We had a good experience purchasing our Megatel Home. Everyone was very responsive to our requests. We had an our own home inspection done prior to closing and he found the home to be well built. Megatel took care of all the minor items needed on the home to close. We are very happy with our home.

Purchased our first home in Wylie, good experience for a first time home buyer. There are still issues we wished would’ve been addressed but overall we are satisfied.

The service was excellent, and all of the employees had a positive attitude! I had a great experience with Megatel Homes, and I highly recommend them. Their houses are of phenomenal quality. Also, they have excellent post-​closing service.

I just closed on my Megatal home today in Artesia. Melissa was an awesome salesman who was present throughout the entire process. Although my process was very long (due to no fault of Megatel), we eventually all got to the end goal. I bought an inventory home and their construction manager, Steven, was super awesome. Every time I asked him to do something he did it and went above and beyond what he had to do. I will be sad if they move him to another community before my warranty is up. I also had an independent home inspection. The inspector found nothing wrong with this home! He said it was one of the best homes he’s ever inspected. This was my third home purchase. I would encourage you to pay good attention to their contract because it is different from most builders.

This is the 13^th house we have purchased in 34 years of marriage and it is by far the best.
I have purchase homes from Lennar, Pulte, Ryland etc but none of these home compare to A Megatel home… they are truly a custom builder!

Took little longer due to 3 different contractor but at the end it was alright. Was not in hurry to move anyways so didn’t care much. Bobby did a great job after he took over Colby cross Dr. He got the job done…

Their houses r amazing I it! Omg! The service is so good too!!! I enjoy to buy or visit over there! They respect people no matter what! That’s the best point!

This is a very good place to buy the house! Every house they sale is so good, they build good house, every house is so good for family to live, you can use every space. Also the people who sales the house are so nice, they respect to the guest (visitors)

We are currently in Megatel hell. Lack professionalism, lack of integrity, lack of quality, and lack honoring contracts and change orders without major fights and threat of legal action. BUYERS BEWARE! THE WORSE HOME BUILDING EXPERIENCE EVER AFTER BUILDING FOUR HOMES PREVIOUSLY.

What you said sounds all dandy but it’s just more B.S. you really going to be there till your 67 to collect full retirement. MEGATEL will not be around that long. The owners are going to make all they can off people then be gone to where they came from. Glad I have the opportunity to leave. When I gone soon then you will know who I am.

Note: This review has been revised to include purely factual information as a result of Megatel threatening to sue us for libel. Read the facts and then decide if this is a company you want to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars to.
I would not recommend building with Megatel. We built in Woodbridge 6 months ago and let me regale you with some of our experiences —
1) Stained cabinets the wrong color and told us it was the color we picked. Good thing we took a picture of the empty cans laying around the house!
2) Replaced half of a wall 2 days before closing and didn’t tell us about it. Turns out, water had been leaking from the vanity on the OTHER side of the wall for days and they only replaced the wall that showed damage. Ultimately they ended up removing several MOLD FILLED walls and rebuilding our entire bathroom.
3) We experienced water intrusion on approx. 50% of our exterior walls, 6 months after closing. Megatel denies any construction defects and claims the damage was from the storm on 12÷26÷15. We were home during the storm and in our area (Wylie) it was very calm outside. According to National Weather Service data from our nearest weather station in Woodbridge, the high wind speed for that date was 18.7 mph with a gust of 34.5 mph. Total precipitation for that day was .89 inches. Enough wind and rain to cause «storm related» damage?

We’ve been in our home for 6 months and in November water started leaking into our home… turns out 50% of our exterior facing walls had water in them due to a construction defect. After fighting and pleading with them, Megatel hired a 3^rd party to water test our home which confirmed water intuition due to construction defect. Megatel insisted it was storm damage even tho they knew (via their own 3^rd party) it was a construction defect. They insisted we needed to contact our insurance in order to confirm the construction defect which we did. So we, the home owners had to pay a $ 4,000 deductible AND our insurance wont cover a construction defect… DID I MENTION OUR HOUSE IS 6 MONTHS OLD and still under warranty?
Megatel still refuses to admit any fault even though our insurance, their 3^rd party, and a forensic engineer all say its a construction defect. Meanwhile, we are living in a house without insulation, and drywall in the middle of winter.
After 60 days we are in the process of negotiating repairs… no work has been done and Megatel still will not admit this issue is due to a construction defect.
There is so much id like to say however we’ve been threatened to be sued over our Unilocal review. If that doesnt tell you what you need to know I dont know what will.

Let us start by saying we have built 3 new homes using different builders and Megatel by far was the worst experience and hope to warn others to avoid this builder.
We started by touring the models and selecting the one that was right for us and came with standard features other builder did not have or include in the asking price. We picked the lot and signed the contracts and left a rather large deposit of $ 10,000 that was required and later found out it was a tool Megatel was using to get people from dropping out of building a home with them. We were promised a 90 day build once the permits were issued by the city and that was just a complete lie by Zack SimpKins, our sales person at Megatel. Ourselves and everyone in our community was told the same thing but all homes take around 8 – 9 months to complete.
Now for the construction, Megatel uses the bottom of the barrel sub –contractors when building their homes and it really shows in the quality of construction, construction materials and issues you encounter when doing walkthroughs. All of which we have photo documentation of and can provide to back up our claims. Contractors were urinating in the main shower instead of the porta-​potty provided, tile was laid unprofessionally, carpet was installed with seams not correctly installed, outside brick looked like a 3 year old installed it with mortar all over the face of bricks, uneven mortar lines and bricks installed over dirt in entry way causing the bricks to lift two weeks after installation. Cabinetry grade is very low and uneven staining and sealing was done by painting contractor. We were told Sherwin Williams paint would be used throughout home, but Megatel switched to a lower grade PPG paint to save a few bucks during construction. At closing we were handed a Sherwin Williams warrantee, how ironic.
When Megatel builds a home there are no standards, what we were sold and toured with Zack was not what was being built. Many of the standard features were not installed and when asking our construction Supervisor Sal Villagran, he simply stated they were not a standard feature installed so we had to take him to previously built homes to prove it was a standard and get him to add them. Megatel build every home different, there can be two identical homes side by side and being built simultaneously and the moldings will be different, alarm panel location and quantities will be different as well as many other supposedly standard features. I guess they think no one will check other builds for consistency.
For final walk through and closing, we had many issues at final walk through and ended up hiring an outside inspector to help make sure the house was sound and built correctly. He found ungrounded outlets, damaged roof shingles which today have yet to be replaced, missing access panels and a host of cosmetic issues we had missed. We did note that crown molding was missing from the front vestibule and that all the other homes of that model had it installed and after walking Sal across the street to once again prove it was standard, he finally agreed to order and install it. We’ll, that never happened, the afternoon before closing we toured the home for the last time and Sal came back with his boos would not allow him to install the molding even though it was standard. I asked for his bosses phone number and placed a call to him which always rolls to voicemail and he never returns a call and allows Sal to deal with, that is how much Megatel cares about customer service and building quality homes. I asked Sal to leave me the molding and I would install it and he did and I installed it a month after move in to only find he ordered an outside radius molding instead of an inside radius molding which was what was required, I installed it upside down anyways and bet no one will ever notice, this is Texas.
The warrantee is an adventure, when you call for warrantee work Tiffany usually just sends you the sub –contractors phone number and says call them. Megatel makes no effort at all to help customers when issues arise that are of a warrantee nature once the closing has occurred. Thirty days after moving in we found a very large crack completely across the driveway, thirty days after closing, placed a warrantee claim with tiffany and Megatel promptly denied any liability and will not repair the driveway. One can see where to much or the mortar was rinsed away right where the crack developed, these driveways have gravel exposed as a feature but the sub-​contractor that did the work did it wrong. Who knows what the next ten months will bring and what Megatel will do if anything.
We only plan to be in this home for 2 years at most and will pass this low quality home on to the next person. Please do yourself a favor and look at other builders before signing with Megatel, we have toured other homes and see a much higher level of quality. Again, we have many pictures of documented issues and poor quality

Our Megatel experience as first time home buyers was great. John in the sales office was always helpful, and would answer the phone anytime I called. Before the insulation and drywall went in, we had a close family friend (who is also in the home-​building business) walk through the house with us to point out any concerns he had. He was very impressed with the grade of materials used and couldn’t find any evidence of corners being cut, which was comforting to hear as first time home buyers.
We did have a bit of a problem with a vendor about 2 weeks before close which put us back about 3 weeks total. Understandably this was not in our builders control, but the only real-​time updates we received came from the sales office. It was very difficult to catch our builder on the phone, and the only interaction we really ever had is when we happened to see him on site. He did stop by when he saw us there and explained the situation to us, which was admirable, but even while he was there with us his phone rang 5 – 6 times. My guess is they have him stretched too thin between our phase and the new phase that just opened in our neighborhood. As with any new house, make sure you keep a detailed punch list with anything you find wrong and communicate early and often. They fixed the majority of things we had on our closing punch list. Some of them we just fixed ourselves because they were small and we didn’t want to mess with it. Overall a pleasurable experience, we just wish we would have had a little better communication from the builder toward the end.

I had nothing but problems with this company from the moment i put my earnest money down on my brand new home. The general contractor is a fraud. He fixed nothing before closing and then refused to fix anything after. My one year list got «lost» and then found under a stack of papers on his desk and then he never again took a phone call or email from me. A year and a half later still nothing. It took 6 months for there corporate office to answer my emails for response to which i got a forged letter from the landscaping crew and the contractor and told that none of my claims were under warranty so they would fix nothing. This includes a sink hole in my back yard and possible foundation issues with my home but with these houses those are not warranty items! I filed a BB complaint which served to get nothing done and now i am having to sue! This company is absolutely horrid. For what we pay for these houses the craftsmanship is crap. I regret buying this home and i will never buy from them again. I cant even sell my home for a fraction of what i paid or owe with the current issues.
