Description

Specialties

The best way to describe the menu at Mr. Helsinki Restaurant and Wine Bar is «eclectic fusion.» We serve savory crepes stuffed with everything from a spicy brandy apple pork to chiken and vegetables sauteed in a basil-infused Vodka cream sauce. We also serve a variety of other entrees including our «Bang Bang Chicken», a spicey Thai peanut sauce stir-fry to Alakan Sockeye Salmon marinated in honey, horseradish and soy, pan-seared and served over Green Curry Vegetables.

We have extensive wine menu including over 30 wines by the glass and a Reserve Bottle list with over 45 wines on it.

History

Established in 2001.

Mr. Helsinki Restaurant and Wine Bar was started in the spring of 2001 serving a variety of savory and dessert crepes. The menu has evolved over the 10 years, still offering delicious savory crepes, including a Creole Crawfish crêpe and also a Salmon and Asparagus crêpe, to include entrée’s ranging from Tuna Tataki and shiitake mushrooms marinated and pan-seared in a ginger, orange and shoyu sauce to Kim Chee Fried rice served with grilled shrimp.

The Wine menu offers more than 30 different wines by the glass and also includes a reserve list of over 30 different wines. The wines range from small California winemakers to classic European vineyards.

Meet the Business Owner

Chris C.

Business Owner

Chris has owned Mr. Helsinki for three seasons now, purchasing the restaurant from his brother in 2008. Chris has continued the evolution of the original menu, maintaining some of Mr. Helsinki’s favorite crepes and entrée’s including the Bang-Bang chicken (a Thai influenced peanut stir fry) but also routinely offers new items.

Although Chris had worked in several restaurants over the last 20 years, this is his first venture into ownership. After living on Cape Cod and in Aspen, Colorado, Chris settled in northeastern Wisconsin’s Door County over the last 6 years. Restaurant ownership came after spending the previous 10 years working in the building trades. This past experience has come to play in Mr. Helsinki; last year Chris remodeled the bar area including a new 16′ long Black Wanut bar, offering seating for four more guests over the previous bar.
