpriced. The fish tacos tasted good, but there wasn’t much fish, mostly just batter. The chips & guacamole were flavorful, and the margarita was large and did the job. The waitstaff was accommodating and friendly.

After a bike ride — shining sea like trail — had an excellent meal. Fresh at table made guacamole w/​fresh cops and salsa. Veg quesadilla + veg tostadas (excellent fresh veggies) also beef enchiladas and fresh cod encrusted w/​corn was amazing. Recommend highly to visit.

Well our sweet waitress made this a 5 star. A complete delight.
My bf and I ordered drinks, which were huge. We were the only ones inside the restaurant for a midweek lunch. A few outside tables were occupied. We had the guac, shrimp and avocado salad and tacos. All were great.

Stopped by here for dinner after a day at the vineyard. The portions were generous and their guac was to die for! Had the carne asada and couldn’t finish all my food even though it was so good! My friends and I ordered the fresh guac as an appetizer and it was amazing!

One of our favorites in Falmouth! We visit every time we are there and all meals we have had are excellent and «huge» portions. We really love the outdoor deck (and the el presidente margarita!). Service is the best and the complimentary chips, salsa, and beans are delicious and almost a meal themselves. Can’t say enough about this place.

Extensive and impressive list of tequlias, trust in the bartender if you need a suggestion. I opted for something I’ve never heard of or tried, and it was amazing. My girlfriend was very happy with her margarita. While we were at the bar, table-​side chips and salsa kept our alter-​ego, hangry, in line.
We ultimately decided to eat elsewhere as the bar and dining room are on the smaller side. As we were closing out, drinks were flowing and folks were filing in quick fast.

This place is pretty small and for what I understand you’re probably going to have a wait in the on season. We had a wait here on saturday but the host was explaining that this is the busiest he’s seen in a while (there were several large parties and it was v day weekend). The hosts did an amazing job calming the hungry crowd and trying to seat everyone as soon as possible.
Get a margarita. You look around the restaurant and you’ll immediately see EVERYONE has one. Seriously. Maybe I saw the occasional sangria but it’s clear the margarita wins. And for good reason! It was delicious.
I got the veggie burrito, my friend got the veggie quesadilla, and my other friend got the veggie rojo enchilada. I loved the mix of veggies in the burrito and quesadilla! It wasn’t just peppers and onions. It was mushrooms, zucchinis, and a bunch of other good stuff. The enchilada was also super filling. My burrito came with rice and the enchilada came with rice and beans. The quesadilla is an app so that came as is. All super good!
Last thing: GET THE GUAC. Best guac I’ve had. They make it tableside too and ask how spicy you want it. It was fresh and creamy and there was plenty for the three of us. Amazzzzzing.

We came here on NYE this year and had great service, and great food! The caliente margarita was awesome (just like Florida) and the lobster appetizer was delicious. My husband had the beef chimichanga for dinner and I had a pork burrito, both were HUGE and delicious. I couldn’t wait to eat the leftovers the next day!
I would definitely recommend Anejo to anyone looking for a place to have great drinks and Mexican food. Wish we would have visited in the summer so we could have enjoyed some drinks on the patio!

Nice looking place with a patio out front. The food is imaginative and flavorful. Most items are delicious, a few will miss the mark. I like it for brunch.

Whether you sit on the beautiful heated patio watching the pedestrians walk by or sit inside with on comfortable seats, you’ll be served with a smile. They have some very striking artwork inside that I wouldn’t mind hanging in my home.
The restaurant is upscale fusion Mexican. I ordered the blackened swordfish tacos. They made my mouth water and with the corn and bean salsa, it hit all high notes. The complementary chips and salsa was quite enjoyable. The salsa had quite a kick and I couldn’t help but ask for more.

My wife and I visited this restaurant today for a late lunch. We caught a beautiful October day and were able to dine outside. We are not strangers to the establishment, and frequent this Mexican restaurant when we are in the area.
Our server today was Kate, who took excellent care of us. To start we both had margaritas, a house for me, and a Mango Caliente margarita for my wife. We both loved our choices and always remark about how well they make them here.
For appetizers I had a cup of the lobster Bisque (had a nice kick), and my wife had the Main Street Corn on the Cob. Once again we loved our choices. For entrees I had a Cobb Salad (delious!) and my wife had the swordfish Tacos (both were outstanding!!).
If your looking or a great place to eat and drink in Falmouth, look no further.

Hit or miss here with everything IMO
Hostesses always seem miserable and underdressed. Bartenders can be either extremely friendly or really rude. (I guess that depends on your gender and theirs) waitress’s are always on point and helpful and friendly.
The portions always seem to leave more to be desired for the price. The food is really good — just small for price. The house made guac is amazing just not to the tune of $ 12 — make sure you get extra chips!
We always stop here on our way to or from the ferry — mostly for the tequila.

Good food, great drinks, great spot. Perfect al fresco dining. But go early and with a small party. The place gets slammed. They even have a wait list for the bar seats. Best meal by far is the red sauce beef enchiladas. But all of the tacos are delicious. As is the guac.
Three stars because service leaves something to be desired and because not everything on the menu blows you away (though at least half are well worth the wait).

Anejo may be a bit of style over substance.
Gorgeous interior, stamped copper menus, and thick, wide mouth water glasses — all with Southwestern style. And said menu held loads of promise, what with Sammy’s Bloody Mary ($ 7.50) boasting the bold disclaimer («He could tell you, but then he’d have to kill you») and a trio of scrumptious brunch front-​runners: the Eggs Benedict Añejo ($ 13), Carne Asada y Huevos, or the Breakfast Torta. What to choose?!
Can’t pass on a solid benny, and it didn’t hurt this one subs out the English and Canadian bacon with cornbread and braised pork. The hollandaise promises a chipotle kick, and the whole shebang gets a side of Añejo potatoes. And when the plate arrived, it looked picturesque (see the picture). Eggs were poached to solid yolks, the pork and the hollandaise were bland, and the cornbread was at once mushy and dry. A definite A-​OK in every sense of the word, as it would have passed for diner grub… but this is a bistro.
Sammy’s Bloody was equally okay. Ask for a little more spice in your mix, if that’s your bag.
Free chips and salsa flow like chips and salsa, and the rest of the menu looked just as appealing on the way out — enough to warrant a return trip. Hope the kitchen holds up to what the front of house promises!

Get the Margaritas! They’re perfect!
The Mango Caliente with the spicy rim was the perfect blend of sweet, fruity, and spicy!
The hubby had the cucumber Margarita and it literally tasted like the best cucumber you’ve ever had in your life, now add some spicy amazingness… BAM! Cucumber Margarita!
For lunch we ordered the starter of the street corn, it had great flavor and a lovely display (but being from California, I will give the corn a 3 out of 5, they are definately not street Elote but a great interpretation for the Cape)…
I ordered the Tacos Tinga! Gotta love me some Mexican chicken tacos! 3 perfect little corn tortillas filled with love!
And he ordered the Raja burrito! I may say it was a silent lunch because we were stuffing our faces!
We will definately come back.

Well prepared Tex-​Mex with a Cape Cod twist on a few menu items. Stuck to the basics with the Tres Tacos — one each of the tinga, al pastor and carne asada. An excellent choice that allowed me to try/​polish off all three! Carne Asada was the best, and I could have skipped the tinga — chicken was a tad dry/​flavorless.
Table-​side fresh guacamole appetizer a must! They allow you to customize based on what you like/​dont like.
Atmosphere was nice, as was the outdoor seating. The table was a bit small and crowded. Average service.
A bit pricey but understandable since the restaurant is in vacation-​land. If you’re craving something Mexican then definitely worth it!
