Omni Amelia Island Plantation Resort

Made reservations in March for June trip. Asked for two rooms that would be next to one another. Children in one room, mom and dad in the other. Call at first of May to re-​confirm reservations and room request. Arrive on site, check in, one room on 6^th floor, one on 4^th floor.
Got manager involved and after a few hoops, they corrected the issue. After talking to others in our group, we were not the only ones to experience similar issues. Like I said, they did correct my issue, just should not have been an issue in the first place.
Limited hours on the hotel shops. Little frustrating if you decide you need a candy bar and a Coke at 8:00 at night.
With that said, the staff could not have been more accommodating. Food on site is excellent. Feel very safe on the complex. Nice views of the beach.

Was supposed to have a «hotel» ocean view room at a «luxury resort». Instead, was placed in a non-​Omni managed «villa» off property.
Now, my definition of a villa must be different than theirs. What we got was a motel like room, with 2 double beds with no sitting area. Think motel 6 with an ocean view.
Hotel mgmt admitted it was not owned by Omni so they didn’t have control over quality. They had nothing available so we only stayed there 1 night and moved to the Ritz. To an actual resort!
Bottom line, stay elsewhere.

Day 1 has been a disaster! Booked a weekend for my husbands big 60^th bday celebration. Room not ready and we arrived at 4:20pm. Sent us to the bar for a free drink and 20% off food bill for the day. Ok that’s a good start except they would only give us the lowest level cheap drinks not what we would normally get.
1.5 hours later still no room. Met others in the lobby in the same situation. At least we are local and didn’t fly across country to wait in a lobby like those we spoke with. We paid for a premium King ocean view. Second floor room that stares into the very busy pool and lots of palm trees. Beyond that we can see the ocean. Our friends were upgraded for free from a villa to an ocean view room that is not near the pool. Thought that was what a premium room should be for $ 350/​night!
Had our dinner reservations at 6:15 and finally got our room at 5:50 but no luggage in sight although we were told it was on the way up.
On to dinner at Oceanside without being able to change or freshen up. Met our friends and ordered steaks. One hour to get the food to our table and the place was half full. Sat inside and the AC not able to keep up with the 90 degree day. Food was pretty good when it did arrive.
Stopped at the desk to ask for the manager to inquire about the premium view and sent my husband to the room to relax as he was not happy. Still no luggage in our room at 8:00pm! Manager seemed to be MIA probably dealing with people still not in a room!
Front desk staff trying very hard to make it right but obviously the problems are bigger than they can fix. Went out to the bellman and asked for him to take me to the room where the luggage is stored. He offered to bring it up for me… umm no not letting it out of my sight!
Wine we brought from home in our room is starting to kick in… here’s to a better day tomorrow!
Update: day 2 went much better. Upgrading from 1 star to 3. They gave us a $ 100 credit, sent a desert to our room for my husband’s birthday and kept calling to see how we were. Still saw the same thing happen again at check in with people not getting into their rooms. Need to fix that issue!

Amazing resort! The staff were very friendly. I went here for a work conference and really enjoyed the restaurant Bob’s on site. The pool food however was HORRIBLE! it took forever, was expensive and I literally had to order a drink in order to be able to swallow the fish tacos!

I was a little underwhelmed with this hotel. The hotel property is nice, and the beach is great but the layout of the hotel is soooo spread out and kind of hard to navigate.
The staff is awesome. They were super helpful. I didn’t really like the food options and everything closes so darn early and is far away! The little café where they have lunch/​breakfast should be open until at least 8 or 9. It closes at 6 which is crazy, especially for a hotel where people are relaxing and want to do things on their own time.
The pool area is also nice, but they definitely cram a lot of lawn chairs and seats in the space so that everyone can find a spot. Overall it was a nice stay, but the rooms could use a little updating and the food options should be expanded.

Played golf and had dinner at clubhouse. Course is nice and challenging.
Staff very unfriendly and unhelpful. No ice on cart, nothing about pin placement. The person checking in people for golf is checking id’s to see if people are residents. I have two homes, one in nj and one in florida so it was a issue for him. Not the best experience. People don’t come out to be annoyed or interrogated like this.

The pool is fantastic, as well as the bar/​snack restaurant in the lobby. Heidi was the best!
The rooms were quite dated and the wifi… don’t count on it. The beach was clean and quiet.
If you ride the shuttle, as for Reggie. He’s kind and knowledgable about the property. He gets 5 stars and so does Heidi.
Several on property recommendation to try the crab encrusted grouper from the Veranda restaurant. I ordered it with grilled asparagus instead of being served over whipped potatoes. I did not want potatoes on my fish. It came over the potatoes and when I shared with the assistant server, it was it what I’d ordered they brought the asparagus on the side. Unfortunately, the potatoes were difficult to scrape off of the fish. The day following, we had lunch at Oceanside. Plantain chips were a great afternoon snack, but again my meal was served unlike it was ordered. The difference was the service. The manager acknowledged the mistake and took care of a portion of our meal. They offered to make it again, but we were leaving to catch a flight. It was a kind gesture.
Overall the stay was fair. If we return to the island, we’d choose another resort.

The grounds were very nice, ⁵⁄₅. The service was very nice, with the exception of a particular waiter one evening, ⁴⁄₅. The food left a lot to desired. Most of the time I was disappointed but the shrimp cocktail was the really good, ²⁄₅. The room had a great view and was clean, ⁵⁄₅.

Upon entering the lush property you think you are about to embark on a getaway like no other, with nothing but royal treatment. What should’ve been a great first impression was more like a huge false sense of hope.
Stayed at a villa, which was roomy but pretty dated, and quite a far walk from beach and pool. Once trekked over to beach area, there were no chairs left and had to pay to rent them. So walked over to pool, where you could not fit one more person in it! Way overcrowded. Got my first much needed drink, and almost spat it out. It was the most disgusting thing I ever tasted. Ordered room service for breakfast, banana pecan pancakes and an omelette, with two «fresh squeezed orange juices». Omelette had no cheese, the pancakes were plain with no bananas or pecans, and the juice… fresh squeezed out of the frozen tub from concentrate ! It was clearly Tropicana juice.
So far, our stay at Omni Amelia Island can be described in two words: FALSE ADVERTISING!

We had a great family vacation here. Beautiful property with something for everyone. In response to another poster saying its in the middle of nowhere, I don’t agree. Of course it is not Miami Beach so you really need to research where you are heading first to see if it has what you want. For our family it did and then some. We enjoyed the expansive pool which was not overcrowded and this was in May more of peak season. Service poolside was always there, almost more than we needed. We also enjoyed beach activities, biking, tennis, nature walks, the spa, and golf. Not sure how much more we could have done in 4 days. Nightlife like Miami? No, and not close. Great couples or family trip? Yes!
Good dining choices within walking distance. A little more expensive right by the pool at Oceanside but more reasonable at Falcon’s Nest. Overall great service from check-​in to check-​out. The only reason for 4 stars and not 5 are just a bit too expensive in the nightly rates, I’d say by $ 40 a night. Also, the Seaglass lounge is a great spot but not up to Omni standards with carpets that need to be replaced along with the sofas in the lounge. I think piano music is only Sat. nights and would be nice to have offered more than that.
We are looking forward to going back again! Highly recommend if looking for activities AND relaxation.

I recently stayed at this hotel when I was in town for a work conference. I was booked in one of the villa’s on the property. The villa’s seem to be the oldest part of the hotel and is in desperate need of an update. The room I stayed in smelled like an old musty basement. There are hardly any power outlets, and none where you really need one, like by the bed.
What really got me is that when I got back to my hotel this evening, the room hadn’t been made up and towels replaced. When I called the front desk they told me the villas get made up every three days. I’ve never heard of that.
I’d only stay here again if it were in the main hotel.

Luckily we didn’t stay at this hotel. We had dinner in their main restaurant. That was enough. Buffet only, poor selection, mediocre quality, too loud a band and over priced. Add to that the fact that the front door and parking were a real cluster, loosing our keys and charging 25 bucks to park, it was adding insult to a lousy atmosphere. Did I mention the hotel is warn and dated… A real treat…

I am checking out of the Omni today after a fun fill ATI conference. I found this resort impeccably run and organized. Our 600+ group was taken care of in every sense. The hotel is well maintained with lovely pool area and convenient clean beach. The conference area was easy to use with clean easy restrooms (always what I judge by). And the staff is an amazing well run machine. Obviously the leadership at the top is trained, accountable and appreciated. We enjoyed our stay. One small side note, the Internet needs some work. But being on a more rural island, I guess you get what you get. Thank you for a great stay!

Basically in the middle of nowhere, it’s a huge property with its own shuttle services to get around. The beach is miles long, great for long walks. Unfortunately the gym is small nor any classes offered. The pool is too busy and the service at the pool is non existent. They are young staff too busy gossiping. Very pricy food, the breakfast is mediocre at best but dinner is much better. For such a resort, disappointed in their service and quality. The photos look so much better than it actually is. Also if you don’t have a car, you are basically stuck since nearest town is 20 min drive away.

All we had to do was ask! Nothing to complain of now. They were happy to move us. Never hesitate to let the staff know when you have a problem. Awesome! Five stars For everything from the valet, to the front desk staff! Would not hesitate to stay here again and I highly recommend!

Gorgeous property and one gem of an employee — Tom. Other than that this experience ranks right down at the bottom of resorts, conference centers, etc.
1) Check in employee was unhelpful and unfriendly.
2) Room is out in Timbuktu and getting a shuttle from the hotel entrance to the room ¾ of a mile away is a wait. And, the room is upstairs so you get to haul your luggage up and down stairs.
3) The room is missing a room service menu, wifi instructions and the TV’s remote control batteries are dead. Each requiring another call to the front desk to be put on long holds. And, after an engineer comes out… turns out the TV is end-​of-​life; nothing they can do right now because it’s wall mounted.
4) Room looks like it was decorated A LONG time ago. Carpet is fraying and not recently vacuumed. Black hairs on bed.
5) No desk in the room and few available outlets to charge anything; used bobby pin left behind on table.
6) The conference room we were in was FREEZING for all 8 people in the room. It was an all dark brown floor to ceiling room. No artwork, plants, whiteboards. Nothing just dark brown paint.
7) Drink at Oceanside lacked any discernable alcohol — the pink lemonade was missing vodka. The soup was pretty good.

We had a wonderful stay everything was as it should be at an expensive place.

Last day hostess at sun rise café was rude and unaccommodating even with a reservation she didn’t believe us she made me go back to the room to get my phone to show her proof. It was upsetting to us as we had to wait 35 minutes for a table while people with no reservations waited same amount of time. She had an attitude. BUT we when sat down waitress made up for hostess rudeness and we are glad we stayed.
I can’t let one rude employee ruin our experience at the hotel, but it was upsetting to us.
When we checked out they asked us how was our stay and we said amazing except our last experience, Kyle at the desk gave us money off the breakfast but we declined, I don’t find it fair because one crappy employees attitude that others have to pay for it.

Just spent a week at the Omni and was very pleased, nearly perfect. Decided to stay over the Ritz based on reviews and a much more competitive price and very happy with the decision. The room was nice, clean and had a great view. The dining on premises was excellent (although not inexpensive). The beach is great and the pool was beautiful (enjoyed both due to the great weather in December, which can’t really credit Omni for). Loved that despite the size, it felt very quiet and roomy. Service was very responsive. Always parking available in the garage. Nice that on the premises were not only multiple dining options but also a nice collection of shops.
The downside was a $ 25 resort fee that provided free parking and free Internet (like anyone else charges these days). Given we had two rooms, I felt this was unfair. Also, Internet was down one morning but they did it fixed. Overall, a great resort.

Oceanside restaurant on site has the basic menu that will accommodate everyone. Not a very big selection and for a restaurant in a hotel, it’s reasonably priced ($ 25-​$ 30 per entrée). Food flavoring was mediocre, not great (we had the filet which was a bit dry even cooked at medium rare– not a good marbling filet then and not tender) ($ 28) — came with fries, we also had the special fish — was deep fried and came with a coconut rice and mango slaw ($ 30) — it was a huge portion with two large filet and the meat special which was meatloaf (was very dry) ($ 30) — came with mashed potatoes and asparagus.

Man oh man do I love staying at Omni resorts!
The resort is pretty much a tree covered compound with just about anything you could possibly want. As we headed towards check-​in we noticed some temporary signs directing us in a different direction. Unfortunately the beautiful view we were expecting was not what we saw when we pulled up. They were doing some construction near the front entrance to the hotel and we ended up checking in at a makeshift check-​in desk set up in the convention space. This wouldn’t have been too big of a deal, but we ended up having to walk a LOOOOONG ways to our room. Thankfully they had plenty of staff available to help you with your things and made the change in check-​in location as easy as they could. After parking the car we handed over our stuff to a bellhop and he met us in our room a few minutes later.
When we walked into our oceanfront room we immediately forgot about the long walk and just couldn’t get over the beautiful room and view. Our room had 2 huge comfy beds, a bright beach themed bathroom, a little bar area with a small fridge, a flat screen tv, a desk area, and a huge balcony overlooking the pool area and the beach. If we hadn’t had plans for the afternoon I’m sure my mom and I would have just parked our butts on the balcony and spent a few hours there.
We had some race activities to attend at a different location that evening but we spent some time exploring the resort grounds first. Our first stop was the Oceanside restaurant for a late lunch. The restaurant has a beautiful patio that overlooks the pool area and the ocean. We decided to sit outside to enjoy the view and the cool weather. We happened to be in town during Restaurant Week so they had a special lunch menu available. For $ 12 you could get an appetizer and entrée so I decided to give it a shot. I had the fried plantains and the fish tacos. It was SO much food and so tasty! It was such a great deal for $ 12, especially considering it was an on-​property restaurant.
After lunch we decided to walk over to the Shopping Village on property. There is a tram available that can take you anywhere on property that is available every 15 minutes, but we decided to just walk over. It only took us about 5 minutes to walk from the lobby to the village. The village has 11 stores and 3 places to eat. Its a great place to spend the afternoon and maybe get a bite to eat.
At the resort they also have 2 pools, a golf course, healthy & fitness center, a spa, tennis courts, play ground, basketball courts, and even a mini-​golf course. They really do have something for everyone!
One of my favorite things about the resort is the Resort Guide that they give you when they check in. A new one is printed each week and it includes a listing of all the restaurants, shopping, and activities available at the resort. It also includes a calendar of the weeks events that includes things like exercise classes, Segway tours, trivia nights, golf clinics, kayaking, live entertainment, and even a farmers market on Saturday mornings.
