Astoria Federal Savings & Loan Assn

It is a neighborhood bank, but they never really remembered me or anyone I know that frequents here. That was weird. They don’t really fall out of standard with the other Astoria Federal Banks that I’ve visited, but I finally had to leave.
1) bad hours.
2) poor rates.
3) supposed to be a neighborhood friend but they never showed any neighborly favors.
I wonder what new bank will take over someday. Probably a TD bank (good hours, good rates and they give out free pens.)

sometimes, you scratch your head and wonder, ‘how the heck does this establishment even stay in business?’
that same thought applies to this Astoria Federal. Terrrrible banking hours. From Monday –Thursday it closes at 3. 3 freakin’ pm. I normally try to make it around noon because I’m aware of these crazy early hour curve balls, but today I made it at 3:05 pm and they closed. I begged so nicely to let me in to look up a simple fact for me, thank god they did. (if they didn’t there would be a Unilocal strike for negative star options)
this particular branch (branch 13) no longer offers candies, cookies and coffee in the front. I have been a loyal customer to this bank and this particular branch since CHILDHOOD and the level of service here ranges from crap-​tastic to nice. I think considering its insanely unhelpful hours, this branch’s only redeeming quality is its rear parking lot.
in general, i’m not a huge fan of astoria federal (terrible interest rates and not available in manhattan).
with all of its flaws, how the heck does Astoria Federal stay in business?!
