History

Established in 1972.

Flagstaff’s first boarding facility! The facility has gone through extensive upgrades under the current owners (since 2001). We are the first kennel in Arizona that our entire staff recertified under the International Boarding and Pet Services Association and MasterPlan Petcare… the only kennel organizations still offering independent certifications for staff members. In 2013 Cinder Hills became the only kennel in Arizona who met the IBPSA’s stringent requirements and became premier accredited. We have accredited through MasterPlan Petcare, as well. Less than 1% of kennels have ever achieved this designation! You don’t need to take our word on what we do and how we do it… you have an independent 3^rd party who has done that for you! Our staff is also trained in the Day Camp area by The Dog Gurus for off-​leash play, dog language and dog communication. We sit on the Professional Animal Care Certification Council’s Animal Care Provider as well as the Logistics Committees.

Business Owner

Al is a retired nuclear health physicist and chemist. Valorie worked in accounting. Together they own and operate Cinder Hills Kennels. They raised their family at the kennel and now there are two generations actively working the kennel. Our families have a strong history of service in the military and we’re very proud of that. The cornerstone to our kennel is built on honesty, integrity, and transparency. We have also been chosen to work with industry leaders to develop exceptional industry standards and quality training, sitting on the Professional Animal Care Certification Council’s Logistics Committee. We are proud to be a member of the MasterPlan Petcare and Dog Gurus communities!
