I loved being my son here for the swimmer it fun for him and free wi-​Fi five for me lol

I haven’t been to the Federal Way Community Center in YEARS. Last time I was there, I think I was like eight… It’s definitely changed for the better! My aunt and I took my cousins and my little sister for a day of swimming.
First off, let me say that their swim hours are the best around. Most places have open swim from like 1 – 2, which really isn’t that long for kids to play and is inconvenient if you have other plans during the day. The FWCC open swim hours are from 1 – 5:30! On top of that, it’s only $ 4 for children to get in.
The aquatic center they have here is AWESOME for the price you pay. They have water slides, a lazy river, two main swimming areas, and a hot tub in one portion of the center — and then next door, they have a big sized pool that features a diving board and an area for people to play basketball in the water.
My only complaints are that there isn’t enough seating for people who aren’t swimming. There’s like ten free chairs in the place and you have to be there early to grab one. On top of that, there was a lifeguard who was on a serious power trip because, you know, he’s a lifeguard at a community center. Super bad ass, dude.
Seeing how the prices here are amazing and my sister loved it, we will definitely be back!

Great Clean New Gym. But it’s $ 8 to play Basketball, even if thats the only thing you plan on doing. It should be cheaper if you plan just to use one service, especially Basketball! A lot more teens, and young adults would go to hoop if they made some pricing changes.
Also they don’t let you run Full Court Games even though there is 3 Separate courts! Sad and childish. Also, no dunking. Like really? Gym needs some major changes to its rules to be taken serious as a spot for many people to hoop. Lots of Church Gyms in the area that are much better options and not to mention there free.
And lastly you must BRING and SHOW I. D just to even enter this place and you must fill out lots of EACH time you come in. For some odd reason they want your email address along with all your basic info. Absolutely ridiculous.

What a shame. I called ahead about scheduling a tour to see if my family of four was interested in joining. The gal on the phone was nice and said to just drop in and we will have someone show you around. We dropped in and the person at the front desk invited us to walk around by ourselves. I asked about having someone show us around she said no they were all on a break. When I said I would want someone to show us around she said no. Not a, they will be back in 15 minutes or a invitation to wait for someone but just no. If they are to busy to help those that want for join they are most likely too busy to keep the place clean, the pool sanitary and paying guests accommodated. Sad.

I love this place! I switched from LA Fitness to the community center two years ago for my fitness needs. I can take a fitness class while my kids go swimming, play pool, or use the climbing wall. Two of my children are old enough to take Group classes with me if they want. The instructors for the group classes are motivating and personable. It really does feel like a community at the community center.
In the past we have even had a birthday party here in the party room with swimming.

My husband and I brought our son here on a Saturday during the open swim hour. I’m not sure how busy it is on a weekday, but it was absolutely crowded on this day. The locker rooms are pretty impractical for actually changing, especially when you have a child to dress. They should put large wooded benches in the locker rooms. The pool itself is so chlorinated that none of us could even put our heads in the water. The water slide part of the pool has kids running amuck, which is somewhat expected but it would be nice if there was some control over the chaos. I doubt we will come back here again, not when there are several other pools nearby to chose from.

This community center is great!
Came here for New Year’s as my church rented out the entire place for a party followed by a dance.
They have rock climbing, volleyball, basketball and pool tables. People were also swimming. There are locker rooms to change and shower.
The dance was in the gym which was like having a dance back in high school but still fun.
Had to park in BFE due to the surprisingly small parking lot but that’s the only complaint.
I’ve been here before to get info for the kids for summer activities. They have summer camps and a buttload of activities for kids and seniors to choose from throughout the year.
They also have a large workout room and a good sized pool with some accessories for the kiddos to enjoy.
I had no idea until the church announced the party was going to be held there that you could rent out the community center for parties. Would be a good idea for a milestone birthday, anniversary party or a wedding on a budget.

The facilities are very nice, very noisy, and very exclusive. The majority of the clientele are either children or snobby retired folks. The staff are not particularly helpful, and you may as well go to a real gym if you’re looking to work out. Will not be returning.

We love this pool. Never had so much fun going down the slide and lazy river!

It’s the little things that make a place great or not so… I thought it was awesome that they have a barista right in the lobby as you come in. What they don’t tell you as you pay the 4 dollars for a 16 ounce is that you are not allowed to leave the lobby with it. So your there with your kids for a scheduled event have just enough time to buy a drink but the gatekeepers stop you from moving beyond the lobby. Either drink fast or give it to the gatekeeper so you can move on. Never coming back… the little things

I had a birthday party for my kids here. I think it’s a bit over priced for a 1 hour room rental. Especially if you have to get a bunch of kids from the pool, get them dry, and have them eat real fast. An hour and a half would be much better. The party check in staff was really disorganized. Probably because its ran by teenagers who could care less.
Other than that, the community center is a fun place for kids. Make sure you bring a lock for the locker room.

Very upset… planned all day to take my granddaughter swimming and was told when we arrived that the pools were FULL! What’s that? Apparently this facility needs another pool. No other options for children in Federal Way!

This place suck’s! Have to pay to watch my son’s basketball practice! And they don’t take American express! They can’t even brake a fifty dollars! Had to give them my license to get my son to practice! And go get change! Try to buy something at coffee stand and they were closed! So be prepared! No companion!

Horrible service. I was told by the front desk that we have to pay $ 8 to WATCH our son shoot hoops in the basketball court. He is only 10. We already paid his $ 4 daily fee and waiver form. There was a soccer lesson on the other basketball court and those parents just walked in to watch their kids. No questions asked. They were simply told «are you here for soccer? Go right in». They did explain that for insurance purposes however a few days before we were given a visitors stamp and it wasn’t an issue. I was told that the person who gave us a visitors stamp shouldn’t have done that? If the front desk paid more attention to the kids hanging around using fowl language and blasting their music maybe more families would be interested in joining a membership. We considered joining but after this experience we will not be coming back. Not family friendly at all

Nice facility. The women’s locker room is almost always clean. The swim instructors are experienced and encouraging. The lifeguards are alert and speak out when swimmers are not being safe. Staff at the front desk are informative and patient. Glad to see the café is open for business.

Purely a review if the pool and the «Parent & Tot» toddler swimming lessons.
First the pool is actually pretty nice, for kids to play in. The water is cooler than I’d prefer, but one gets used to it in a minute or less; my 2 year old doesn’t, unless she is moving around-​not a difficult task however! The room is nice and warm… The life guards are kind of a joke and are usually just talking to people and not really paying attention to the pool… But they have life jackets in the pool area, for use if your child needs it.
The lessons: Ha! Ha! Ha!!! What a joke!!! Worst $ 60 ever spent. I could throw my toddler in the deep end and she would not only learn more, she would have more fun drowning than in that stupid «class!» The teacher was nice and welcoming, the first class was great, we even looked forward to the second class… And then it came — worst experience for both my daughter and I! The teacher had a few students that she knew and had been to the class multiple (multiple times! That should have been my first clue this was going to suck) times, so instead of reiterating the same skills, she decided to make it an advanced class… Uhmmm WTF? If you are going to teach at a higher level maybe they should institute a novice, intermediate, and advance class! My daughter and I were going for instruction, and a fun, nurturing introduction to water and swimming. Asking the class to have our toddlers swim to a duck and bob in and out of the water while holding their breath seems like a BIG jump from TWO DAYS before when we were floating on our backs and learning to kick! I was disgusted, disappointed, and felt so angry! I signed up to teach my daughter the basics in a fun social manner, I didn’t anticipate the crying torture I felt like WE were going through. I called and spoke to a supervisor and he and I have been playing phone tag, money back or not, we absolutely will not be returning!!! I would NEVER recommend them for their swimming lessons!!! Run, don’t walk, away from here!!! Going to try twin lakes country club, where I learned to swim as a lil girl; fingers crossed it’s a better experience!

This is a review for the pool, and it’s really a 2.5 star review, but I’m rounding up to be nice.
The pool is kept too warm. Sometimes it feels hot. While it’s nice to not have the shock of jumping into a freezing cold pool, I just can’t get a good workout in a hot pool. The chemical balance seems off, as well; the water tastes really gross when it gets in your mouth. I’m sure it’s a problem of too much chlorine or something, but it just makes the pool seem dirty. The shallow end of the pool also seems abnormally shallow. It might be the standard depth, but it seems shallower than the shallow end of other pools I’ve been to.
There are a few positives, though. The deep end of the pool is nice and deep. The showers are individual, which I like. You don’t have to pay to use lockers, either, and the building itself looks very nice.

This community center is on some health plans for Seniors, and is a GREAT deal (the health plan pays your monthly fee).
This center has a great full sized lap pool with several lanes, a completely separate swim and play area for small children with water slides and other fun features, a very nice large hot tub, and a steam room and sauna. Workout rooms are upstairs, including weights, aerobic equipment. A great rock-​climbing wall. There’s also a full gym/​basketball courts.
Also has a separate area on the other side of the facility for conferences, meeting rooms, special events. Extremely nice facility overall.
They have monthly rates that are a nice savings off of daily rates if you use the facility often.

Great place to go for a quick swim with some friends. Very cheap. Very affordable and also a good place for kids to visit for a birthday part. Very enjoyable, since Wild Waves is overrated and expensive for most.

Garbage. Pool is the only good thing here. Over priced. Bible thumpers everywhere. Weight room is out dated every plate is off size. Join a real gym for less.

Great place to go swimming. We take our class there every thursday. The membership can be pricey but you definitely get what you pay for. Worth a visit.

I have been telling everyone I know that has children who live in King-​Pierce county about this place since I brought the kids here last Sunday. Trying to find a fun indoor spot in the fall/​winter months to entertain the kids, when you’ve been to just about every indoor venue around and discovering a new one is pretty exciting. They open at 10:30am-Sundays for open swim in their super cool indoor pool, that includes a large 3 turn waterslides (kids must be at least 48inches tall to go down it and they DO have someone at the top to make sure!) 2 smaller slides for younger kids, fun inner-​tubes and water worms to hold onto to ride the mini-​river run that goes in a circle with an inner whirlpool (fun even for parents!).
The community Center has plent of parking and cost 4.00 per child (for the entire day to use all they have to offer, however after 2 hours of being in the pool the kids were very ready to leave) and 7.00 per adult. I think they charge a much higher rate for adults because you can use the workout facilities also, leave then come back later. I love the FAMILY locker room area. They hold 6 cabanas with locking doors where you have your own shower, bathroom, changing area, hooks to hang clothes. Just remember because it’s FAMILY. you’ll have both men/​women in this area. They do offer seperate Women and Mens locker areas. We also saw a great big rock climbing area. It was roped off so not sure what was up with that though and an espresso stand for coffee and pastries and other snack type foods for sale right near the pool area. Check it out!

This is a great community center that also rents out conference rooms for special events.
It has a rock climbing wall, pool, basketball, and many other events for children and adults alike.
I love that it is in Federal Way, a place that really needs a warm welcome place for our growing youth!

Love going here with my 2-​year-​old! From the play area for smaller kids to the lazy river to the big slide for bigger kids, this is such a fun place to hang out. Bonus that the water is always warm and the locker rooms are well-​kept. $ 8 is a little steep for adults but I’d like to think it’s going toward the community center, which is one of the nicest i’ve ever seen. Oh, and I love the fact that they have a nice lobby area for those that don’t want to swim, as well as a snack bar.
Seems that Sunday is usually better than Saturday — fewer people. And I just discovered that the weekday open swim (currently 11 – 1) can’t be beat. You’ll have practically the whole place to yourself! That might change once school is out for the summer though.
Oh and parents, I believe that kids under 6 must have a parent with them in the pool. Just FYI.

The bf suggested this place for a family night and we had a great time. It is a little spendy for 2 hours of swimming, but the kids had a great time and so did we. Its brilliant that they positioned the hot tob where we as adults can sit and watch the kids play. Wish we could see the lap pool too, but life isnt perfect. I would like to have a kids party here, I have heard nothing but good things. We did the open session swim on monday night, it was a normal amount of people, I cannot imagine what it would be on the weekend with a crazy crowd. Might make me want to go elsewhere.

Modern facility that is capacious, clean, and offers a lot! Only drawback here is that the entry fee is high and the membership rates are way up there. If you can pay, you are rewarded with a nice facility and up to date equipment. The indoor rock climbing option is a plus.
