History

Established in 1865.

Established in 1865, the year that Abraham Lincoln died and the American Civil War ended, the Faribault Woolen Mill is a living testament to American craftsmanship, producing fine blankets, throws, scarves and accessories renowned for their comfort and quality. It is one of the last few truly vertical woolen mills left in America, creating every piece from raw wool under one roof. The mill’s rich 150-year-old archives inspire a timeless collection made to endure for generations.

Meet the Business Owner

Paul M.

Business Owner

After five generations of family ownership, the Faribault Woolen Mill closed in 2009. At the last minute, as the equipment was tagged for shipment to Pakistan in 2011, Paul Mooty and his cousin Chuck Mooty purchased the mill and brought it back to life, investing in the mill and machinery and bringing the skilled workers back. Paul led the mill back to its roots of creating fine woolens inspired by the mill’s 150-year-old archives.
