Louis Armstrong’s Wonderful World

We had a nice time at the second annual (2015) fest, despite the gloomy weather. We arrived about 3 hours in (missed the first 2 sets — Antibalas 12:30 PM & Shannon Powell’s Traditional All-​Star Band 1:50 PM) and reailzed — as we’d expected — that tickets were unnecessary if you didn’t need to get a close look at performers but just wanted to enjoy the music (Rebirth Brass Band 3:10 PM, Ozomatli 4:45 PM, Ms. Lauryn Hill 6:30 PM — events started more or less on time, except Miss Hill, who started nearly 45 minutes late, just in time for a downpour). Security was pretty much nonexistent and only present at the ticketed entrance to the main stage (where tickets were free, but as aforementioned, far from crucial). Food trucks were fewer than listed on the site and the signs around the grounds, and lines got long (and seating hard to score). Note: the indoor beer garden and other Queens Museum and Queens Theatre events all require paid admission, not just ID, which wasn’t mentioned explicitly anywhere.
