5 stars isn’t enough for Dr. Carroll. My entire family and myself have been seeing him for the last 15 years and at least I would never consider seeing anyone else. I know other families who see him and they feel the same way. He is an absolutely phenomenal dentist — professional, personable, great «bedside» manner, and does great dental work.
It’s truly saddening to see other reviewers cite lack of computers and TVs as well as central air, and the staff being «too nice» as reasons to not go to Dr. Carroll’s office. Who cares about the number of TV’s? You’re there to get your teeth cleaned…
Dr. Carroll is, in my opinion, exactly how a dentist should be — easy to be around. As someone who personally works in the medical field, casual dress can make a significant impact on the anxiety level of your patients — Dr. Carroll rarely if ever wears scrubs or intimidating medical-​looking stuff. And once you go see him, you’ll instantly be comforted by his professionalism and confidence. Another great aspect of his care is the fact that when he walks in the room, the first thing he does is talk to you. He doesn’t start putting stuff in your mouth or examining, but rather has a normal conversation… asks how things are going, about your family, etc. You definitely can’t say that about many medical professionals. He will answer all of your questions thoroughly and spend as much time as it takes to make sure you are satisfied. He is gentle and is concerned with every patient’s specific needs.
The hygienists are wonderful, I’ve had my teeth cleaned by several of them and they all do great work and are very pleasant to talk with. The front desk staff are helpful, make appointment reminder calls, and nice on the phone.
If you live anywhere near Farmington Hills, I highly suggest Dr. Carroll as a dentist. He is as great as they come!

I didn’t want to give them 2 stars because they did great work & were super nice but I don’t think I’d come back here so consider this a 2.5 star as it just isn’t for me. I’ve been going to the same dentist since I had teeth but our insurance got upgraded at work & my dentist doesn’t take the new form of my insurance so I was forced to find someone new or start paying 20% of my services. Well, I thought I had a cavity & I wanted to get it filled so I searched & called around for a week & found Dr. Carroll who was close to home, took my insurance, was taking new patients & got good reviews online.
When I pulled into the parking lot I was a little taken aback by the fact that there is a tree pretty much in the middle of the lot, the office is in a small house, and where I parked I was underneath a window A/​C unit. I knew right then that I probably wouldn’t care for the place, I thought to myself «if they don’t even have central air then what else are they missing?» Well, when I walked in I realized they were missing everything I had grown accustomed to like new equipment, computers & TV’s in the exam rooms, laughing gas, digital x-​ray equipment, etc. The entire office needs a complete remodel, it doesn’t appear to have been updated since the late 70’s & the Red Wings posters hung up with thumb tacks everywhere just didn’t sit well with me.
The staff here was so nice, a little too nice if you ask me… I’m not really the chatty friendly type & when the dentist gave me a shot to do the filling his assistant sat in the room with me talking me up (she did say that the lack of technology is reflected in their lower prices) the whole time I was numbing up when I would have rather been left alone. At my former dentist I would have been left with the TV remote, strapped up to the gas tank & feeling good which was what I was expecting here as well. Anyway, the friendly doesn’t end there… this is what really made me not want to come back here again. After the dentist (whom everyone including patients just calls Brian, not Dr. Brian just Brian) was done doing the work on my tooth he shook my hand & then he said «god bless» and kissed me on the cheek.
Like I said before, I’ve been going to the same dentist since I had teeth (about 29 years) & he’s never even kissed me on the cheek… I was definitely thrown off guard first by the «god bless» as I’m not religious at all & then when it was followed up by the kiss I couldn’t believe it & couldn’t get out of there fast enough.
The work he did was great, I have zero complaints about that but the invasion of the personal space & lack of technology caused me to decide that I’ll more than likely pay the 20% rather than getting free services now. If you aren’t concerned with technology & are just looking for a really nice dentist & a really nice staff without all the bells & whistles then this is the place for you! You might want to put your hand up before you get kissed on the cheek though.
