Fillmore Farmers’ Market

Love this farmer’s market. I purchased some gorgeous flowers today as well as some delicious strawberries. I’ve just moved into a new apartment on O’Farrell and I’m so happy to be this close to such a great market!

This farmers’ market takes place every Saturday from 9AM-​1PM. It is easy to get here by Muni 38 or 22. This market is manageable and not too overwhelming. They have a little bit of everything, some bread, samosas, fruits, vegetables, plants, flowers, eggs, fish, nuts, olives, and sometimes they have hot food stands like 1300 Fillmore (love their mushroom grits and shrimp grits — both are must haves!). I went to this market this morning and bought plenty of fruits like blackberries, cherries and rasberries, plus I got some bok choy, tomatoes and squash blossoms — love it all!

This farmer’s market is a delight. It’s held every Saturday morning from 9 to 1. It is located next to Starbucks and across the street from Safeway. The Fillmore Farmer’s Market is small, but has all the essentials: fruit, veggies, nuts, eggs, honey… and of course some treats like smoked salmon, sundries, baked goods, and Indian food. Most of the vendors are reasonably priced. You can walk away without feeling disconcerted with how much you’ve spent on fresh produce (in this case, I’m thinking of every visit I make to the Saturday market at the Ferry Building! Eeep!). The vendors are quite friendly and know the neighborhood well. Like any farmer’s market, I would suggest getting there early to get the best pick and it does start to crowd by 9:30/10.

I’m really glad this Farmers’ Market comes every Saturday! It’s a great place to pick up some fresh and local produce, meat, fish, eggs and other tasty items. Located on O’Farrell street right next to the Fillmore Center this market is awesome! Most of the food is priced well too so you can get your items for a pretty good price and support the farmers in the area =D

This market is a little small, but there are tons of greens, eggs, fruit, and meals here. I was able to get all the greens I wanted for the week for really cheap.

I love this place because of the proximity to my house for basic fruits and veggies. It is small though so doesn’t have a huge selection like the Farmer’s Market at the Ferry Building or the one in Union Square in NYC. There’s at least fish, cheese, flowers, honey, baked goods and Indian spices/​sauces stands. It is only open on Saturdays from 9am-​1pm. If you go close to the closing time, you may get some decent deals as the vendors start slashing prices!

Like most farmer’s market in SF, it opens every Saturday from morning to early afternoon. It’s small, but definitely charming.
My favorite Saturday routine is going to the gym in the morning (one minute walk away from the market), grab an ice latte after and then take a stroll in the market. You can find in season vegetables and fruits, freshly made pastries and cheese, olive oil of many flavors, fresh seafood (butter fish strip is so yummy!), smoked salmon, reasonably priced flowers/​small plants, and much more! My must visit places include the egg stand where you can choose the size, color and quantity of eggs (the guy behind is always so friendly), produce and flower stand that sells $ 2 bundle of flowers, a veggie/​fruit stand near the entrance (mmm juicy tomatoes). On sunny days there’s even live jazz playing near the Fillmore center fountain.
What’s a better way to get your weekly grocery shopping done?

Fillmore’s farmers market is on the side street next to starbux. not many vendors present. (maybe it’s holiday related. veggie/​fruit vendors not more than a dozen. little organics seen. cheap fruits for .75 cents/​lb. bought a few.

This is a cute little farmer’s market. It’s fun to come out here Saturday morning and say hi to your neighbors.
They don’t have a very big selection, but most of the staples (onions, potatoes, in-​season fruit). Unfortunately, I noticed that some of the things aren’t as fresh as you would expect from a farmer’s market. I tried buying my week’s worth of produce like I would at any market, and many of the things started going bad in two days (broccoli, cherries, peaches, etc).
What’s unique about this market is that they also have vendors that sell fresh ravioli, Indian spices, and local cheese. I’ve tried the butternut squash ravioli and really enjoyed it. I’ve tried the cheese, and really liked that too (on pizza, grilled cheese and mac-​n-​cheese). From the Indian spice vendor, I bought one of their packaged tikka masala blends, that you just add cream and water for a thick sauce to pour over your choice of protein or vegetables. It was super easy, but not very satisfying. I’d rather make it from scratch.
I’d probably come back for the community feel and the ravioli, but not much else.

I love farmers markets… especially ones that are located in front of my apartment complex. There’s something fabulous about waking up to the sounds of the vendors and live jazz… city living at it’s best.
Market offers fresh fruits and veggies, variety of flowers (bouquets and small trees), breads, cheese, smoked salmon and even a booth specializing in Indian cuisine. There’s also live jazz in the courtyard… very entertaining.
I’ve walked through the market several times, stopping at each booth and everyone has always been friendly and very helpful. Have a question about something? You’ll get the answer quickly.

Overall…great selection, great prices… I highly suggest you give the Fillmore Farmers Market a try!

This market isn’t as huge as others around the city but you get produce that’s in season at a reasonable price.
My favorite stalls here include the vendors that sell the Asian veggies, fresh orange & pomegranate juices and samosas for 3/​$ 5!
O yeah, there’s a jazz band that plays close to noon until early afternoon.

I like this market a lot. It’s much closer to my apartment than the ferry building and I think the prices are a lot cheaper. Plus, it’s obviously less crowded which makes my shopping faster. It’s only about half a block long, so obviously less selection. But for veggies and fruit, there are multiple stands so you can be a little bit picky.
I come every Saturday to grab my staple veggies for the week. I always grab onions, carrots, tomatoes, zucchini, and some leafy greens. There are stands for eggs, honey, meat and bread as well if that’s your thing.
Plus live music is always nice to have

A great farmer’s market! Lots of variety, from asian veggies and fruits, to smoked salmon, flowers and farm fresh EGGS! I always enjoyed walking to this Farmer’s Market when I used to live down the street. They play live jazz and people sit and listen or even get up and dance!
The market is conveniently located near several bus lines, which make it very accessible. The only issue I have is that the street it is located on is basically a wind tunnel. Other than that, it’s a great event to attend on Saturday mornings. The vendors are all so nice and really take the time to get to know their customers. Part of my favorite thing about shopping here is catching up with my favorite vendors! Prices are good and the quality is always excellent. Love it!

I am continually blown away by the impressive selection of reasonably priced, high-​quality produce on offer along this small stretch of the Fillmore.
It’s one of my favorite places to get vegetables in the city, because there are 2 – 3 vendors that always show up with a great selection. The farmers are super friendly, and on several occasions I’ve scored free extra beet greens that other customers didn’t want.
Love that it’s not too crowded but has a great vibe, and I can pick up my week’s worth of fruit, veggies, eggs, bread and flowers every Saturday. Definitely try to go earlier, because that’s when you get the cream of the crop!

The avocados! The Indian food! The strawberries! The hot dudes! The prices! The LIVE JAZZ!
This is possibly my favorite Farmers’ Market in San Francisco. Is it as huge and frantic and overwhelming as the Embarcadero? No. Which means, of course, a smaller selection and less likelihood that you will have an entire breakfast worth of free samples… but it also means friendly, personable interactions, great prices, a real community feel, and a delightful, family-​friendly atmosphere.
Besides, nothing can beat the joy I get from grooving to the live jazz as I munch on my fresh fruit and play peek-​a-​boo with the giggling baby running around next to me.

The Fillmore Farmers’ Market is the Avis of farmers’ markets in San Francisco — they try harder. Or the little engine that could: «I think I can, I think I can…» They are small but mighty. Mighty cheap compared to the Gaga woo woo Ferry Building Farmers’ Market. Some great value on some great foods, such as asparagus and broccoli (in May), Corn in June, and now the Cucumbers are coming in big.
I might try making pickles.

Solid 4 stars for this market. I’ll add a fifth once they get bigger.
Great prices, passionate vendors and not busy! Everything I buy from here is fresh and full flavoured. It’s a Saturday morning ritual for me now. Try the berry guy (I forget his name but he always says «god bless») and the tomato man. You won’t be disappointed, they really have great product and truly care about their customers. Can’t wait to see the bounty that late summer brings to this market.

Sure, the selection here doesn’t compare to the world-​famous Embarcadero Farmer’s Market, but who wants to deal with hoards of annoying tourists and never-​ending lines on a Saturday morning? I come to Fillmore’s Farmers’ Market for a pleseant change of pace. The one-​block-​long outdoor market includes fresh produce, super-​cheap dozen eggs (Dr. Isaacs knows what I’m talking about!), and authentic Indian foods and spices.
Infinite free samples for breakfast? Yes please!

Not as big as the Ferry Building Farmers’ Market, but has most of things I buy at the Ferry Building without the crowds. I don’t know why I make the bi-​monthly trek to the Ferry Building when I could just go to the Fillmore market most of the time.
Oh wait, I remember now, it’s the pushy Afghan people that somehow always convince me to spend more money than I meant to. Before I walked to that end of the market, I had done a great job of only spending $ 20 for bread, a variety of fruits and vegetables, and cheese — enough for a whole week of nutritious meals. Somehow, after passing that corner, I had bought twice as much stuff. Like other people have noted, their pitch works on almost everyone. It’s like they’ve mastered the Jedi mind trick or something. «You will buy bread AND sauce…»
