History

Established in 1997.

Big Canoe Fun is the first commercial War Canoe outfitter in the southeast and is the creation of Jennifer and Pete Koerner. Jennifer and Pete have been paddling for over two-​decades and opened Up The Creek Xpeditions back in 1997 to share their love of paddling and exploring nature with visitors to this area and to create an upgraded outdoor experience for their guests. For 18-​years, Up The Creek has provided guests with the highest quality paddling adventures and the most experienced and professional guide staff in the region while sharing some of the area’s most iconic venues and sights. Over the years, Up The Creek Xpeditions has remained at the forefront of the destination paddling industry by adhering to the highest quality and safety standards and constantly introducing innovative products and ideas to the outdoor industry. Big Canoe Fun’s 25-​foot Voyageur-​style War Canoes are the result of years of searching for the perfect on-​water group adventure or team building activity.

Business Owner

Jennifer Koerner is a Peak Performance and Personal Development Consultant who has been in private practice in St. Marys for over 20-​years. Helping her clients realize personal and professional goals and dreams is both a specialty and a passion for Jennifer and she brings to bear years of experience and an arsenal of clinical approaches to consistently create successful outcomes for herself and her clients.

As an entrepreneur and outdoor enthusiast, Jennifer has owned and operated Adventure Travel businesses for almost two-​decades. A world-​class paddler, instructor and adventurer, Jennifer blends her love of nature and travel with her clinical practice by leading Outdoor Adventure Retreats. When Jennifer isn’t working with clients in her office or off leading an adventure retreat, she gets her paddling fix by coordinating team building events and leading kayak and war canoe outings for Up The Creek Xpeditions and Big Canoe Fun.
