Hubba Hubba Smokehouse honors the rich Carolina BBQ tradition. Our custom wood-​fired pit brings a robust smoky flavor to all our fare. Our menu features scratch made sauces, classic sides, and special order desserts to be enjoyed in our house or yours.

History

Established in 2007.

Flat Rock’s only general store, Peace’s Grocery, located at the intersection of W. Blue Ridge Road and Hwy 225, closed in the 1980s after nearly 100 years. The closure left a void in the community. The building sat vacant for several years until Starr Teel and Virginia Spiegner, reopened the store in 1990. Virginia opened her store, The Wrinkled Egg, and Starr began baking in the back room of the store. This area now houses the Flat Rock Village Bakery, another fine addition to the area of town now known as Little Rainbow Row. Never one to rest on his laurels, Starr opened Hubba Hubba Smokehouse in 2007 in the back lot of The Wrinkled Egg. It’s Starr’s passion and fascination with the wood-​fire that makes Hubba Hubba what it is today. And Starr caters as well. With the help of a dedicated catering team, Hubba Hubba is perfect for weddings and other events and offers much more than just BBQ.

Our Pitmaster, Starr Teel, is a graduate of Le Cordon Bleu but it’s Starr’s passion and fascination with the wood-​fire that makes Hubba Hubba what it is today. Starr has many years of experience executing large scale banquets and charity events and he brings a solid understanding of what it takes to make an event happen!

For catering planning, Our catering team will listen to your dreams and desires for your event and then make it happen. We have coordinated everything from large banquets celebrating volunteers at non-​profits to rehearsal dinners and exquisite wedding receptions. Our main goal: to exceed your expectations. Our catering team will make your event the talk of the town.
