Great service from the ladies up front. Had curry chicken w/bhagee & pumpkin and buss up! Loved it better than Ali’s. buss up was soft and flaky. Def coming back again.

Roti, aloo pies and doubles are great here. Had the stew chicken meal for $ 5, was fantastic. I’m no expert on Carribbean cooking and how everything SHOULD taste but this is definitely a place you should come out to. Staff is nice and efficient, you’re never waiting on the line long. Bottom line, this place is bangin’. Don’t sleep on it.

Having just moved to the area from Bed Stuy, I had grown used to the prolific Trinidadian spots over there, especially A&A’s and Ali’s. So naturally, when I saw Jen’s Roti sign, my stomach immediately started rumbling for some spicy baked goodness. I entered with doubt, assuming there could be no way I would be lucky enough to find a place nearly as good as A&A’s, but I’ve now been to Jen’s 5 times. I wanted to make sure to try most everything before writing a review, so here it goes. Jen’s is on point! Their doubles are absolutely sinful and amazing. 2 fried flat breads with chickpeas(or whatever else you desire) inside, for those not familiar. Not only are the doubles perfectly sweet and savory, but their channa(chickpeas) are cooked to perfection, with a slight firmness that’s important as chickpeas are often overcooked by many places, into a mushy and sloppy mess. It should be noted that they also offer meaty doubles as well, with Chicken, Goat, Shrimp and other fleshy treats. As for their signature roti sandwich, those are also amazing! I tried the vegetable roti and was surprised at the variation of veggies included; spinach, okra, string beans, corn, cabbage, pumpkin, potato, channa and more! All veggies were cooked and seasoned perfectly, and the roti bread itself was soft, slightly flaky and bursting with flavor. Their pepper and tamarind sauces pack quite a punch as well, so don’t half step by forgetting to get things spiced up! The Aloo pie(fried with with potato inside) is one of the best I’ve had anywhere, and though they don’t seem to have bakes on their menu, I’ve found their aloo pies serve as a nice substitute for the bakes I often ordered at A&A’s, especially when you add some veggies(or meat for those who prefer that). I recommend an ordering an Aloo pie with pumpkin and spinach, with pepper and tamarind! Their pholourie is fantastic as well! Unlike many other places, they give you the tamarind and/or pepper sauce on the side instead of throwing it in the bag with the pholourie, which helps keep it fresh without getting things too soggy by the time you get home and dig in. For anyone not familiar with pholourie, they are little fried balls of dough that are eaten with sweet and spicy tamarind sauce drizzled on top. Amazing! Overall, Jen’s is the jam. I’ll be frequenting this authentic Trinidadian joint for quite some time as long as I’m living in this area, and I would say it’s well worth a special trip for those who aren’t from the neighborhood.

We spent 2 full years on the island of Grenada. I had never tried a chicken roti in my life before that. by the time I left the island I was addicted. unfortunately, no where else besides the caribbean, can you find a roti that has the same flavor, roti skin, the whole package. jen’s has solved my problem. go check it out. the summer heat, no ac, caribbean music and slightly aloof customer service are truly authentic. I felt like I was back on the island for a minute(minus the turquoise water). my wife got the«shark» nuggets, which I was very skeptical of, but they were really good too.

I love they’re food. If you are carribean you will appreciate the island flavor. I always stop in for a «chicken doubles» or some«buss up shot» sooooo good!
