I’ve been going to this salon for a while now, and there’s no one else I’d rather see than my stylist Brittany Young! I’ve come from a long history of heat damaged and processed hair, but with time and patience Brittany was able to restore my hair back to its healthy state! If you’re looking for a versatile stylist Brittany is the one to see! She does amazing sew ins, natural hair, and even protective braid styles!

I went to this salon on June 16, 2015 after a recommendation from a friend/​coworker. Brittany Young was my stylist. This was literally the worst experience with a salon that I have ever had!
First, I called during the day because I knew that I might be late since I was going to the appointment from work. I asked the receptionist (or whoever answered the phone) if Brittany would be able to service me if I were 15 minutes late, she said yes but after 15 minutes she charges a $ 10 (!!) late fee. Okay.
As soon as I walked into the salon, NO ONE said hi, hello, do you have an appointment, etc. They just stared and me and finally I spoke and said that I had an appointment with Brittany. Instead of greeting me since it was my first time there, she says «you know about the late fee right?». And that was basically the extent of her conversation with me the entire time I was at the salon. She walked me to the back, POINTED at the chair I was supposed to sit in (did not say one word) besides asking which service I wanted and telling me price differences. After leaving the wash room, I was seated at her work station. She starts complaining about how her flat irons DON’T WORK and how she should expect that because you get what you pay for on Ebay (meaning she bought cheap ones and now her customers have to suffer). Also, that’s absolutely not the thing to say when you have someone seated in your chair doing their hair. The only other thing she said to me was that I needed a trim. So over the 2 hours I was there she said 3 sentences to me.
I ended up spending $ 80 total = $ 60 (wash/​blow dry/​straighten) + $ 10 (trim) + $ 10 (late fee).
I will never go to this salon again. I warn you, if you do, don’t go to Brittany.

This is probably one of the worst experience I’ve ever had at a hair salon. If you are a male client with long hair, then this probably not the place for you. The lady who washing my hair seemingly had an attitude as if she didn’t want to be there or be bothered with tending to male clientele. After getting my hair shampooed and conditioned they sat me down in the waiting area for a little over an hour and not one person in the hair salon had the decency to give me an update for when I would ready for the next step. By the time the man was ready to press my hair, he realized that the girl didn’t thoroughly wash out the conditioner. Thus, creating an even more convoluted mess.
I waited several months before applying heat to my hair again to repair some of the damage. When I finally got the nerve to go back to a DIFFERENT hair salon, I had a much better experience and walked away with the confidence that I’m used to having.

After seeing a groupon deal, I made an appointment for the salon. When I arrived for my time, I was told that my stylist was «on the way– she went to the store». She would be about 20 mins late. Seeing that I needed a haircut, I DID wait the 20 mins. I was the updated that she was another 5 – 10 minutes away. I simply just said «no» to the services then. It would have been a good groupon deal but it just didn’t work out!

I recently moved to Austin, TX but when I was visiting family in the Detroit area I always made it a point to visit Meme at Lillie D’or. The staff is very professional and all of the stylists there are EXTREMELY talented. Since it’s located on a main street you have to park in front or on the side streets– but I have never had a problem.
Meme is the salon owner and takes great pride in her salon and ensuring that her staff receives education. I really miss this place and especially Meme’s work. She does wonders with natural hair and you don’t have to worry about her going scissor happy!
Check them out, you won’t regret it!

This is a review of a couples massage the BF and I got together on Valentine’s Day with the groupon he bought. Note, we had to reschedule from a December appointment because one of the massage therapists quit, and we had to wait until there were two again.
Overall, this was a pretty disappointing experience. The only really nice thing was that my BF and I did it together.
PROS:
* The room’s décor is nice, very girly and glammed up so you feel like a princess.
* My masseuse called me Ms. Amy, so I felt like a princess. (Notice a trend here in the pros, lol.)
* I was more relaxed after the massage… she worked on my tired muscles all over, so I felt more like a princess and less like a tired teacher, going into the rest of our Valentine’s Day plans.
AREAS OF IMPROVEMENT:
* Our appointment was at 5:15pm, then they called to say we’re behind, so 5:30pm. We got there at 5:25 and waited until 5:55 to be called in… so 40 minutes after our original time, and 25 minutes after the second time they told us. They can avoid this by keeping the massages to a tighter schedule. A one hour massage means 5 minutes to undress, 50 minutes of massage, and 5 minutes to dress. Instead, it seemed like they were massaging for an actual hour, so of course that pushes back all your appointments until you turn a 5:15 into a 5:55.
* They need to dim the lights when you start getting massaged. I couldn’t really relax because it was so bright.
* They need a full length heating pad for the tables. There was a small one under my back that was off center, so I asked her to center it, but I was still freezing through the massage.
And just a note: this is primarily a hair salon for black women, so if you are sensitive to the fumes, this would not be a good place to get a massage.
A Groupon is supposed to introduce you to a business and impress you so you keep going back, but I don’t see myself going back. I’ll stick to the wonderful experiences at Massage Green in Livonia who really know what they’re doing.

Go regularly for hair cuts colors and styles! I love the environment and The owner is my stylist and she makes sure that my hair is always healthy and up to the latest trends and styles. Great location, prices, beautiful inside as well. You may think you’re in New York, Chicago, or LA because of how high end the salon is! I’m a very happy and loyal customer!

My massage itself was technically very good. So if you aren’t picky it was a great groupon value. However I didn’t realize (my mistake for not doing more research) that the massage place is primarily a large and very active hair salon. The hair salon has a really strong odor of all the chemicals and relaxers that are being used which for me was really offputting. I arrived five minutes early and then waited for 20 minutes past my appointment time to be taken into the massage room. She didn’t introduce herself. Granted it’s very cold out right now, but the massage room was pretty cold and I commented on it. Even though a heater was going, it didn’t do much. The massage table did not have a heated pad under it. When I mentioned the idea, the therapist said «oh the other table has one». She didn’t move me to that table or move that pad to me. I had goosebumps and my toes were icicles. She didn’t offer some extra blankets. I asked and received what I needed but the ‘make me feel tended’ element was missing.

I had purchased a groupon a couple months ago, and repeatedly tried to call and schedule an appointment here for a couple’s massage. Any time and date I preferred was booked, and the women who spoke with me on the phone were never friendly. The last time was when I tried to call again, and was told that all couple massage sessions were booked until March. I wouldn’t have minded as much if she hadn’t said this in the most snobby, demeaning tone ever. I’ve worked in retail, and I know this is completely unacceptable especially if you are trying to increase clientele. Thank goodness I was able to return the Group on.

Went for massage and a hair coloring/​style.
Massage was recommended by my wife who had Emma and said it was the best massage she ever had (and that is after quite a few of multiple salons locally). I went in and Emma did a fantastic job, attentive and friendly, only as chatty as you want her to be (My wife hardly spoke at all, I chatted up the whole session). She was very knowledgeable and a well studied student of Irene’s. A++
The following day I wanted to surprise my wife with a coloring and style change as she had recently went from a lifelong brunette to a full blonde for me. So under the advice of stylist Krista, we decided to blonde the top and darken the sides and goatee a bit for a stylish but not too drastic change (at my behest). The result is wonderful… see the pics. A+
I recommend Lillie as an attentive salon with knowledgeable staff in each area of expertise. (Even the Nail tech I did not avail myself of was very attentive to her customer)

I was in need of a STAT massage, checked Groupon, and found Lillie D’or. I called to see if I could get an appointment that day before I purchased the Groupon. Not only was I able to get an appointment in 1.5 hrs, they told me not to bother with Groupon and they’d honor the special price.
The salon itself is pretty nice. Tall ceilings with a minimalist décor. The massage area is upstairs. There’s also an office up there and it was a bit messy, with some boxes and papers stacked behind a stand-​up accordion wall.
Emma was my therapist and she was amazing. I told her that my problem areas were my neck, shoulders, and upper back and she made that the focus for an hour. As we started I realized I forgot to ask her not to chat throughout the massage (I’ve been the victim of a chatty masseuse before) but not to worry, Emma was professional, quiet, and soothing. I highly recommend making an appointment with her!

My friend had bought a Groupon and saw Pang for a cut and color. Her hair turned out darling so I figured I give it a try. When I called I said I was a new customer and asked for any specials they may have… cut and color for $ 60? Sounds good to me! I quickly made an appointment (although the salon was pretty slow when I was there). Pang is so sweet, and did a good job on my hair. I would have rated it 5 stars but she worked slowly (2 ½ hours) which is a bit overkill for me. But she massaged my head and didn’t talk too much (which I love!). I would definitely go back.

I bought a groupon that includes a hair cut, styling and highlights. I think they did a good job and the staff was very friendly. It’s definitely worth the money!

MAKE SURE YOU KNOW THE COST!
Recently, I went to Lille D’ or to use my groupon I bought months ago. I was very excited as I’ve been trying for months to find a salon I like for a while now. The stylist was very friendly and was excited about the style of my hair. However, when I realized I would be paying an additional $ 30 because my hair was long, I was extremely disappointment. I had already purchased the Groupon so I felt stuck.
The Groupon does not state anything regarding «long hair fees» and was shocked when a first time customer was charged an extra fee.
I would expect differently from a salon trying to gain more business from signing up with Groupon. I will never go back to this salon based on how my situation was handled. These fees should be in the fine print of the Groupon not after the Groupon was already purchased.

This salon is amazing, I’ve been going to Meme the owner for seven years now and I am constantly getting compliments on my hair, how healthy it is, the cuts, the color EVERYTHING! She specializes in healthy hair, and whenever I bring her a new look or hairstyle she always rocks it so it looks perfect on me!
I love the new shop too being able to go get my hair, nails, a massage, and then go grab something to eat at one of Ferndales fabulous restaurants. The location is perfect near restaurants, bakeries, and boutique shopping.
Customer service is amazing and she has everything you need all under one roof, I got my mom a massage as a gift and she can’t wait to use it, because of the raves that my best friend and her mom said about their massages they received their and how wonderful their experience was.
The salon gives you a Hollywood feel, because of the aesthetic, décor, and stylish staff, but still with the know how and experience of a Detroit Salon/​Stylist team.
I would recommend this salon and its services for anyone who wants quality services and excellent customer service at an affordable price.

Being the Groupon fiend that I am, I bought the Lillie D’or Groupon to get a haircut, style, conditioning treatment and full highlights for $ 49 (AMAZING deal).
To cut a long story short (which is exactly what happened to my hair), I got my mid-​back length hair cut to my shoulders and that was NOT what I had asked for. The highlights did come out okay but looks splotchy around some spots.
There were also a couple of things I noticed and did not like (and this is was specific to my hairdresser. not sure about the others). The towel she used to dry my hair smelled musty and mildewy. It was not fun to have it wrapped around your neck and across your shoulders for a couple of hours. Also, towards the end of my blowdry, I noticed that the brush she used had blonde strands/​brown strands on it and I have thick black hair, so it was definitely not mine. It just takes 10 seconds to pull the hair out of the brush !
Towards the end, I was very very upset when I left the salon and the hairdresser also looked like she was going to cry. But I did not like how short my hair had become. As soon as I went home, I did get a ton of compliments on how cute it looked and I have grown to like it in the last week but I am still very Meh about it.
Overall, great location right on Woodward and parking was not a problem for me. The place is clean and the staff looks real fun and friendly. I did see a ton of ‘transformations’ on the other women at the salon and everyone looked pleased as they walked out …
I had one negative experience but you can give it a try if you like.

This review is for massage services only! I bought a groupon for a one hour massage here. I had never been to the salon before, but it was down the street from me so I thought I’d give it a shot. But even without a groupon, the prices are very affordable.
Rhonda did my massage and she was amazing! I told her it was my first massage, so she explained the entire process to me and really made me feel comfortable. She gave a great massage, not too hard and not too soft, and really worked on my trouble spots. The massage rooms are very serene, with nice and calming music playing in the background. The massage bed itself was heated, which was a nice bonus.
The only reason I give it 4, instead of 5, stars is the lack of parking. The salon is located right on Woodward, so parking is limited. I ended up parking in the little strip mall parking lot about 3 – 4 storefronts down. I think there might be parking around back, but I didn’t check.
All in all, it was a good experience and I would recommend giving this place a try!
