Mapping Specialists, Ltd. is a world wide cartographic service contractor established in Madison in 1984. We strive to be the first choice for quality, cost-​effective cartographic services and large format map printing, We also lead the way in map retail, product finishing (lamination, mounting, and framing), along with creations of electronic maps, graphics, and animations.

History

Established in 1984.

by the director of the University of Wisconsin cartography laboratory. He had a vision and the ability to see that there was a need in the private sector for map creation. Many things have changed since the beginning years; gone are the days of dark rooms, scribing, and mylar. The computer has revolutionized the map making industry, but in place are the same conceptual concepts of making a quality map, at the most reasonable price for our clients for nearly 30 years!

Business Owner

Dave is a life-​long resident of the Madison area, and received a degree in geography with an emphasis in cartography from the University of Wisconsin-​Platteville. While attending college he gained experience in the mapping industry with Southwest Wisconsin Regional Planning. He started with MSL in 1986 as a cartographer, and subsequently was promoted to Project Manager, Project Estimator, VP of Marketing and Operations, and in 2006 to President. Dave and his wife Brenda purchased Mapping Specialists in January of 2009. Dave enjoys hunting, fishing, and gardening.
