Does anyone have an update as to where the vendors moved to? I was a big fan of their scallion pancakes :(

AA Plaza is a place where everyone has AA size boobies. I mean AA size batteries. So if you need some, this is where you come. In fact it has meat on a stick but I’m lying. Because it has nothing. Because it closed down :( The second-to-last time my brother and I were in New York City together we came here for meat on a stick. He absolutely loved it. I thought it was decidedly mediocre. A total difference of opinion, but since I’m the Unilocaler, I get to rate it, and it scores a 3 from me. However, since he loved it, I’m leaving this little review to say, please open up again to make my brother happy. I see that several other Unilocalers have left reviews asking them to open up again so I’m adding my voice to that crowd. They were nice people and they had dirt cheap one dollar meats on a stick of all sorts. Very cool. The most recent time we came to NYC together(last summer) he wanted this food again so we went looking for it, and to our dismay, found that it was long gone. By the way, Xinjiang(a cart) is open and is nearby and also has $ 1 meat sticks, although they may be slightly more by now. And those are 5⁄5 meat sticks by both my reckoning and my brother’s reckoning. So give those a try. And if you drink too much from that plaza with all the Liquor stores, then you should probably go to AA Plaza instead. My name is Fox, and I’m a Unilocalaholic.

I came here for once a week for about a year, sometimes more often. It was the most authentic Chinese/Taiwanese street food you could get! Steamed Pork Buns. I believe they were 4/$ 1.25…where the hell else can you get a small lunch for $ 1!!! These were delicious and did not get anymore authentic! Fish Balls onna-stick. $ 1…balls-onna-stick… Scallion Pancakes… Tea Eggs! 3/$ 1 —-if you don’t know Flushing, you don’t know what this is NY! I loved the fact that it was under a bridge, and probably never passed a health inspection. I never got sick, and always walked away happy! Park illegally or keep driving. Open up again! You were a staple to the community!!!

They had THEBEST lo mein in the world. Fresh, perfectly seasoned and the portion size was worth every penny.

I cannot believe this placed closed down. I guess it’s really been that long since I’ve been in the Flushing area. These little stands reminds me of the time I was in Hong Kong. I’m pretty sure this place wasn’t exactly the cleanest, despite their A rating, but the foods were cheap and it’s something to munch on when you’re on the run! Now, the only other place I can think of to get hot steamy buns, scallion pancakes, and fried dumplings is Zhu Ji Dumpling Stall(which is another hole in the wall in flushing located across the street from Starbucks, and next to the parking lot). I must warn you though, they are not very nice to those who do not speak mandarin. R.I.P. AA Plaza.

Sadly. AA plaza is closed and will never re-opened again. This place was the best bargain ever in flushing. I have heard that the space will be used to add stairs for lirr. I know flushing is not the cleanest place but I am not into all the big new building that will drive the mom & pop places out of business and prices will go up as a result. AA, You will be missed.

*** AA Plaza has closed permanently because the MTA kicked them out(they want to renovate the LIRR Flushing Station).*** My entire family has been loyal customers for a long time now. I actually just learned that this place has a name and that it’s called AA Plaza. For the longest time, I referred to it as «bridge food» because it’s located underneath the LIRR Main St station. This is a Chinese food stand that sells absurdly really good grub for not a lot of money. For $ 1, you can have a decent sized serving of lo mein. For $ 1.50, you can have 4 fist sized helping of steamed pork buns. For $ 1, you can have scallion pancake. For $ 1, you have a curried fish ball skewer(4 pieces per skewer). For less than $ 2, you can also get spring rolls and fried chicken. You’re probably wondering«What? Chicken at a Chinese food stand?» Well, hold your horses– they cook a mean fried chicken! Only vegans wouldn’t find it delicious and satisfying. Talk about value meal here– I highly suggest ditching McDonalds, Burger King an Popeyes and get more for your buck here.

Great stand for cheap eats. I got four pork buns for $ 1.25, which were very tasty. Note: Despite them calling this«xiao long bao,» it is actually regular buns. 3.5 stars

CHEAPCHEAPCHEAP I seriously thought I was in China. You have this place selling Pork Buns, Noodles, Fish Balls, Spicy Tofu, Corn on one side while right across this place, merchants are selling bootlegged DVDs of Chinese and Korean movies and TV shows lol I was hungry and I had only $ 5 and was too lazy to head over to the ATM at Duane Reade’s or Chase Bank so after I saw the prices here, decided to give it a try!!! MENU: Spicy Fish Balls $ 1 Spicy Fish Tofu $ 1 Green Bean Congee $ 1 Tea Egg 3 for $ 1 Small Steamed Bun 4 for $ 1.25 Scallion Pancake $ 1 Coke(they don’t have DIETCOKE) $ 0.75 Chicken Drum Sticks 2 for $ 1.50, ea $ 1 I got the following: Spicy Fish Balls: You get 4 fish balls on a skewer. They were not bad and had a kick. I liked them but I never NOT liked Fish balls in my life lol Scallion Pancake: It was ok. Probably 95% of the pancake was dough while scallions consisted only 5% of the pancake lol It’s quite heavy but nevertheless acceptable Chicken Drum Sticks: These were HUGE!!! Lots of meat and tasty stuff. But I wonder if they’re really chicken or Squab(domestic pigeon meat) Prices are definitely UNBEATABLE and really not a bad place to grab a quick and cheap meal if you plan on spending more money on drinking than on food on a weekend night out lol Would come back in the winter for some steamed pork buns and noodles.

This place is CHEAP, and I mean it in a good way! And since I’m placing a heavy emphasis on the price and speed you can get your food here, I’m giving it 5 stars! Where else can you get 2 drumsticks for $ 1.50 along with a 16 oz cup of iced milk tea for $ 1.25, bringing your entire lunch price to $ 2.75? The drumsticks are fresh and the skin is crispy. They also provide a bottle of sriracha(hot) sauce for you to add if you want. Not in the mood for chicken? Then maybe get 4 steamed pork buns for only $ 1.25 or the giant scallion pancake for only $ 1. Granted, the scallion pancake isn’t crispy(I like crispy) but it’s still good. This place is awesome and quick if you want to just grab a fast bite for cheap, but be warned, there are no seats, or tables or anything like that. Well, there sort of is… their serving windows have a stainless table under them, but I don’t think it’s there for customers to be eating. Run across the street and sit by the library steps or something, or else go home with your food quickly to eat it, before it gets cold. Me personally, I grabbed my drumsticks today, ate them while standing to the side, and then when I finished, ordered my tea and drank it. I only have so many hands to work with. :-) Next time I go back, I plan on trying their noodles and also their mei fun(thin rice noodles). And mark my words, I plan on going back for sure!

The BEST Fried Chicken LEG!!! Enough said. Must try. $ 1.50 for 2 legs lol ***Always tender, crispy, flavorful, delicious, scrumptious, amazing! A consistantly GOOD chicken leg is hard to find nowadays and I FOUNDIT! Note: The noodles are good too. Full of flavor but kinda oily though. It definitely goes well with the chicken legs! AA Plaza is located underneath the bridge on Main St. It is similar to a hole in the wall but not quite… not an actual restaurant either. I feel bad for the workers inside the cramped area, especially in the Summer time. Props to them for making yummy food for us in all four seasons! CHEAPSMALLEATSFORREAL!

It’s cheap here but the food here is only mediocre at best. The steamed buns used to be better when it had more filling. I think they are skimping now. Eating pork steam buns with near no pork is disappointing. 4 or $ 1.25. Hey at least they are not as greasy as the fried ones. Other customers will push you out of the way if you are not fast enough and aggressive enough. I find that barbaric though. I hate that kind of establishment where they encourage and reward you for being barbaric. Can I do it, sure. Is it a good way to behave to buy something, NO. It’s underneath the LIRR rails so. makes me wonder how clean it is. It’s outdoor street food so there will be no tables or chairs for you to enjoy your food.

The only thing I get from this lil hut is the rice rolls. They run out each day so get there relatively early if you don’t want to get disappointed. I usually get it with all of the sauces which are I think soy, peanut and sriracha. Everything else — not too fussed about getting! If you don’t have much money and want a filling meal for about 2 bucks, this is the place to go.

You can literally walk by here and get snack food with out even stopping. Have your money in hand as you approach, look for an open window and call out your order; «One box of pork buns!» Hand your $ 1.25 to the lady with your left hand while grabbing the bag with your right. By the end of the block you are done and want to turn around for another grab & go! Maybe curry fishballs on a stick, chicken on a stick, scallion pancakes or fun(wide noodles). Most of the time it is very crowded in front of AA Plaza and you’ll have to wait on line; if you can figure out where is the line. Tip– food is average but cheap.

Only two things should ever be under a bridge: Alligators and trolls. But this stone bridge(more like a miniature tunnel) that covers AA Plaza has some of the cheapest eats in Flushing. Pros : Pork buns(4 for $ 1.25) Scallion Pancakes(It is crack especially if you get it with that tangy, sweet soy sauce… OMFG. Don’t know if they offer it but don’t try without it.) Some other soup varieties Convenience(it is right next to the LIRR Flushing Station). Cons : Location(it is a very narrow sidewalk and heavy foot traffic area = random elbow jabs from strangers). Smokers alley way(I don’t know why smokers congregated in this narrow space but they do. I don’t dislike smokers I just dislike when you smoke and I’m choking on second handed smoke. Not cool. It is like drinking someone else’s drink with backwash…) Other food options(if you are picking up a quick bite this is the place for you. If you are expecting a wonderful experience you are sadly mistaken) No Parking ANYWHERE(This isn’t like you can stand your car for a brief second, hop out and order to go. You will get a ticket and your meal will end up being 40 – 50 bucks more. Not worth the risk. If you are a pedestrian then go for it.)

This was my go to quick breakfast during my stay in Flushing. Food here is absolutely cheap. A heaping bowl of lo-mein sets you back $ 1.25. 4 mini hum-baos — $ 1.25 please. You can also get $ 1 sticks of fishball, chinese sausage, or tofu soaked in spicy broth. If that wasn’t enough, they have an assortment of congee for $ 1.25. 2 Chicken Drumsticks for $ 1.50. $ 1 for a pretty large sized Chinese Scallion Pancake. In the 4 days that I was here, I’ve managed to try everything on the menu. My favorites are definitely the $ 1 sticks, you can’t go wrong with any of them. The Chinese Scallion Pancake was also good but it has to be eaten hot. It gets pretty tough and chewy if left at room temperature after a few hours(12 hours in my case), came back after taking a day trip to Philadelphia only to find the pancake really chewy, I still ate it with my $ 1 Meat Skewers from Xinjiang BBQ Cart.

The best place in Flushing to get some cheap and tasty Chinese street food. It’s located under the LIRR underpass. There is no seating, so you will need to take it go or stand and eat it(the steps of the library are nearby though). You can get dumplings, fried rice, steamed fun, fish balls, tea eggs, scallion pancakes, lo mein, fried chicken drumsticks, spring rolls, and more. Yes, the food can be a bit greasy, because it is supposed to be greasy!

It’s difficult to be tough on businesses that specialize in $ 1 street food. Dropped by the other day looking for a cheap fix, and since I couldn’t score any crack, I hit up AA Plaza. Long window with menu overhead covers the 15 foot walkup storefront with 5 employees furiously trying to keep up with the throngs of passersby that stop for a quick bite. The spicy fish balls on a stick are a hit. Slightly spicy and quite tasty. Scallion pancakes were a little too doughy for my tastes and didn’t have a ton of flavor. I’d miss this one. Pork buns for $ 1.25 are a «pricey» item on the menu and not amazing, but at that price along with everything else on the menu is such a steal that you can do no wrong here. Great snack spot.

Alright, there is something about Flushing food that taste absolutely amazing. Maybe it’s the authenticity. I walked by and saw fish balls for $ 1 and chicken for $ 1 for 2. Can’t pass up on that since I love street food. There always seems to be a line here so be patient and make sure you’re actually on a line. The spicy fish balls are addicting, there’s only 4 on a stick but they are bigger and plumper! The fried chicken drums are crazy good, maybe it was the fresh batch she just fried and dumped on the plate but nonetheless, the skin was crunchy and the meat was ultra moist! After looking at the other photos, I need to come back here and taste the other food they serve.
