The Windmill Winery

We came here for a wedding and it was just beautiful. The barn was nicely decorated and well ventilated. The cocktail hour was delicious and the wedding was warm but at least we were not facing the sun. Overall it was a very beautiful venue. We have one in california very similar and seems to run smoothly since they do many special events there.

Beautiful place but was looking for a nice place for us adults to go wine tasting and enjoy the nice weather and a group of people came with about 7 young children. They ran around our table and other tables screaming and climbing on everything. We left because of the disturbance. Would not go back.

I was there this week for a ladies lunch. There were approximately 30 women. The salads were fresh and the sandwiches top notch.
The servers were extremely patient and accommodating.
We are looking forward to returning for dinner with our husbands.

Our experience at the Winery was incredible. We booked the barn for our daughter’s wedding 11 months prior to the event, and the staff made it a very easy process. Yes, it’s pricy but all wedding venues are. With a full array of vendors to choose from and an excellent coordinator (thanks Whitney!), it took all of the stress out of the wedding day which is really what matters. I almost downgraded to four stars because we changed coordinators two months prior to the wedding. Whitney was so incredible coming in to take the role, she earned the 5^th star for this review. My daughter had the wedding of her dreams at a great place. Well done.

Did the Dionysus Dash here and had a blast! Although I was here primarily for a 5K run in which we got to indulge in the winery tastings post-​run (love their Cab!), the location and scenery are gorgeous! Really surprised me since you really don’t hear a lot about Florence, AZ. The Windmill is a beautiful place to stop in for a wine tastings and they also do weddings!

I do not regret choosing my wedding venue at the Windmill Winery! We have spent several hours researching for venues that were in the Phoenix area that depicts the dream rustic chic wedding I wanted. We went to a few venues and never got the «wow» factor in any of them.
Driving to this venue was a pain — don’t get me wrong. You feel like you are driving in the middle of nowhere because well, you are. However, right when you set foot in the property, it’s like a different world. It’s beautiful, it’s charming, it’s rustic, it’s calming, it’s everything I wanted!
They show you the property and there is a tasting room, and two different venues: the lake and the barn. What I believe was a huge perk was the fact that they have packages! You can choose to use the DJ services, the cake vendors and the caterers they have partnered with which I thought helped relieve the stress on my part. They also give you a wedding coordinator with your package! They were so easy to work with, very responsive, and my wedding turned out to be the dream wedding I’ve always wanted!
Now, there were a few hang ups here and there, but I would pick Windmill again in a heartbeat! All my guests loved the venue and we received so many compliments! We even had some tell us it was the best wedding they have ever attended! Wow.

Love them! Recently had my summer wedding here and it was perfect. The staff was amazing, the décor was beautiful. We all had a blast and we got so many compliments on a beautiful venue. Karen was the easiest person to work with and always had an answer to my questions. I highly recommend this venue !

The Windmill Winery is truly an oasis in the desert. To be fair: I did work here, but can honestly say that I loved where I worked. Where else in this area can you sit on a dock and eat lunch? The owners care deeply about every client, and work 7 days a week to ensure that they have that dream wedding they always wanted. The same can be said for all the employees. I miss my work family.

The windmill winery is a beautiful place for the wedding. My daughter Crystal was
just married at the windmill in April 2015. I would recommend Something old and Something new, the florist designs by Kathy she is amazing. The only down fall was their DJ, they use a vendor
that is part of the package… His name was Wil, one of the few that they use. He did a terrible
job as a DJ. He was not prepared. We asked for several songs to be played on a list given
to him, only 3 songs that were part of the wedding actually were played. He was given a
video to play before the groom and bride entrance, and you could not hear it and
he tried to redo it 3 times, it was a disaster, and the sound system for the reception, the
speakers also had some static. Even though everything about the wedding went well
this was still a hugh problem when you spend $$$$$$$$ you want it to be right for
the perfect day. If I had to do it over I would find my own DJ… So I have to give the winery
a low rating because this vendor is part of their package.

I had a friend get married here last night. What a beautiful place. HOWEVER, there was a salmanila episode from a wedding they had on March 19^th, that’s over two weeks ago, that left 22 people very ill! So what happened to my friends wedding? Well 30 minutes before she is supposed to walk down the isle they tell her they can not serve and food or drinks to her guests!!! Yes, you read that right! The reception of her dreams in the bug barn of her dreams was not going to be able to happen.
The team did however to a very great job of managing to move the whole wedding to a restraunt down the road to serve the food, and converted the patio into their dance floor.
I am glad that she had an amazing photographer and DJ that accommodated her move right along with her and helped move table and decorations and so much more.
I am very disappointed and saddened that this happened and that the bride did not know sooner. All I know is she better be getting ALL OF HER MONEY BACK!

My husband and I were recently married at The Windmill. We chose the Big Barn venue and we booked around 10 months ahead of our wedding date. We were so pleased with the value, the quality of service, the food, the DJ, etc. I’m getting ahead of myself so let me break this down…
First and foremost, my husband and I were coming down from Alaska to be married at The Windmill. We knew we wanted to have our wedding somewhere around the Phoenix area and we were willing to travel a little further to get what we wanted out of our wedding. This is my first and only wedding, however, I almost feel guilty for how easy and fun it really was.
Price: If you want to have a thrifty yet big wedding, this is the place. If you look at their pricing documents you can chose a date (or day of the week) that will save you a few dollars. When we were in planning mode, my husband and I were looking at booking a cheap venue, renting all the services separately, and doing most of the work ourselves. Not only was this venue ASTONISHINGLY low-​priced compared to the 20K all-​inclusive venues back in Phoenix, but it is completely up to you what you’d like to pay for. We booked an extra hour at the venue for the end of the night, we added a bon fire, we did appetizers before dinner and brought out «second appetizers» later in the night after people started dancing and drinking and having a good time, we opted for a hosted bar and added a few of their supplied decorations. Even though we went «all out» with the extras, we still payed a fraction of what we would have paid in Phoenix, even if we did most of the work ourselves.
Recommended vendors: The only recommended vendor we didn’t use was their photographers. The caterer (Kiss the Chef), the DJ (Joel w/​Elagant Ent.), the horse and carriage drivers, the florist (Sarah’s Gardens), the bakery (Lesley’s Creative Cakes) had obviously worked together numerous times and they do it seamlessly. They all know what is allowed at the venue and what is not, they all know where one person’s job ends and another person’s job begins, they know how to get to the venue and they know when they need to leave. When it came to the wedding day I had absolutely nothing to do but enjoy myself, my new husband, and my guests.
The planner: I was assigned a wedding planner who works for the venue as part of the package deal with The Windmill. If it were an optional thing I probably never would have asked for it but I am so glad they didn’t give me the option. Karen started working with me a few months before the wedding to make sure I met all their deadlines for deposits and decisions (like what extras we wanted and how we wanted to do the bar). She knew that we were travelling from a long ways away so she met with us (and I’m pretty sure it was her day off) to give us a tour of the venue a few days before the wedding. We did the tour in lieu of a wedding rehearsal because nobody was in town yet but I truly appreciated it. Karen made sure everyone was where they needed to be, when they needed to be there. She took care of the walking order for the ceremony, she made sure my husband and I ate during the reception, and she made sure all the vendors had their questions answered so nobody had to bother Brian or myself. Simply put, she was AMAZING.
What they don’t tell you: Some of the most pleasing things I found on the grounds weren’t advertised. There was a small playground area for kids near the barn. I was happy that there was a place for them to go blow off some steam before the ceremony. There were lots of little details around too, like old tractors and farming equipment. There were even a couple donkeys and roosters which only added to the magic of the venue.
I will go back and visit this place whenever I can. I’ll go sit in the tasting room or have a sandwich if they’re serving lunch. I would have spent a whole week there if they had a place to sleep on site. I absolutely loved The Windmill and I think everyone who gets married in the area should consider it!

We had the Lake house at the Windmill Winery and it was a gorgeous venue. A true oasis in the desert of AZ. They were extremely flexible in that they allowed us to alter some of the payment times so we could pay just a little later than they usually allow, which really made this wedding possible. Some things to note:
–I found out the day before the wedding the coordinator I was communicating with the whole time would not be there the day of. That was strange and made me feel uncomfortable, but her replacement was wonderful. I could have done without the worry, but all in all it went well.
–I don’t know if this was the Windmill or the caterer, Kiss the Chef’s, fault, but there was a huge mix up in that I wasn’t put down as a client for the caterer! This was a huge stress.
–My coordinator was very slow to respond to some of my emails, and I would send multiple ones sometimes before I got a response. At least one was never responded to at all.
All in all, amazing venue, full of beauty and charm. I would recommend it to any bride who wants their wedding day to be a dream come true.

I got married here on 02÷20÷15. Venue was the arches and reception was in the big barn. My fiancé and I fell in love with this venue as soon as we stepped foot into the property. We were sold that day and did not even bother to look at another venue. The staff was great and super helpful throughout the planning process and our wedding coordinator, Shauna was great. We went with gold star catering and ellagant entertainment. We got so many compliments on how great the food and DJ were. The day was absolutely perfect and there is not one thing I could find to complain about. My husband and I keep talking about how perfect the day was and every guest we have spoken with after the wedding had gushed about how much they loved the venue and how perfect the wedding was. I could not be happier. I’m almost sad the day is done and over with :0(. We will be visiting the windmill again and again just to enjoy some of their delicious wines and delicious dinners available Thursday’s. Great job Windmill. Thank you so much for such a beautiful wedding!

Catching up on my reviews from recent adventures! I had company in town from Cali so the natural thing to do is find a great winery up close to Phoenix right? So I this one is a bit out of the way and the drive out there is a bit daunting. From the website you would never know this is literally 4 blocks outside of downtown Florence. It really is more of a wedding venue than a true winery. Went on a Friday afternoon. Got there and there was no staff to let us know how to get around the place, just a lot of little wooden signs. There was a big group who had rented out the place for lunch so that’s where everyone was. Once I found the tasting room there was only one staff member to do tastings, give you info, and serve the party so if she was busy you were a bit lost. I never got any info on the place and there wasn’t much available to find on my own. Although the wine tasting was cheap ($ 5 for 3 tastes) most of the wine wasn’t from the area. I went through the bottles in my own that were on the counter to find out which ones were actually from the winery itself (or even AZ).
It was peaceful and cozy but unlike a tasting room you would be used to. Had a good adventure with company but I would travel out of your way unless you were going to a wedding.

Our nephew had his wedding here and it was Perfectly Perfect! So Beautiful! This little Prison town is so deceptive! but we are not discussing the town but the venue. All I can say is Oh My Gosh! It’s like I don’t know what to say if you live in Phoenix its only an hour drive. (we live in San Diego so we had to stay in the town of Florence in the Holiday Inn which was– so way better than expected) If you decide to get married here you and your guests will not be disappointed! They had their reception in the Barn which had beautiful lights strung– it was like Disneyland at Christmas. Everyone we talked to just LOVED it!

Absolutely astounding venue for both weddings and social gatherings! The staff here is both friendly and informative. The grounds are beautiful and full of adventure. Watch out for the smaller donkey, he is friendly but if you pet him, he wont let you stop. Even if that means a friendly nip! I am a dark wine fellow, I like bold taste. So if you like smokey wine, try the Dutchman’s Bold, it’ll give you hair on your chest. Over all I recommend the experience of driving down, trying the wines, and asking Karen for a history lesson. She is the pretty one with the golden hair.

I was very disappointed. I found this establishment on Unilocal as I needed a good halfway point between Tucson and Phoenix for a date. I thought a winery would be an excellent choice and made plans to go there. I called ahead of time to ensure they were open and I got a recording that stated they were open Saturday 11 – 4. I left a message just to be sure and asked them to call back as I was driving a considerable distance to meet there. I did not receive a call back but after checking the website and calling again the day of everything said they’d be open so I went down from Phoenix. I arrived to find the gates closed and chained but there were people walking around so I parked and tried calling again but there was no answer. I found an opening in the fence and went in to inquire if they hadn’t unlocked yet. I was told they were closed for the summer and they don’t know why I hadn’t gotten a call back. They suggested that we could come back Sunday as they had a wedding scheduled. I don’t know if that meant they wanted us to crash the wedding or if they were opening for that day because they would already be there.

Writing this review as a guests point of view. We recently attended a wedding here in April and really enjoyed ourselves.
The bride and groom were both vegan and as such wished to serve a vegan menu. I was skeptical at first, but was very pleasantly suppressed with both he food and the cup cakes that were served.
The backdrop was stunning in both the wedding and the reception, and the cocktail hour even had some neat lawn games to play while the wedding party was taking photos. There was a small jungle gym area for the smaller children to keep busy with as well, which ended up being a life saver for our 2 year old niece.
We did not have much interaction with the staff other then the DJ who was entertaining, and did a good job keeping the party going thru-​out the evening.
Would be happy to attend another wedding here in the future.

I got married here this last weekend 9÷7÷13 and not only is it a beautiful venue, the owners and our coordinator Shauna were great! We had such a fun time and people were telling us the whole night just how beautiful the venue was! Highly recommend if you want a fairy tale kind of wedding with horse drawn carriage

Charming «Midwest» establishment in the middle of the desert. If you are ever in town visiting Florence, AZ then you must stop by for a stroll at the Windmill Winery.
Wine tasting is $ 10 and is inside a renovated, old-​fashioned horse stable. There’s marble counter tops and old antiques strewn about.
They’ve also recreated a brick aqueduct that spans the length of a man-​made pond they have also put in on property.
The owners have really put a lot of time, money, and design into this place to attract tourists and wedding parties.
