The Commons

I’ve been coming here for many years and throughout the years this Mall has added, expanded many times of different shops. There is never a stability of stores here. Not a high brand area either, wish they did. 98% I got to Target, 5% to Bath Body and 5% Macy’s that’s pretty much it. The food restaurants are better around this area then the shopping. Hopefully one day there can be more.

Great place to shop and go to a movie. This was previously the old «SeaTac Mall» but it has since been refurbished and rebranded as «The Commons of Federal Way». The reason we like coming here is primarily the Theater; it is a Cinemark theater and they give some awesome rewards for using their app during movie time and they also have discounted movie night!

The Commons at Federal Way is an OK Mall. Anchor retailers are Macy’s, Sears, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Kohl’s, & Target. Century Theatres is also inside, but I usually steer clear of it. Watching a movie here costs $ 1 more than at AMC Southcenter, and the quality here is meh.
Some other mall stores they have are Famous Footwear, Victoria’s Secret, Bath & Body Works, Parfumerie, Wet Seal, Daiso, Zumiez, Foot Locker, GameStop, Kay Jewelers, Tilt Arcade, and some more. The Food Court at The Commons is also OK — Wetzel’s Pretzels, Zita Pizza & Pasta, Chinese Gourmet Express, Gyro House, Baskin Robbins, & Bakers Dozen. There’s also food options including Subway, Mrs. Fields, & Yummy Crêpe near the food court.
They recently upgraded the mall & put in Five Guys, Buffalo Wild Wings, & Murasaki Bridal.
However, it still has a long way to go. The parking lot is a nightmare, the pavement is cracked & the curbs are too high. The Commons needs more stores like Nordstrom, JCPenney, Old Navy, H&M, GAP, Forever 21, Vans, American Eagle, Cinnabon etc. to keep up with competition from neighboring malls. But if you’re in the Federal Way /​Tacoma /​Auburn area, you might want to stop in for some shopping.

The Commons at Federal Way is nice. It has most of your typical mall stores and some mom and pop shops, many of which are worth visiting. I wish there was a ½ Star option so I could give this mall 3.5 Stars. Oh well. I love how people on Unilocal say this is the «Worst mall in Washington». Um, no. Have you ever heard of Totem Lake Mall or Three Rivers Mall? Yeah. Ghost towns. «It doesn’t even have ‘Mall’ in their name» — FYI: Westfield Southcenter, The Outlet Collection don’t have mall in their name either. Morons. Food Court: Places: The Food Court at The Commons is an oddball — Zita Pizza & Pasta, Chinese Gourmet Express, Gyro House, Torero’s Taqueria, Mae Mee Bakery, Baskin-​Robbins, & Baker’s Dozen is what they have to offer. Only two recognizable brands, yikes. However, I frequent Baskin-​Robbins and Gyro House — love that place.
Food Court: Remodel?: The dated checkerboard-​style tiles, low ceilings, tables and chairs, and flooring in the food court all needs to go. Add some great food spots like Villa Fresh Italian Kitchen, Panda Express, Cinnabon, A&W, Jamba Juice, & Piroshky Piroshky. Keep Baskin Robbins, Baker’s Dozen, & Gyro House.
Be sure to visit Honor Coffee & Tea, at the Century Theaters Mall Entrance.
The Commons Mall was recently remodeled. Both Dick’s Sporting Goods & Kohl’s were added throughout 2013. Oh, and be sure to check out Kohl’s — Not only is the store new, but it has electronic price tags! Pretty cool seeing those for the first time — No more hassle of seeing another price at the register than at the display.
Summary:
The Commons at Federal Way is a nice mall, However, it still has some way to go. The Commons would do better with stores like Rue21, H&M, Abercrombie & Fitch, Forever 21, Aeropostale, Spencer’s, Journeys, Hot Topic, LOFT, or Chico’s. A new jewelry store and candy/​chocolate store would be nice. I’d love to see the large parking lot be utilized for an expansion. Add an anchor store like Nordstrom or JCPenney should one of the current anchors close (cough, cough, Sears). The front parking lot could use some help. Add some of that Free Mall Wi-​Fi, too. Add Auntie Anne’s Pretzels.
But overall, if you’re in the Federal Way /​SeaTac /​North Tacoma /​Auburn area, you might just want to stop in for some shopping and dining.

This mall has been around a long time. It went through a remodel/​expansion and now has a bigger Target, a Kohl’s, and a couple new restaurants.
I go here for the convenience and like Macy’s and Target. I generally bypass the movie theatre here to go to the better one at Southcenter, but it’s an OK theatre.
Most of the stores are one-​offs that don’t have products I’m interested in, and the food court is the same and small.
There is a lot of parking. The city holds a Farmer’s Market in the parking lot in the summer.

98% of the time, I come solely to go to Target. The other 2% is for Bath & Body Works (LOVE that store) and the movie theater. That’s it.
It has a Macy’s, Sears, and Khol’s (messier version of Macy’s), but that’s about it. It always seems as if ¹⁄₃ of the storefronts are empty. Go to Tacoma Mall instead.

I’d say this is the worst mall ever… but there’s a reason that it’s called «The Commons» and not «SeaTac Mall,» even they know that it’s not worthy of being called a mall.
They have standard stores, none of which really stick out. This is a place where you go when you have some time to burn and you need to be in the area. If you actually want to shop choose one of the many malls to meet your needs.

Its an ok mall. Its not small. Most of the time, I come here is for the movie. I mean I can’t see anything really great deals happening here. Well it is in Federal way so don’t expect it to be an upscale mall. There are plenty of available parking. It has most of the stores you expect to see in the mall.

I like this mall. It’s near my home and has the stores that I like to frequent. Also, the movie theatre is a plus.

cex employees are rude they act like when u sell them something that they dont have take it even though they only sell used items and tgey act like they never have the money to buy what you are selling aren’t you guys a business

Clean theater. Great options for food however like every theater the candy is WAY OVER PRICED! Good choice for movies to choose from. Comfortable seating and good selection of times to choose from. Customer service… we were waiting on the 1 agent to check in the line of 15 people… could have used another agent.

I go to this mall often and love it! I have a crazy 2 year old who can bolt from target to Sears in less then 10 minutes and I don’t have to worry about too many people or loosing sight of her while I’m also attending to my 9 month old lol… My husband likes getting massages at the oriental massage… I love shopping in target and we both love the simplicity of this place. Sure I wish there were better stores and better food choices, but I’m happy it’s a big playground for my kids lol

This mall is really sad it’s like sad sad there slowly bringing changes and it’s slowly bringing people I think the side where sears is located looks dead old and just borning then you have targets side of the mall and it seems alive and exciting this mall use to be the place to be back in the day I still come here because they have a Hugh play area in the middle of the mall I take my daughter to so two stars for that

Every time I come to this mall to shop it seems I can’t get out of here Quick enough. It used to be a good place to go shopping, now it seems I just come here for the movie theater, the shopping aspect is not enjoyable. The mall is just not keeping up with others in the area like south center or auburn mall. The outlet mall in Auburn seems to better on appearance and store sections then the commons. I’d I do come here to shop it’s nearly out of convenience as I live two miles away. I hope mall management does something to make it at least half as good as it used to be :(

This place has changed so much. More stores, more vibes and more things to do. I used to come here a lot back when I was still living in Federal Way. I’m glad to see that this mall is busy again and not dead. A lot more places to eat at the food court and outside restaurants too. The kids area is packed and they have a huge arcade inside.

The mall is fair with Target and Sears at each end and Macy’s in the middle but all the cars can be attributed to the movie theater also. They have a Dick’s sporting goods that helps with people stopping by yet a lot of empty handed shoppers. See what deals you can find.

For all the older folks remember this place back in it’s prime. But since they redid the Tukwila and the Auburn malls… this mall just seems to fall short of it’s bigger competitors. There are very few useful shops in here and most of the food stands in the food court have old and gross food. There are a few hidden gems in here though if you know where to work.
The Chinese food stand with the hum-​bows is excellent. Everything I’ve got from here has never tasted stale or old. Torero’s inside the mall is great as well. The Gamestop has awesome customer service and has friendly staff to talk to.
Do not eat at the pizza place on the corner where Cinnabon used to be. The pizza tasted super stale and the pasta was watery. Also it made me sick just a short while after I ate there.
The mall over all has some great things going for it like a movie theater, Khol’s and Target. Going to the movies here is great and makes it easy for you to go get some cheap candy at Target and then go to the theater.
In all this mall is usually pretty empty so you can let your kiddos play on those rental animal scooters and not really worry about it. This place is also usually kept pretty clean and isn’t very noisy.

I’ll ALWAYS call them Sea-​Tac Mall! I dont care what they want to call themselves lol, since thats what I grew up it being!
The re-​branded mall– meh, I liked it better when it was Sea-​Tac Mall– it does have a good location near I-​5 though and the mall itself has some decent stores to go to if your in the Federal Way area.

Meh… stopped by the commons because we just happened to be in the area. The stores were deserted (even on a Sunday evening) and many stores just seemed to be empty/​closed down. The food court area (where were stopped by for quick dinners) didn’t have many good choices to choose from and the tables were not the cleanest at all.
Overall, an ok place to stop by, given there were not many choices for a quick stop nearby. I wouldn’t go out of my way to particularly stop by this shopping center to get anything though.

This mall is okay. They are slowly putting in newer stores and arranging things around right now, so I would wait a few more months to shop here if you are looking to shop in a non construction area. There are a lot of mom and pops stores with ‘stuff’ to buy, like housewares and random house décor. They have target connected to the mall which is awesome.
What I really enjoy here in the little arcade they have here. Its cheap, most games are a quarter and not too hard to win tickets. My son and husband really enjoy it too!
Their food court is small but they have pretty good options there too!
Overall its clean and open, not too bright inside. But lots of space for your toddlers to run around and you wont really have to worry about a lot of people there. Thats why I like coming here. My son can throw his little rubber balls and run and chase for it without bumping into people!

This mall has been around forever, but has seen so many changes, upgrades, and remodels, you might not recognize it if you haven’t been here in a few years. As far as malls go its got all the standard anchor stores like Macy’s, Target, and Kohl’s to go along with a wide variety of smaller shops and restaurants. The movie theater which, from what I understand is either brand new or recently renovated, is the centerpiece of the whole mall and makes for a great focal point for all the traffic going up and down the hallway. Finally, there is plenty of parking and you will also find even more shops and restaurants around the perimeter of the mall and not just inside. With everything they have to offer, I’m not sure if they could possibly be missing anything you would ever want to find in a shopping mall.

The Commons is quite an oddball when it comes to titling it a «mall» or a «plaza» but I think it is called a mall. I come to The Commons to go to Daiso mainly because their items are cheap and its convenient.
I sometimes look around at the other stores as well but as for shopping, it’s not the best place to go all-​out.
I don’t have much to say about The Commons really. just ehh. It would be a nice place to hang out.

i’ll have to give credit where credit is due. The Commons mall is simply the redheaded step child between Tacoma Mall and Westfield Shopping Center (aka Southcenter mall), and now The Outlet Collection (aka Supermall). The Commons never really had a chance in competing against the other bigger siblings, but in all fairness doesn’t really lack much of any other amenities as it’s rivals.
The mall itself lacks in «hot choices» when it comes to fashion. With Target and Sears being the back bone of fashion, even the less fashion savvy folks can’t help but to agree that this place, isn’t the place to be. But where the Commons lacks in fashion, it really makes up in supporting stores and amenities. For example, tired of crowded movie theaters on opening day? Go to the Commons! Century Federal Way Theaters is located right inside the mall, it’s warm, its not busy and it’s relatively nice and clean. Also prices aren’t $ 12 a movie! It’s nice that there’s a Target inside the mall, because let’s be honest — we all love Target for no apparent reason, even if it’s just to walk around and kill some time. With a new Kohl’s opening up inside the mall it’ll definitely attract more shoppers hopefully giving new life to the smaller stores inside.
There is a small food court that boasts all the fast food essentials as well as BOBA tea shop, ice cream, froyo, and a Starbucks too. All within walking distance you can satisfy all your food cravings as well. Around the area of the Commons Mall, you can find: Red Robin, Buffalo Wild Wings, Taco Time, Old Country Buffet, Applebees, The Rock, The Ram, Red Lobster, Panera Bread, and so much more. Not to mention a few dozen other small shops and plenty of choices for foods, shopping and entertainment.
It’s never really my first choice to go to when I have a shopping need — but in all honesty it has never let me down for a quick fix when it comes to necessities of smaller items, food, or entertainment.

For a city the size of Federal Way you would expect better. No book store — not a lot of restaurant selections. No men’s stores, photography — just your Rugs, Cheap junk, woman’ clothing and Hallmark. (Yes there are a few others) but for the 11^th largest city in the State — it is pathetic.
Then their is parking — limited.
Most of the people in the Mall are not friendly and if you want to really get grossed out — they are sewing on eye brows or something in the middle of the aisle.
