History

Established in 2004.

Custom Sound Instruments was established in 2004 by trained luthier Ryan Elewaut. The store began with a vision of the traditional Guitar Shoppe and has evolved into a more modern, multi-​faceted operation. The store is located at 23 South Beaver Street in downtown Flagstaff. Shopping is different these days, and not only in the music world. The big-​box-​store mindset is pervasive. Custom Sound strives to make your experience interactive and inclusive, with personable staff pledged to customer satisfaction before and after the sale.

Business Owner

Ryan Elewaut is a highly experienced restoration & repair luthier, with experience building custom acoustic & electric guitars and basses. He began his obsession with guitar building and repair during high school, which earned him an apprenticeship working at Shade Tree Stringed Instruments under renowned luthier Greg Mirken. He has trained with other great luthiers along the way, including private Taylor warranty training and other specialized courses. Ryan founded Custom Sound Instruments in 2004.
