Specialties

Locally owned and operated tutoring in math and reading for children K through grade six. All our tutors are former teachers licensed by the state. We create individual learning plans for each child that takes into account their skill needs as well as their preferred learning style. Children are tested at the beginning. If necessary, we can screen for some learning issues.

History

Established in 2012.

j&R Tutoring Academy was founded by two long time friends who are dedicated to ensuring that young students receive the best educational foundation possible. We strongly believe that each child is an individual and needs an individualized education. We created a business model where each instruction is tailored to meet only that student’s needs.

In two short years we have been successful in regularly losing students. A tutoring business that is not able to eliminate the need for tutoring is not doing their job!

If parents request, we will coordinate with teachers. j&R Tutoring Academy assesses each child using a diagnostic tool from an internationally known curriculum development company. With this information we create the individual instructional plan that can be and is altered on a regular basis depending on the student’s progress. Written assessments are done daily and re-​testing every 90 — 120 days.

Meet the Business Owner

Renee S.

Business Owner

Renee is co-​owner and Director of j&R Tutoring Academy of Indiana. She is a graduate of Purdue University, where she met her co-​owner. She also has a Master of Arts degree in Education. Renee is a former teacher, small business owner and also has extensive experience in an educationally based not-​for-​profit. In these capacities she has written and implemented numerous educational programs.

Her goal and the goal of j&R is to find the best approach to each child’s educational experience.
