We are a locally owned and operated custom jeweler serving the Seattle and Federal Way area for 60 years.

We are known for beautiful custom made jewelry featuring GIA certified diamonds and personally sourced colored gemstones. While we love to make custom engagement rings and special gifts, we also specialize in appraisal and repair. From ring sizing and stone tightening to antique jewelry restoration, we are known for our high quality work which comes with a 1 year guarantee.

Gem collectors should feel welcome in our store. Whether you are looking for a loose gem for a mounting you already have, or a piece to add to your collection, we carry a wide variety of loose stones from amethyst to zircon. We have relationships with miners and lapidaries around the globe which result in much lower prices for our natural gemstones.

We also buy gold. Many of our clients use gold and diamonds they already own as cash trade toward a new purchase or repair. We can also redesign rings and pendants using your own gems. If you don’t wish to purchase we can offer a cash price for gold, silver, platinum, coins, diamonds and some gems.

Established in 1955.

Federal Way Custom Jewelers has served the people of South King County from the community of Federal Way, Washington for three generations. The store was opened in 1955 and it remains today the oldest continuously operating jewelry store in the region. It began as one of the original complement of businesses included in the Federal Way Shopping Center and moved to its new location in 1995.

Business Owner

Rene purchased Federal Way Custom Jewelers in 1981– and quickly realized he wanted to change the way our community experienced jewelry. He did away with the pre-​made low quality jewelry and watches that were popular in preceding decades, and instead began producing custom creations. This was soon followed by a love of colored gemstones and he began to personally source rare, exotic and beautiful gems to be the focal point in his jewelry. While he has always had a passion for the unique and rare, he wanted to make these awesome gems affordable for the everyday person like himself. To do this he forged relationships with goldsmiths, diamond brokers and colored gem dealers to reduce costs and raise quality. The result of those 30 years of relationships is the store today. To Rene the most important aspect of the business is that his creations allow him to share in client’s milestone moments, and he especially loves to see his jewelry become treasured heirlooms for future generations.
