Progress Custom Screen Printing

The owner, Brian I think his name was, was very strange. His demeanor right from the start was impersonal and unprofessional, The way he spoke to me just rubbed me the wrong way — like I was stupid — and sarcastic to the point of making me uncomfortable. He is very young, maybe college aged, so maybe that explains it.
He charges an extra % fee for credit card transactions which I found rather odd and wasn’t told until I picked the tshirts up. If I had known ahead of time, I would have gotten cash at the ATM.
I had 35 t-​shirts made and gave a reasonable amount of time of two weeks to be produced. The timeline suddenly became an issue. Not sure why. He wouldn’t answer phone calls and then would email me an hour later. I had asked for bleaching rather than normal screen printing and paid extra for it. When I got my shirts they were printed normal screen printing yet I was still charged for bleaching. I told the owner there must have been some mistake, but he told me that in order to get my order on time the printing method had to change. I wasn’t notified of any of this. We didn’t want this type of screen printing because it makes the shirt uncomfortable to wear. No apologies.
Rather than offering to reprint them like I had requested, I had to fight him for a refund on the extra bleaching charge. Very curt and placed the blame squarely on me, like it was my fault I needed them in a couple weeks so I should just accept it for what it is. If you can’t fulfill promises then don’t make them.
I cannot recommend their services. You wouldn’t think that getting a t-​shirt made is a difficult job, but he made it a painstaking, annoying process that required a lot of babysitting.

My band has used them a few times over the past year or so. We have never been disappointed. Their quality and turnaround time are unbeatable for the price. My bandmate and I are a little high maintenance. We ask a lot of questions before we pull the trigger on each of our orders. Brian has always been very patient and communicative. I have ZERO complaints about Progress and recommend them highly to anyone. They also give you a discount if you pay cash. Progress Custom Screen Printing is the best!

These super-​fast and super-​proactive printers saved my life! I needed a quick, small job with a crazy turnaround and Brian and his staff were attentive and professional. I’m told that while there’s usually a 24-​order minimum, being a small, local business, they’re able to react to the needs of last-​minute organization like mine. I was informed through every aspect of the process — from fabric choices to screen preferences — I will definitely be back — anyone that ends a transaction with a hug gets an A in my book. I had a great idea, to have shirts printed up that said «she said yes» with my now fiancés name on the front. This was for my proposal scheduled for the tigers game the next day. The crew was on it. They gave me a fair price especially considering how last second it was. The shirts looked awesome. Now my whole family wants one. Btw she did say yes!

While working for the Dally in the Alley, we were looking to find a print shop that was environmentally friendly and based out of Detroit. I heard about Progress of Design from a friend who went to CCS with the owners, so I checked out their webpage, and shot them an Email.
We’ve been working all summer long with Brian, who has been nothing short of phenomenal. We first went to the shop in June. And whoa what a cool spot they have going! Its basically one huge open room where they prep designs sent to them by customers, burn screens, test papers and inks, run final prints, everything. They used soy based inks, which result in really great looking tees and posters. The tee prints dont crack and fade like your favorite 90s band tee shirt did.
Being totally new to printing in any sense of the word, Brian gave us a ton of options for how we envisioned our final products. He also gave us some feedback for our design and how it would look best on posters/​tees/​bags.
While their shop isn’t in Detroit, everyone who works there lives in the City, so we felt great about giving them our huuuuugje order for the Dally.
These guys are down to earth, know whats up, and are great to work with. Get your design stuff in as quickly as you can, because they soon will no longer be Ferndale & Detroits best kept secret for printing.
