We love Beer! We have 20 beers on tap and many of them change all the time. We are constantly looking for new and sometimes unusual beers to give you more beer enjoyment. We use beer in some of our food, including our homemade clam chowder, our hand-​dipped fish & chips, and our awesome house salad dressing.

History

Established in 1936.

The Beachcomber has been around since 1936 and is one of the oldest business’ in town. There’s been a number of owners and a few different names throughout the years. It’s changed a lot … from the rough and tough days when loggers and fishermen tried to share the same bar, to a nice pub today with great food, a nice craft beer selection, and awesome people.

Best clam chowder and clam strips in Florence.
We love the awesome clam chowder and clam strips here!
We will drive from Eugene to Florence for lunch when we crave this meal!
Better then the place across the street that boasts the best chowder in Oregon.
Plus this bar had local favor and is comfortable. The beer and cocktail list is great. They have a shuttle board game, decent sized tv’s and lotto.

Just about an hour ago my wife ordered lunch for takeout on the phone all with good people were polite got it home I had the Inferno burger it was so raw it moved when I bit into it my wife fish platter so under cooked the dough was still mushy raw never again I hate McDonald’s I hate the thought of McDonald’s but I’ll go there first

We eat here even when it is not the Rhody weekend. They have great drinks, and great food. This weekend since it is the Rhody it is the happening spot, and great music with a wonderful live band! The place is so full I am sure it is almost to capacity. It is shoulder to shoulder. When it is a regular day it is quiet, and easy to get a seat. Love this place!

My kind of low key, local pub. Great atmosphere, dive-​bar-​ish. Lots of happy friendly locals here; it appears to be the go to place, at least in the off season. 20 beers on tap. I had the spinach salad with warm bacon dressing — loved it! Great service, nothing negative to say about Beachcombers.

This local dive is far from where to find a good meal. Greasy burgers and sandwiches with little care in either presentation or taste. If you are on a budget, go to McDonalds for a better burger.

Ended off NYE at this neat little bar in town. The décor was pure PNW and the patrons were a good mixture of locals and tourists. Everyone got a glass to toast in the New Year before the countdown. The service was also prompt and friendly. Stop and admire the doors by the restrooms. I felt like a state park ranger. On top of that, I lost my makeup bag there at a certain point of the night and was convinced is was gone forever. Since we were leaving town the next morning (NYD) I figured they’d be closed and everything would have to be replaced. Not a good feeling. On a whim, JL called and said it was returned. Here’s the real kicker: Everything was accounted for and intact! Thank you, Beachcomber staff!

This is a bar, pool tables, lit up by TV screens and mostly men drinking beers in the morning. Still, we found that this joint had an unassuming charm for their kick ass breakfast. We ordered the homemade biscuits and gravy, and the most perfectly delicate vegetable omelet with hash. After a few days of living on freeze dried camp food, anything would have been better, but this was more than we bargained for.
21+, awesome staff, great food, inexpensive, near the dock.

Incredible selection of beers on tap and expertly prepared seafood in a casual bar setting. i recommend the Oyster Shooters, Manila Clams in a garlic wine broth and the Bay Shrimp Salad. I filled a growler with Ballast Point Grapefruit Sculpin for $ 8. Bring your growler and fill up for cheap. Great place, friendly staff and a great location.

Had the clam chowder and the buffalo wings which were very good indeed.
However my friends had the mahi mahi fish tacos and by both accounts were not eatable. Flavours were all out of whack and the use of the tuna loin was interesting rather than using the steak of fillet.
Service was good, food Average and hence the 3⁄5. I would go again, with my choice from the menu though don’t think my friends will be so keen.

My s/​o and I have stopped in here a few times heading to or from the coast. It seems like a place that has a lot of regulars, but the bartenders are always incredibly friendly and attentive when we come in.
I’m a huge fan of the atmosphere of this place. It’s tiny, but they have some really cool and unique things to look at and talk about in there. The menu is awesome. Even if you don’t order any food (which we’ve yet to), it’s just a fun read. Their beer selection is really great. I would definitely recommend stopping in for a drink or a brew!

My husband and I wanted a relaxing place to drink some beers. We stepped in and immediately felt welcomed. Great service by the sweetest server we ever met. Lots of beer choices and very cool beer tap handles all over the place. Fried greenbeans with the slightly spicy dip sauce were delicious. The hamburger my husband ate was the best we have tried in a long time. The Asian chicken salad I had was also perfect. Light and flavorful dressing made the salad. I would definitely come back here next time we make it to Florence. Best server ever and great food.

This was our first time at the Beachcomber and as far as I’m concerned it will be my last.
The food was good, but the service wasn’t.
We opted for the breakfast menu and all ordered an egg dish of one kind or another with hash browns. The consensus was that the eggs were good and outside of the stuffed hash browns; the regular ones were okay.
We arrived before half a dozen people and were promptly forgotten about by our server. Everyone around us ordered and thusly received their food before us. I don’t mind having extra visit time with my family when I’m down on vacation; but paying money to be forgotten about? I do have an issue with.
In the end the food was good and perhaps our experience was unique; so take what you will out of my review.

Excellent food and 20 microbrews on tap. Mac and cheese sandwich with tatertots are my favorite so far. They make their own buns for their burgers. Service is a little slow but i find that to be par for the course in oregon. Beers switch out frequently which is nice. Doesnt look like much from outside but certainly one of my favorites in old town.

Driving from Texas to Portland for a conference, decided to sightsee along the Oregon coast. Florence, Oregon is lovely.
Although our budget was slim, we chose the fancy place only to find the tavern across the street, Beachcomber had same delicious items. Lower price too. Slightly lower, though much much more relaxed atmosphere. We had nothing but a positive feeling about the place.
Perhaps business is suffering and staff is tired of the riffraff. For who knows why, Robert, the manager on duty, was entirely surly to us. Customer service severely lacking. We will NOT be back unless it’s all that’s open. Scott Waiss, hire better than Robert.

Homemade food made to order, what could be better than that? The food is such homey, comfort food. It is clearly made with love! The staff are also wonderful people who have quick jokes and make you feel welcome. In addition, the staff are beer gurus and you tell them what you like and don’t like and I guarantee they will pour you a beer you’ll love. I cannot say enough good things about this place.
Stellar staff, plus an impressive beer list, and super high quality food makes this place a must if you are in Florence, Oregon. Oh, and make sure you get dessert, you will regret it if you miss it!

Hey! Great food and service… until…Make sure if you leave your purse on your chair, phone on the table and husband there while you check on your dogs in the car… That you TELL THE BAR TENDER! Because she will get all the people to give you endless shit asking you if you are going to pay your tab. Gone for two minutes across the street petting my dogs and literally left my purse and phone and HUSBAND at the table… Got an endless litany of crap from patrons when I came back. Thank you for ruining my experience.
Oh. They also heckled my husband and I as we left. «You actually pay up?» I walked across the road for two minutes people. Absolutely AWFUL experience.
